The making mistakes you know you are not supposed to do and are aware you are doing while doing them and doing them anyways is the AIDS of near-consistent-profitability all traders must overcome... it is also the most challenging thing to overcome but the most rewarding. Nothing feels better than becoming consistently aware of oneself AND actually having control over one's actions, not just self loathing after doing some shit you said you can never do again ever and doing it anyways 10 times while literally going "dude... bro... ... dude..."

Recently implemented a rule of only a 1 trade per day. Noticed that my first day is always full of clarity, discipline, and overall I am good at executing it. But trades after are more emotionally charged and the quality suffers. Results are roughly the same, but hourly rate is way higher with 1 trade per day.

The one thing I hate (even more than losing) is recording my trades and journaling. I don't know if that makes me a bad trader or will stunt my growth as a trader, but it's never going to happen. I prefer to allow my unfolding experience to wash through my subconscious mind and create a permanent record of all my trades, which will, hopefully, provide a guiding light or a sixth sense in my conscious trading decisions.

Beginners should definitely pick a "market-type" (preferably trending market) and learn to trade that before trading ranging/the opposite markets since you basically have to trade them oppositely. Also pick a time-frame that gives you enough TIME to see your setups play out and to be confident in the ones you take. If you think you can compete with HFT firms as a beginner trader you'll just get abused.

This video seems like it was made specifically for me. After about 3 weeks of good price action and significant green days, this past week or so has been pretty bad for my trading plan since I kept aiming for similar profit targets when price action was not there. I could have been up consistently if I had just adapted and taken profits at more realistic levels, even if those profits were lower than the previous weeks'.

I don't know if this could work for anyone else, but I noticed my losses get really bad after I trade for more than 30 minutes. So now I just trade in 30 min sessions either once or twice day (usually 10am and 3pm). I trade on 1min charts and my setups only appear about 2-3 times, so that and my exit strategy stops me from losing too much on the day.

Just what I needed right now, also, it's funny how we all become better at winning by minimizing losses. Technically we don't even have to win more than we all do right now, given the amount is above zero. We "just" have to lose less. But I suppose that is like saying "duh, just become rich if you don't have money". Still interesting how a different approach to the same endgoal leads to two very different mindsets. One complains about a losing week, the other is happy about losing less and less..shortly before 50x shorting some meme coin and yeeting all their money out. I didn't do that of course. :D #edit At the end you mentioned the death of someone, sorry for your loss, I assume this is not one of the many jokes

Hey Iman, nice video. I wanted to ask since you aren't a consistently profitable trader yourself, do you ever feel like you have no place to teach about trading and that most of the time you simply give very surface-level advice, that most new traders have already heard in their first week of learning? This is exactly how I feel when I see a question on the internet and I want to help and answer that question, however, at the same time I feel like I'm simply still in the back-and-forth process of thinking "This is what's been wrong about my trading!" even though I was already told that exact thing long ago. Thanks!

I know you asked him this but I'd like to offer my thoughts on it anyway. I'd rather take advice from someone making the mistakes that knows the mistakes and why they are made that from some ivory tower intellectual that doesn't have the same struggles I do. That's why I love listening to this young man. He seems to have insight into exactly what I struggle with because he struggles with the same things and has the formal education to annunciate why we're doing those things. I'd much rather take marital advice from someone divorced four times if they finally recognize what happened and can guide me to not make the same mistakes.

@@rodgercastle7809 Hi, Rodger, thanks for your reply. I understand and agree with what you said. Iman seems like an honest person with no ulterior motives, that shares the same goal that many of us are trying to achieve. Still, it feels like we're all learning to drive from people that can't drive down a road without crashing. Maybe there's a very thin line between successful and not that is held up by a lot of experience and the experience can't be learned by observation. Gotta stay positive!

If you dont know when "conditions" are changing, maybe the "conditions" are an illusory description of random processes. Why are losses always so much bigger than wins? Perhaps if you took losses as quickly as you took your wins, you would quickly see that your trading results are random, rather than waiting through a long "winning" period first.

Ease into it. Trade smaller with real money. Perhaps 1 or 10 shares. As you gain comfort and hopefully consistency, bump it to 25. I dont get it where is the evidence that price action works? Its literally is fooling yourself to thinking the past actions of people around the world buying and selling have some kind of connection, and that connection means anything about the future. You literally cant know
@tjcochius6331
@tjcochius6331 3 ай бұрын
It’s a valid point that past price action doesn’t guarantee future outcomes-we can’t “know” anything with certainty. But price action trading isn’t about making precise predictions. Instead, it’s about understanding probabilities and the behavioral patterns that market participants tend to exhibit. Price movements reflect the decisions of countless traders, investors, and algorithms. These decisions often form recognizable patterns-like areas where buying or selling occurs repeatedly (support and resistance) or where emotions like fear and greed drive momentum. Price action traders try to learn the market’s language by studying these patterns. They aren’t predicting the future but rather reacting to the current behaviors of market participants. While it’s not foolproof, and there’s always uncertainty, this doesn’t mean there’s no connection between past behavior and future outcomes. Traders and investors respond to certain price levels and trends in a largely consistent, psychologically driven manner. Recognizing these behaviors can provide an edge. It’s akin to navigating a river-you can’t predict every twist and turn, but you can get a sense for how the currents behave over time. Price action trading is about reading these market “currents” and acting based on likely scenarios, not certainties. With enough experience, traders can develop a sense of where high-probability opportunities might lie-essentially gauging where the “herd” is likely to move. This process relies on patience, discipline, and a clear understanding that we’re not predicting but responding to the natural ebb and flow of market behavior. Of course, gaining the intuition for such a chaotic environment would take thousands of focused hours of watching, recording and reflection. Which would take years of consistent unbroken and genuine effort, all with no certainty of ever achieving consistency. 😅
