I actually prefer the original “truce” ending, as it is closer to the reference material and showcases how the two evolutionary lines are killing eachother. Robert Neville was supposed to be a bogeyman for the new world, an ancient monster of the old world that captures and experiments on what he sees as monsters, becoming one himself without realizing it. That’s what “I am Legend” means. But because Hollywood has no spine, they had to WWZ it up for some feel goods.

It's impressive how Hollywood is able to make mediocre movies based off of great books like I am legend and world War Z. I am legend is still a good movie.I loved I am legend growing up and still do it's just that the ending of the movie is the generic happy Hollywood ending that doesn't do the book justice and missis the point of why the book is called "I am legend". The alternate ending of the movie is closer to the books because in the books infected humans that died came back as mindless killing but infected humans that didn't die kept all thier humanity but turned into vampires that wanted to rebuiled society.

Honestly the best thing that you can do in a situation like this is stick to the countryside. You know open fields that are in Texas Kansas etc. yes the dark seekers can travel out there but they won’t be in colossal numbers like in the cities. You have a better chance in fighting them if you’re out in the country. Basically the same thing that we see in the survival colony at the end of the movie. However it does make you wonder how long it will take for these infected to die out on their own. I’m guessing maybe a decade or two. At some point they’ll start killing themselves and they’ll die of starvation later on.

Seems very focused on everyone, which is most to be fair, that live in cities and towns. The people living in mountains, off grid, or just remote enough would be a different story. As long as they have water via a well or even better a lake or river stocked with fish, they'd be able to survive much easier. It wouldn't be until the vampires depleted everything from all the cities around that they would dare venture into the remoteness, and even then, probably wouldn't have enough to make the trip unless they are smart enough to plan it out. While I was work from home, I spent about four months at my camper drinking filtered water, eating fish I caught, and only made one trip to the store just for what I would call normalcy items. Of course, I was eating fish only a couple times a week but in a survival situation you could up that without worrying about mercury levels or any of that. I also have solar, and a generator to make up for the rest, but again in a survival situation you wouldn't really need electricity as you could just cook over fire in the daytime. Wouldn't make for a very good movie tho.

What I've gathered from watching a lot of these videos is that if anything like a zombie apocalypse ever happens the last remaining humans would most likely be small remote tribes/villages across the globe. They grow up knowing how to hunt/gather and are far away from sources of infection.
@lollertoaster Жыл бұрын
That's a crazy thought. Imagine if North Sentinelese were the last humans on earth and thousands years later they spread around the globe over hundreds of thousands of years, the same way we all spread from Africa. Those are good odds if you live on top of a canyon or mountainside. Even if they can climb, they are very vulnerable trying to do it. And a tanker out at sea with a garden would be invulnerable by itself as long it was in open sea and not at port or seeing another ship.
@justinfrank75642 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the infected humans die out pretty quickly? The huge amounts of food they would need to sustain even a small population of humans with a hummingbird like constantly energized system would drain the local resources pretty quickly. Not to mention that if they do pretty much have adrenaline constantly pumping into their systems the hearts of these creatures would give out in a relatively short amount of time too.
@thomaswaldron46612 жыл бұрын
This is why pretty much every zombie/vamp apocalypse story is impossible. The food source would run out and infected would die quickly
@johnnynunez18432 жыл бұрын
@@thomaswaldron4661 in most Zombie stories humans as a food source isn’t entirely accurate. The zombie virus typically hot wires the brain to transmit the virus to produce more cases. It’s the level of aggression in the host and the massive hoards of them that usually kill intended targets. So zombies don’t need a food source, although they would still decay and die as they are basic human bodies. Realistically a zombie apocalypse wouldn’t last more than 5 years, with the majority of the undead just decaying away lol
@johnnylego8072 жыл бұрын
Fair point, they’d probably make it 2 weeks mabye a month before giving out. Human bodies are pretty resilient, but given enough time they will be done for. Unfortunately that’s still enough time to kill atleast a 1/3 of the planet.

I'd survive. A homebase isn't always the answer. In a situation like this staying on the move and avoiding areas where these guys have nests would be key. Middle of nowhere farmable areas would work out nicely. Relying on the government for evacuation and safe zones would be for people who don't know anything about surviving, which would probably end with a bullet in the face. Granted I wouldn't say I'd be guaranteed to make it, especially if I have to fight off/escape a horde but it wouldn't be impossible. Also these are vampires so aside from WWZ I still consider myself good in the event of a ZOMBIE apocalypse 😁 Glad you're back ✌🏾

Stalker is the only one on this list worth even mentioning. The rest are garbage. Anime is literal cancer, so fuck the Titans. World War Z the movie was an abortion compared to the book. SAW isn't a fucking apocalypse. Dead Set is the same exact thing as night of the living dead, so already done. Mass Effect is scifi, so it's not applicable to modern times. 40k has literally trillions of humans, so yeah it'd suck but survival is based on where you are and who else is there. He's already done SCPs, Containment breach is not an apocalypse its one facility. Skyrim didn't have flak cannons and .50 caliber machine guns. Dragon's wouldn't last a month in modern times. Sonic? What the fuck. Who gives a fuck about furryland? I'm done. If you haven't realized, these videos are ALL about some kind of disease, virus, fungus, etc. North Korea isn't a fucking virus. Superman isn't a fucking virus. OK I had to look up what MLP was. Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you.

I preffered the sacrifice ending. Robert was all alone, using these 'monsters' as they hunted him down and cornered him. I thought his sacrifice was more dramatic and much better as he sacrificed everything to help others as he was the cure. Also I dont think I have ever cried as much during an outbreak movie. Lastly, there is a scene with a mannequin (I have a fear of them) that 'breathes' to trap Neville. Just interesting and clever how they trapped him.

It's wierd how all three adaptations of the book - The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man and I am Legend all take different wierd liberties with the tone and story. Ridley Scott was going to do a version with Arnold Schwernegger that got as far as make-up tests starting, and even that was going to be VERY different to the book.

@spartains54932 жыл бұрын
imo the ultimate weapon in this scenario would be anything fire related. Darkseekers can deal with the pain of artificial lights long enough to knock them out, but a fire? Sure they could probably tough out the light it produces, but now they would have to deal with the fire itself. No amount of pain tolerance can stop you from burning to death. The fire would also kill the virus itself. Basically, the military should've used napalm, incendiary bombs, and flamethrowers.

Maybe I missed it but it seems like one thing missed in this is that there are those immune to the virus spread via airborne but that doesn't make them immune to the virus spread bodily fluid. This is clearly revealed when Will is talking to his dog and says we're not sure that you're(the dog) is immune via blood, etc. Will was 100% immune.
@robertpresley15032 жыл бұрын
Idk why, but I always thought that the virus wasn't a global thing and was just contained in the city that Will Smith was at. I thought that the city was permaquarantined by the government and Will stayed behind to try to find a cure.

There are animated shorts that were released alongside the movie you can look up on KZbin as well. Those are the weird comic shots of the Darkseakers that show a few different things. First, it shows that the Virus did spread globally, and most places are gone. Another metropolis in Asia has only 1 survivor, that the East coast of the USA actually fell after the west coast and inner states fell etc. The most interesting short actually shows how it is from the darkseakers point of view. The infection, cocktail of dopamine, serotonin, adrenaline etc and mirganes cause hallucinations. And because of that, they see normal humans as if they were darkseakers instead.
@nickyb19672 жыл бұрын
I read that it was Dr Neville that set every trap seen in the movie and that seeing the hoodie wearing "Fred" moving was a hallucination. Given the hallucination and erratic behaviour, he set off the trap he'd set at an earlier date. What do you all think?
@WowSuchGaming2 жыл бұрын
Its possible? Buts its also possible that the Alpha observed his day to day behiavior of going to the video store and thought of using his only "loved ones" much like Neville took his daughter. As for the trap, it could go either way and its fun to interpret!
@purepup99692 жыл бұрын
I could see that potentially being the case. With people being such social creatures, and with how long it had been since Dr Neville went without any real human interactions, he definitely wouldn’t be the most sane individual leading up to that moment. Then again the infected in the movie do seem to show some level of retained human intellect, so maybe it’s possible they did set the trap. Still an interesting theory though.

I think you'd be more akin to be taken away to a local hush hush facility. (Rather then be flat out executed) As a soldier myself, lol I can't stress how almost impossible it is to Evacuate people who are in panic. I thought the movie handled the screening in public stuff honestly as realistic as possible. I can tell you rn, the second you start shooting ppl in the head for having a virus they might not even know they have in the first place just because a device says they do, specifically In this circumstance. Is the moment order will be lost. I think Max Brooks WWZ novel handled it the best. It was more or less the same. There were dogs helping in the screenings , but the infected were brought to these big black vans on standby. The were taken, presumably to be killed via probably lethal injection or other means, away from public eye ofc. Both are pretty terrible but it caused way less panic and allowed for the Evacuation to actually continue.
