My Narc divorced me in 2006 after he walked out on the family in 2004. He left me penniless. Couldn’t even afford an attorney. Let me tell you Jesus stood there the entire process as my attorney my therapist my friend my judge. I walked out empty handed but I had custody of my sons child support and peace of mind When you have minor children the divorce is just the beginning of a new misery. But you are no longer under their control 24/7. You can breathe finally. You are finally free when the kids turn 18 years old. This is the time you can really tell them to get lost

I was so tormented by not knowing what to do with my destructive marriage and I prayed... So the Lord.sent Dr. Clarke whio gave me strength just enough to apply for an apartment that Jesus made available against all odds. My husband called me horrible names and said he hates me for leaving. I am financially broke, unhealthy and brokenhearted, but I rest in God's love in my new quiet safe place.

I haven’t found one pastor that agrees with my divorce . I feel like I’m being abused all over again. I’ve been married to a narc for 34 years . My adult son and I had moved my husband out a few months ago ,Why would he leave on his own. I prayed for years for God to take me home because the abuse become too unbearable . He has watched porn for the whole 34 years of marriage , flirting with women both in person and front of myself and my son . This isn’t considered adultery ? I was his maid , his mother , housekeeper and sex slave . Everyday when I woke up , I didn’t know what to expect . The name calling , belittling me on a daily basis . I don’t know whom I am anymore but what I do know , God doesn’t want his daughter to be abused anymore or ever did . I just bought your book enough is enough . I’m proceeding with the divorce no matter what pastors say or my X says . They both say you’re in sin and you have no biblical reason for divorce . There is no value for human life anymore and pastors should be ashamed of themselves. It’s sad because now that I’m seeking for another church , I can’t share my story with anyone . The abuse is also from the pastors . I found out that 90% of pastors are narcs and now this all make sense because narcs have to stick together . Satan tried to destroy me and he tries still with his lies but I have the word of God that says I’m free . My son Is free too, he also was a victim of abuse all his years . My X continues to tell everyone that we abandon him. Like I said we had to move him out , why would he leave ? We even gave him the household furnishings . Thank you David Clarke for all you do .

Have been separated for 5 years. Been through all sorts of abuse. Name it, we've had it- verbal abuse, physical, psychological, financial, etc. I am Catholic. The priest told me "You cannot go back unless he (ex) heals in body, mind and spirit. ". They are not for tolerating the abuse. They know it is a spiritual battle.

Amen! When I got saved, this was the first Psalm I ever read and stood on it alongside side Luke 18 The Parable of the Persistent Widow during custody. I leave a very short testimony to a very long one that it will take time, BUT God divinely orchestrated it in such a way that the narc has no access to the legal system. The judge was ordering full transparency in which he was refusing which lead to his withdrawal. God defeated and exposed the narc in court and vindicated me. My narc husband told me yesterday that we are not even married. I know he's with another woman in fact he's never been faithful to me but when I called him out on it again yesterday he said that we're not married. Is he delusional or is he playing mind games with me? Some of the women he is sleeping with he will tell them his married but just new Supply he has told her that he is not married. He still claims to be a widow from his previous marriage. She committed suicide because of his abuse and cheating.

My ex said at the beginning of our divorce that he believes that we stopped being married when I separated from him for good the last time (Nov '21), even though on our last anniversary (Oct '22), he said that even though we're separated we still had reason to celebrate. My take on his turnaround between then and now? He had to rationalize/justify discarding me and starting up with his new supply (the event that finally sparked the divorce) by twisting things in his mind to make me the villain who killed our marriage. Never mind that he had already killed it through neglect, alcohol and porn addiction, and finally physical abuse. I think it's likely your husband's doing the same thing. They are masters at rationalizing and justifying their own horrendous behavior.

What do you think about Annulment vs. Divorce when there are no children involved? There is NO time limit on Annulment with several criteria, like FRAUD, ABUSE, ADDICTIONS, etc. I need to have phone therapy sessions with you if it's affordable. My husband is the other type of Narc, he is not blatantly and obvious, but he passively oppressed me. What is the name for that type of narc that charms all the family and acts like the victim even saying I bulying him, yet it's his doing that I no longer have a relationship with my folks. He has his mother and they both woek against me making me look like the issue, I can't prove any abuse accept for things like the fact that I was convinced to leave my job and homeschooling the kids... I am traped with no help, and one day in an argument I accidentally said he is a passive narc and that was a mistake. Please give me correct term

How can/do you tell if your own mother is a Narcissist? Can they become one as adult do most become one in childhood are there some examples of reasons trauma or patterns that become underlying causes in building the foundation forming NPD? Which ones typically correspond with being on the lower spectrum of … or dysfunctional family systems that can lead to trauma associated full blown NPD?

I’m having the same experience, my husband has been into porn for my 34 years of marriage . He even flirted with other women in front of my adult son . It’s not a marriage , he even says you can’t get a divorce . He violated Ephesians 5 alone . Never was a marriage in Gods eyes . When he wasn’t calling me names and verbally abusing me , he never wanted to spend time with me and I begged for years , this is abandonment. The narc is the devil in disguised..

Dr Clarke, thank you for your insight into narcissist behavior. I am in the middle of divorce and fighting for my freedom. I have recently seen a "black magic " curse against my life and progress. His live in girlfriend hates me and keeps sending "curses". I want to be free of them and continue my life. This has made me focus on the whats next feeling instead of my wishes. I am a religious person and pray daily but sometimes it isn't enough. I noticed my strength is decreasing and it scares me. Any suggestions?
