😄 This is 595 not 500 abarth, Thr compitizione 595 has 180bhp and 185torque! weighing at 2200lbs. The 500 abarth its a let down only 165hp and 160torque. So the 595 is much faster and better choice ! Yet its verry tunable theres people tuned the 595 abarth compitzione up to 265bhp and 280 torque!! tune costing only 3k with that power its cheap.

Well.... not just for youngsters. I’m 50 and I’ve just picked up a 595 in grey and removed all the stickers and badges and race chipped it to 225 bhp. My car list has always been small cars. Mk1 XR2, MK2 XR2, Uno Turbo, R5 GTT, GTTi, MK3 RS1800, Lupo GTI then family life and divorce and now back to small cars that only really carry me and my son.

As a Panda 100hp owner, I would say if you want the 595 but on the cheap, go for the 100hp, it's essentially the same platform, same interior, tonnes of fun and cheaper to buy/insure.

My daughter had a fiat 500 1.2 sport at 17 for her first car, insurance was £900. After the first year with 1yr ncb to insure a 595 (145bhp) was the same £900. No black box, admiral multi car policy, 3 cars on it. A 595 is now on the drive.

Lots of insurance companies are starting to give large discounts to those that hold a full bike licence as it's been proven time and time again for a long time, that those who ride motorbikes on the road have a much higher observation level and awareness of whats going on around them.

I don't even own an ST but can tell you the reason that they are so common is due to them being so much better than an abarth, my girlfriend had a new 595 and it's a cute girls car don't get me wrong. But it's got no Tourqe, a tiny engine with turbo lag, you sit way too high and it's made from Chinese plastic. There is a reason the ST has won multiple awards. But like I said , abarths are a good little girls car 👍 but just buy a Polo GTI, Gaps abarths and Sts, and is much more grown up and nicer to drive

Ncb is only for people who have had insurance with a full license without a claim on the policy in that year so if you had 2 years ncb then you wouldve passed 2 years ago and no insurance straight away. Ive had my license 4 years but only have 1ncb even though ive been on temp cover for the last 4 years and driving on trade plates as they dont count towards the ncb which means in short that if you crash your policy is void and you are at risk of being done for no insurance or the policy wont pay out

I have to credit Jamie for pointing out how badly-placed the tiny foot rest is, so the driver spends his time 'riding the clutch' - not good. The foot rest is an obstruction, unless you have the shoe size of Sophia Loren, that being the reason why I chose the MTA Competizione over the manual version which allows your left leg to stretch out, particularly on long trips. Another reason is the UK's abysmal, grid-locked carriageways, so when you're stuck in the same road works you drove through three years earlier, you're not throwing the shift from first to second in an hour long tedious tailback. The MTA may be a bit 'old school', but it's fine when you learn to 'feather' the throttle. Unfortunately, the majority of those who have tested it elsewhere haven't the first idea how it works. I'm on my second Abarth in five years and have had no issues with either the semi-automatic gearbox, or anything else. Three cheers for charm, brio and charisma! Where can you find that in a Merkel Mobile?

Sad that this will be discontinued. A fun little car. Does not really make sense on paper (just like the Porsche 911 doesn’t yet I love mine). The Abarth is too tall, has a weird driving postition, feels cheap, does not handle that well - but all is forgiven when you consider the character and fun you get for the price! BTW: Apple CarPlay is/was an option after the facelift - only a muppet would order one without that option. Imho.

Having lived outside a city centre. The majority of people looking at first cars are not looking at spending £5000. Moreover, if they were. They could get so much nicer cars than a Abarth... Like a ford Fiesta... Moreover, these car's are not cheap to insure. I personally would take a 2010-2014 Ford Fiesta over a new Abarth any day. And given the availability of parts, they are just cheaper to repair. Also, you don't own a Fiat 500...

I'm sorry, but really mate have you owned one of these I had one it cost a fortune on insurance (1.7k per year) then the road tax at £140 per annum, the economy is shocking, yes you don't buy this for mpg but only 200 miles per tank (35ltr) I wouldn't trust an 18 yr old to handle these either, for what they are the shift and I doubt a new driver could handle it. Finally reliability, when I got rid of mine it had a buggered clutch release plate, fuel mixture was too rich and would cause the engine to hunt. They're fun track/weekend cars, but bloody hell not for a new driver, go buy a old Corsa or something and save the cash

Bit late to the show. Fuck the rear seat off (seat belts and all the other bits weigh almost 30kg). Honey comb the existing airbox filter. Get some Michelin Pilot sports and a bluespark box. Uprated the intercooler, (Focus ST stage 2 fits very nice). Result 200bhp + lots of fun.

The reason your apple car play isn't working is because of your lead. That lead will only charge the phone and not transfer data from the phone to the car. I've used that lead you have currently and when plugging it into the PC you cant transfer data. try a different lead and it will work.

as a young maccies warrior myself, i can say that i payed 1500 for 1 year insurance, with a black box for a 1.2 corsa, December this year, i should be able to get the insurance for 1k without a black box, as a young driver, i know we all want a jdm icon, or that fine Italian styling, but settle for the crappy cars first, then go for the beauties when the price is worth paying, id probably suggest 20-21, but if you wait longer that price will come down astronomically. aslong as you keep your no claims :) otherwise your not in the best position

i drive a regular fiat 500 pop because i couldn't quite afford this by the time i passed my test and i was desperate to drive, but i was able to get my fiat dirt cheap for 4 grand including insurance with a kind of bluetooth blackbox thing that cant tell if i'm speeding. i've done it up with a screen and 100 watt speakers and i love it. but i really want this car down the line, like i would keep this thing for my entire life. its a cool nippy little fucker and i want it so bad

I'm turning 22 in June and i just had my driver's license. My dream car is this abarth 595 but everyone keeps telling me i shouldn't get one just because they don't like it or talk back about this particular model. I think they're just jealous. 🤷 Imma get myself one anyway 🤣

Not here tough. Things cost an arm and a leg no matter the years. Start from 8000 euros and up. For 8k you either buy the 131hp one or a newer broken one.

I have a 1.9TDi Fabia VRS at 17 years old for £2300. The lowest insurance quote with the lowest mileage possible was £1900 and for some reason I got quoted £2200 for a 1.2 corsa. So I ended up picking the better and more powerful car obvs.

Insurance is weird. I'm 20 with 0 years NCB and daily a '97 Jaguar XJ Sovereign 4.0 V8. My insurance is just over £1,800 annually with Admiral, fully comp. I don't think many claims are made by 20 year olds crashing up old Jags lol. Compared to 500s and all the other popular first cars, at least. My 1st car was a 1.4 MK4 Golf and that was £2,300+ for me to insure, fully comp through LV. Sold it a month later and financed a 2016 BMW 118i 3 pot. That was £1,400 to insure with a black box through LV. Timing chain snapped on that heap of junk in the first 2 weeks of ownership so had it fixed under warranty and gave the car back. After that I got a 1992 Mazda Eunos 1.6 V-Spec import . Superb little car but a real bone rattler. Cheapest quote on that fully comp was over £6,000. NO JOKE (popular boy racer car), 3rd party was £2,200. I stuck with that car for 10 months and sold it before picking up my XJ8. All these cars were purchased and insured in my first year driving, hence no NCB lol. 90% of my driving is on the motorway and I manage to average 32 mpg in my land yacht!

if you're looking at first car insurance, I'd try with Ticker, im with them and it was fairly cheap (maybe not the cheapest) - it has a black box, but its practically useless. I'm not a ridiculous speeder but if I see the country road is clear I put my foot down a bit ;) and it doesnt flag anything up. Been a gold driver since I passed hahahaha

Apart from the high purchase cost and very costly Abarth main dealer service charges, insurance premiums would be prohibitive.
