I read this manga 10 years before the anime was produced, and I gotta say that something they failed at reproducing was the feeling of how these parasites were so easily blending into our society because the story happens in the 90s, back then we didn't have smartphones, internet was still using dippers, in resume there was less communication and no one had a camera at hand like now a day, but in the anime in an attempt to make the story seem more recent they added smartphones in some scenes, there's always someone recording in the era of smartphones, so there would be evidence of the parasites right away if this story took place in our actual era.

Fun fact: the parasites weren't actually aliens in the extra terrestrial kinda way. In the manga it's heavily implied that the spores were created by earth due to man's overpopulation as a sort of protection protocol to deal with our waste and garbage *spoiler alert* that's why goto's end is poetic since he gets killed by the same thing he was made to help eradicate.

@@MrHaVoKeRThats during the early phases. Its also true for any outbreak, it starts out chill. People oblivious, and then it kicks up. These parasytes were scary, you could be fucking one for years and not even know it. Just imagine?!

I think the main reasons why people don't consider it a big issue is because the amount of parasytes were quite few. Also I don't recall them reproducing and making more of them. Granted it has been years since I watched the show. Regardless our weapons are actually pretty effective against them, swat was able to kill many of them once the truth was out. It was mainly when you had multiple parasytes in a single body that things got a lot harder to deal with. As then they're much more versatile and stronger, with a lot less openings. If you end up with several that are near full body parasytes, that's when you'd need a bit more than your standard gun to deal with them. That said, a flamethrower or high explosives would still work. Pair this with the fact people nowadays are basically recording everything, the likelihood of the early stages of the outbreak going unseen is a lot less likely. Especially if you increase the number of parasytes in the initial outbreak. And finally the parasytes primarily ate humans, if they killed all the humans, it'd potentially lead to them starving and dying out. Hell all the humans wouldn't even be dead by the time most would starve or be killed by each other, since the more parasytes in a body the more it needs to eat and the more animalistic it is comparatively speaking. Now if everything goes in their favor then yes they may be able to stay undetected long enough to either kill all humans (and then starve themselves out), or do what the vampires from Owari no Seraph or Promised Neverland did, which is make human farms basically.

One of the most unsurvivable things in anime (probably THE most unsurvivable thing in anime) is an invasion from the Anti Spirals from Gurren Lagann. To simply put it, if you don’t have the capabilities to use Spiral energy and even master it to cosmic amounts, you and your entire species and planet are officially gone.

One important factor that would be the key to humanities survival that wasnt as prevalent when the manga was originally written in the 90s is just how much surveillance modern society has. With a CCTV camera on every street corner and a smart phone in every wouldbe victims pocket it would be near enough impossible for the mincemeat murders to happen without it very quickly blowing up on social media. In the series it took near enough 2 years for the authorities to confirm the existence of the parasytes, understand their capabilities and then produce countermeasures and plans for taking the aliens out, if that happened now the Parasytes would probably be found out in like 2 months.

Basically a billion dollar company made this energy drink that was rushed through goverment testing and funding so when people drank it they mutated into these creatures. I am curious on if it is better overall for the parasyte to become a limb more than the head? That way they blend in better and they do not have to feast on human (since they would use their host). I guess they would prefer it so that way they have 100% control and not have to worry about the host refusing them.

Thing is that after the events of the story, many of the parasytes come to realize that they can survive on the same diet humans eat, and so in their desire to maintain their disguises they adopt that more. Eventually never really eating humans again. It makes sense since they are essentially powering an ordinary human body with said diet.

@@JohnShepherd117 In the manga after the MC outs them as existing the Japanese government quickly finds a way to identify them and later on there's a scene of the Japanese equalivant of the SWAT using full auto shotguns to kill a dozen or so of them before they encounter one that is capable of doing just as you said, deflecting bullets. Granted after killing the team sent after him the MC later in the story kills him but as it turns out he's instead of being a single Parasyte is a collection of them fused to a single body. So yeah while some are capable of doing such things, the majority are basically just a few times stronger/faster than a human.

This video is making me want to see Wow Such Gaming make a "Why You Wouldn't Survive Kill La Kill's Life-Fiber Parasite Invasion" video. There might be enough information to warrant a video like this. The Life-Fibers originated in space just like the Parasites in this anime, But they have been with humanity since the beginning of man. They too, are also symbiotic parasitic beings. And they also have an end-game plan that would result in why you wouldn't survive. The lore surrounding the Life-Fibers is very interesting, despite the sheer idea that they can be more dangerous as clothing sounds ridiculous. Should you ever do a video like this, you might need to do a lot of censoring. Kill La Kill is a Fan-Service anime after all. You want my advice? Parasites have the advantage of speed. From their interactions against humans, we can see that their movement is so fast that once it attacks, a normal human can barely follow the attack with their own eyes. Comparatively, Ghouls from Tokyo Ghoul are not that fast, normal humans are able to match their speed, dodge or par their attacks. Ghouls seem to be more endurable and have stronger "weapons" than Parasites. Ghouls can regenerate most wounds, Parasites really can't, they're very fragile in the grand scheme of things. Quoting the main character, "even a monster like Gotou [that had three Parasites inside of him] died so easily to a simple chemical poisoning". I'd say it depends. If Parasite could find a way to kill a Ghoul instantly, they'd have a very big advantage, since their body's speed is much faster. However, on the other hand, they're very fragile themselves, so if they get caught offguard, or they can't finish a Ghoul in one, quick attack, they'd be at a disadvantage.

It’s revealed that they eventually learn they don’t need to consume humans for substance. The ones that best manage to blend in to human society realise it’s best to ignore the impulse and stop hunting humans. In other words they aren’t “active” because they are just hiding now and no longer need to hunt.

If I can throw my hat in the ring for WYWS/WYWPS scenarios in anime (or in this case a game series.) I'd recommend the God Eater universe (and by extension Code Vein) with its aragami and Devouring Apocalypse. Where if you live in any part of the world, that isn't a walled city or the Gaol of Blood, you're guaranteed to be killed by getting eaten by a monster. But even then you are STILL not safe. Oh and on top of that the Ashlands exist where you are royally fucked.
