For me, an important manipulation I succumb to is the influence of other people's habits. Days where I'm in charge of my time tend to run very smoothly - I eat a healthy balance of food, I structure my time towards achieving a goal, etc. But then on the days where I am at the mercy of other people's time (family obligations, people who help support me), people always want to go out for pizza or doughnuts, smoke and drink, or be frugal with money in ways that are extremely inefficient and completely self-negating (as I've heard, be frugal with your time, not your money!). So what do I do? The end goal is to find people who are a positive influence on me (not necessarily people that I LIKE or am similar to). However, these people support me and my best path right now (as far as I know - imagine what biases I have!) is to keep them in my life, so my way of handling it is to become as self-aware as possible and ignore them as much as I can. Still, too often, I allow myself to eat the pizza or Oreos when the better thing to do is just fast and eat later on my own terms, even though the unhealthy food was free and I had to buy my own healthy food.

I used to be(am at the moment?) manipulated by computer games. Then my laptop got messed up and I haven't repaired it in over a month. I'm kind of afraid I'm going to go back to games once I repair it which is why I haven't. However, it is working. I've learned more in that period than I've ever learned before. Got more time to do other productive things, lowered my procrastination drastically. Feeling quite nice as well.

I'd like to share with you an example of me, being manipulated by music. In particular mexican regional music "Corridos" which as you may know glorify the drug cartels of mexico. I dont know how it taps into one of our instincts that has a very influential power over the people that listen to it. I guess I just fell into it as part of joining that social circle and feeling belonging of that particular group of people. It did start my career as a music video producer...creating a lot of popular videos used as propoganda by the cartel. Some of which even led me to meet actual cartel leaders. As of this year I have resigned producing any videos that glorify the ignorance and unproductive illicit behavior corridos music is pushing on its youth. Working in the music industry, I did learn how the public is so easily manipulated by the garbage music that the music labels pays to play on radio/media. However, Your ideas have in part influenced me to a greater good. Reading a book a day is the greatest concept on the internet. Thank you

Everyday some form of manipulation occurs. I am 25 and learning many self discoveries of myself. Trying to get my career going, dealing with unhealthy people in my life & struggling to ween out the bad and keep focusing on balance. I think the true test is not only Listening to those emotions that arise from within & trusting. But to Execute them. I Find myself deal with manipulation of being a people pleaser & leading myself into self destruction of unhappiness. Trying to please the unhappy people in your life because you care about them is....Self Manipulation in the finest... Still trying to figure out how to execute while keeping love in my heart. Thanks Tai for sharing your Wisdom look forward to learning more.

The halo effect has manipulated me many times. Many times ive seen others manipulated by it. Ive also seen school manipulating students, kind of manufacturing students in a specific way. There are several things i found were wrong with schooling much later and i also think about it each time you tell me as well that school systems are often ineffective and incorrect. I try to think about all the possibilities about a given situation that is important. I try not to be manipulated by my mind into thinking what it finds the most acceptable by society, i try to go beyond that. But again not always. Thanks for the video.

Bought food, just now bought long lasting healthy food, at the minimum to survive and maintain the body in good condition. Earlier today, I spoke w/ who I needed to, to make major changes in my life. Both were breakthroughs from different places: 1. food: was from committing to stay away from Mc.D's throughout the 67Steps to prove I do not need it just because I am hungry and have no $$. Like Tai said: you won't die just find a substitute. 2. Relationship: not able to make moves in life at the same pace. so change was needed. You can do it. It is in our mind (us) that make up the reason why we are doing it rather than just ask ourselves why we make up those reasons in the first place...

I use to be manipulated by sugar until I learned what it does to my body, and mind. I stopped sugar that day. I now read all labels and continue to educate myself on the forms that sugar is represented on labels. I also began to tell myself the truth about eating fruit and that is "this is sweet enough". Before I use to get stomach ache after dinner if I did not have dessert with sugar.

I had a roommate who helped out some friends by letting them sleep at his place rent free and they eventually took advantage of the situation to the point where he had to kick them out. So when I became his roomate paying equal rent equal utility bills I figured there would be gratitude for having someone not messing him over but the exact opposite happened and eventually I ended up kicking him out for taking advantage of me.

The common sense by solving poverty is teaching people how to deal with money and how to get better at things and how to achieve goals. Showing people what their abilities are, what they they can do in live, teaching positive and realistic thinking. Inspire, support, testing their commitment. Man their are so many things. Its different for everyone. Do something different/new, never give up

I told him dude NO! youre going to pay bills no matter what but it doesn't mean you HAVE to work for someone else for the rest of your life and then force it upon other people. I can say i that most people ive been around are pretty stupid. they say all you do is get a job go to work and then come home. So i say wheres the rest of your life? where is your time for you to invent a new thing for yourself or invest in yourself start a business? Well they all look at me tell me im stupid and i dont know what im talking about and i live in a "bubble world or a fantasy world"

one way I think Ive been manipulated was by my parents who brainwashed me when I was a kid to think that being a doctor was the best career out there. I really believed them and it made me want to be a doctor too. So in highschool I took alot of science classes but I didn't enjoy them. I was getting below average grades on tests and it got to the point where I didnt care how I did in those classes and all I wanted to do was get out of classes. I started to skip classes because I really didnt like being there and it made me feel stupid because I didnt understand the material even if I did study for them. And it didnt feel worth it to me to study for the classes either. I wish I had realized sooner in highschool that persuing medicine was no right for me. But im 21 now. And Ive told my parents that I dont want to be a doctor and Im going to persue a career that lets me live and work on my terms.

I would say advice on how relationships should be has been the most manipulative issue for me. You got people whose relationships haven't worked, but yet their still trying to give you advice. The only thing I get out of them is learning what not to do. In retrospect you can still learn from them, but it kills me when they try to tell you what you should be doing as if their methods have worked in the past.

Ok so where do I think i got manipulated? 1. Procrastination- most commonly this happened at the time I needed to study i realized i got manipulated by my own brain cuz you know "the harder you work the luckier you get" and that's true.So now I'm training myself to take my responsibilities and try to have fun doing them. 2.Fear- because your brain isn't used to overcome fear and take risks you are kind of paralyzed and you fear doing what is new for you 3.Wasting time etc etc. Thanks Tai for everything.

Hey, Tai! So my example of manipulation is in the friendship area. As a teenager I used to go to my hometown for Christmas breaks and stuff... And a few years ago I went back to my hometown, but I went there without my parents which was the usual situation. And me and my 2 best friends at the time were smoking pot whenever the oportunity arrived. So it's the 30th of december and we need pot for New Year's Eve. Sure enough here comes to moment that we should go and buy some pot from our dealer and my friends turn to me and they say - "Yo we both forgot our money back home, why don't you pay for the pot and we'll give you back your money tomorrow." And because they were my best friends at the time I was so naive, that under no circumstances I would think that they would betray me... ever. So i pay for the pot and we leave. I wake up the next day with pretty much no money and I call them asking for my money. They say - " Yo dude chill out we're not gonna let you go home without any money". And me being the stupid kid that I was back then i was like - " Okay guys but keep in mind that if you don't give me back my money I can't go home." and they say - "Chill out bro. Everything is okay." i was like - "Cool". So here comes 31st of december and we havo to go and buy some alchohol. Again as you can probably tell alreardy we do so with my money. So everything is going nice, we're celebrating New Year's Eve with my money. And now it's the 1st of january and it's late afternoon and it's about time that I should go to the bus station and buy a ticket so I can go home. I call them so I can ask for my money otherwise I can't go home. As you can probably guess, they are't not picking up their phones... Luckily my cousin was in town and I did borrow enough money from her so I can buy a ticket and go back home. Sad thing was, I was super hungy the whole time that I was travelling and I oficially lost my 2 best friends at that time. From then on I have very little trust in other people's words. Now those days are long gone. I think I matured a little bit and learned my lesson. Dumb boy I was ... :) P.S. I would like to apologize to anyone, reading this comment if I made any mistakes. My maternal language is NOT english :)

Two doosies are the financial system and the educational system. The educational system trains you to be a middle-class citizen, which by the way consumes the most and pays the most taxes. The financial system manipulates you by saying "invest here or there, give us your retirement money, and we'll take care of you." They make it so complex that the average Joe, the middle-class citizen, doesn't know how to invest, so they are forced to give it to someone else. That someone else ends up taking 60-70% of the gains, if there are any, with ZERO risk. It ends up being a vicious cycle. Unfortunately, the middle-class are now becoming the poor-class, through manipulation, inflation among other things. Get educated!

it's impressive how simple and logical is what you said here, but we never think about it. it's true that we must not judge a person by a comun sense, but i think of the probability. We have more chances to choose a bad person from a bad group than from a reputable group.

The most important lesson that I learned from you is to listen to what is being said and not necessarily how much you like a person. When I first started listening to you, I had a problem. I don't know if you rubbed me the wrong way or what, I just did not want to see your videos. Then I started noticing what you were saying. I still don't agree with everything you say, I do like that you make me think. In terms of your question about common sense: we are convinced to go to the doctor for all ailments and yet I have discovered that sometimes listening to my body is all I need to do. It doesn't work for everybody, it does work for me, especially for the minor stuff. Thanks for the book info, this one I definitely want to check out.

My friend once told me " you shouldn't work out when you're only 13 years old. It is bad for you. " and he told me that every time we met, and sooner or later my classmates started telling me to stop working out so much. So I stopped, and after 2 moths of not working out, I became depressed and had to get psychology help. The psychologist told me to start working out again and he told me" don't let others manipulate your brain into thinking stuff that holds you back" and I said okay. And I started working out again, and the I became happy and cheerful again. Don't let other manipulate you!!! The world is dumb, and it will make sure your become dumb if you let it!

Well said, which is why I play Poker and Chess. To answer your question, the current relationship I am in, I am being manipulated into staying. While I KNOW, my energy should be focused on entrepreneurship as I feel it's what I was meant to do (I'm an ENTJ) this girl has found a way (surprising to me considering I know myself quite well) to tug at what little heart strings I do have, into staying with her. But it's wearing very thin and will be done soon. I have too much at stake in life to let a toxic relationship be the end all to my aspirations. People who become a liability in life rather than asset, no matter how much they scream they are an asset, need to be cut loose.

Crazy to see how many people are oblivious. I just recently came across a highly watched video that made fun of Tai's Commercial. Making fun of him and his concepts. Most comments praised the guy that made the video. Saying he's awesome, brilliant, etc. Going in a little deeper the guy that made that video has a ton of them, most of them with less than 100 views on topics that are irrelevant to any type of success. The only one that I watched from his page was titled "Major Announcement" in that 16 second video the guy states that nothing is going on in his boring life. That's his announcement. Yet he's making fun of Tai for his success.? Come on, people can't be that stupid.? Some People are so unaware of their stupidity level. They're Ignorant to new concepts and ideas, that they're making fun of someone who is trying to help them and make them see the world clearer. How can people be so ignorant? Damn...

It's interesting that you mentioned how we tend to disagree with people because of how we feel towards them or see them as, I usually tend to disbelieve any random facts from my friends, specialy those I'm not too close with, just because I may not know them as much and don't know if they are smart enough. I feel it's also a blend of arrogance from my part. Sometimes, after doing some research of my own about whatever they say, I see that they were in fact right. Maybe to prevent this type of manipulation I can listen with an open mind to what they say and question it but not automatically disbelieving it because of my perspective of who said it.

There's the issue of psychological counseling. It may or may not be something that is beneficial for you. If you are in an abusive relationship, then you can benefit from another perspective, from someone who will listen to you and sympathize with you. It frees you. On the other hand, psychological counseling can imprison you. The person giving the counseling may not be so willing to listen, but more apt to impose ideas upon you or simply want to dominate the conversation so they can get on with their day without feeling insecure. Psychological treatment can be used as a dumping ground for people with mental issues - so that it is more of a prison than a place of healing. Mental healthcare sometimes try to keep tabs on you - constantly asking if you are going to hurt yourself or others, or have any symptoms that might be associated with it. They are being pressured from those with power to screen you - and so they serve not you, but the powers who wants people under control.

Pointing on people mean you want to judge or manipulate people. I would say that is what we think when somebody is pointing on us.

I've manipulated myself into thinking I need youtube or videos and music. This is my last video for a long llong time. I'm going to incorporate this into mygoals. Step away from TV, KZbin, music. Starting now Another one is food. Thinking I need to stuff myself. (although what I do it one meal a day pretty much.) Food is gone after you eat it!!!!!!!!!!! It wont make me happy. So eating the right amount of carbs, protein and fat so I can lose 1 pound a week. Instead of watching youtube videos to relax or eating food I will walk, meditate, read, walk the dog, work out, or hell go out and meet people! Pretty much anything but laying around. LoL. My goal is to take responsbility for my actions, behaviors and life. Life is good :) and I'm excited to keep progressing and chipping away at bad habits and incorporating new ones.. Thanks for the video Tai! Also I wanted to add a quick epiphany I thought really helped me understand my emotions... So before I really understood what certainty, white hot desire and INSANE focus felt like I would wonder why I wasn't following through on my goals. 2 things. If you really REALLY REALLY REALLY desire something and are certain you can achieve it you would. The trick is training your mind and emotions with certainty and desire. My new goal is to train my brain to feel certainty and to increase my desire for my goals. I got this from Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill... Hope that helps, Mike! PS my one sentence destiny is: Inspiring people by example and Transforming peoples bodies with fitness groups, personal training and online products.

Hi Tai I hold a universe of appreciation for what you provide to my mind. I will keep this question short, i watch every single one of your updates and revisit them for reference just like i do with books, but maybe i seem to have missed out when you recommended a book on the cognitive-biases. I have done my own research but i would deeply appreciate your recommendation on what to read on the cognitive-biases. Kind Regards

Hey guys, I probably have some form of a distraction-disorder, I am way too easy to be distracted. Coffee helps me with it, but I shouldn't be dependent on it. Has anybody tips on how to train to be less distracted?

Greetings Tai Lopez Love your videos, I live in the USA and a traditional practice are weddings which my story is slightly different. My girlfriend and I have set to get married , her family practices the Thai Dowry where the husband pays for the wedding, after paying the parents. Its challenging when you're accustomed to western civilization practices. which isn't exactly the most frugal practices. "Tai" Sometimes I question traditions and beliefs, how have you practiced your true beliefs without offending your true love ones. Thanks Sincerely.

there was a time when my english wasn't as good and i would hear jokes that i never understood but i laughed anyways. i eventually understood the humor but before that i never asked why it was funny, i feared that they would think im stupid or something... i think that some people still do things to please others ignoring their own desires and thats not good.

since day 1 my parents have always been telling me to go to college and you'll find a nice career and.... I thought this was the right path for me and that I would become happy and fulfilled once I could secure a well paying job. Part of the motivation to do this was to appease my parents and because we always struggled in the money department. I could never go on any school trips and never left the country for vacation like all my friends. there was one week when all we had to eat was milk eggs and broccoli. Luckily i loved eggs so this wasn't a big problem for me. but as I've grown older and matured into a more well rounded human being, I've begin to write bogus posts to just to prove how easily your susceptible to random information and i probably couldve tricked you into feeling even worse for me. be wary of everyone my friends because it truly is that easy. I live in a huge mansion now with a few victoria secret models roaming around. life is good.

Tai it's very interesting that us as humans spend many years debating common sense related things to the point where in some countries people's lives at stake. It's no wonder that when a lot of us learn something new from somebody our immediate respond may be "oh really?" Then they automatically accept it just because someone they liked said it. I believe we should dissect that "oh really" response further perhaps it's our brain saying something like computers say "are you sure you want to proceed with the purchase" haha.
