You are so right about the Stick figure thing. It may seem like a good idea but it really isn't and it can result in very stiff drawings. I never could really grasp that style myself and I tried for years but it just felt so strange and usually when I finished the stick figure, I had a hellish time drawing the body shape over it, it was terrible. The method you do is a little similar to what I do though you do it a lot better (I have to admit I do need to practice more with the gesture method). But yeah thanks for going in depth about why the stick method isn't as full proof as one would think. Great vid, very helpful! :D

I love how relaxed you are... you don't sound so formal and hateful, and I really like that haha!! I love how you're confident enough to draw with a PEN! A PEN!!! Like.. that takes guts! And you drew all of these so perfectly haha! You are awesome! And I love how you absolutely hate that second pose... NumberSign StickFigureMethodIsAnAbomination #StickFigureMethodIsAnAbomination

The stick figure method can work for even professional artists if done right lol. But other than that I completely agree

This is actually a pretty helpful video. I've improved greatly on my anatomy and have found my drawing style, but always found my posing to be incredibly stiff and I could never tell why. So I'll definitely keep this in mind as I go forwards. Hopefully this and starting to finally get into gesture drawing will help my posing a lot.

Jokes aside, this is a lot more helpful than you’re saying. I’ve always had trouble drawing poses, and even just your method itself of drawing the chest and hips will definitely help me a lot. Thank you for making this!!

Man I remember the first time I used a stick figure for proportions and as I went and watched lots of tutorials I found proko and dang his videos helped me with anatomy and proportion and having more movement in my artwork And drawing with a pen has helped since you can't erase you learn to get confident in your linework

If I ever use the stick figure method, it's usually just to give me an idea of the pose I'm drawing, and then I make a new layer and go over it with a more smooth and "realistically correct" version. Really I think the stick figure method is a great way to guide you but if you ever use it, make the actual sketch more smooth and less-stiff.
