Markiplier literally has said that in the famous clip where he cries, he cries because, while watching a video of fans' creations, he realises he could never form a personal connection with them. In other words, he wanted to be friends with all of them, but he knew it was impossible. That realization brought him to tears.

I never understood the parasocial relationship. I always just apply it to myself and say "if I was a KZbinr, would I want a bunch of random narks popping up telling me they know me and relaying personal sh!t I can't help with to me?" The answer may surprise you but no, that sounds awful. So why would I or any other person think creators want that. At the end of the day, they are just entertainers with their own lives. I don't know them and they certainly don't know me.

Dream is doing almost exact thing justin bieber did in the 2010s. He practically encourages his fans bad behavior, practically uses his fans to gain forgiveness. every other week when he gets in trouble for something he said, true or not, he always pulls the 'i love my fans blah blah blah' and then releases a paragraph about some surface level shit like don't discriminate and he's automatically forgiven by his fans. also the whole dnf shit is absolutely out of control. it's dan and phil/septiplier all over again. i don't know how many times we have to say shipping real straight men is wrong but i'll say it as many times as i need. 'but dream is unlabeled' yeah but that doesn't mean he's gay. and the comments he makes to george on some of his streams are just feeding into the weird obsessive fans' fantasy. if dream just made a video addressing his weird fan base then i may respect him a bit more. but he doesn't. he and the rest of the whole smp pulls the 'oh teen girls can't like anything' card, which i would agree with if their fans weren't obsessive weirdos

Just because a content creator wants to add entertainment to your life, or try to use the forms of mediums to better people in one way or another doesn't mean they know you nor want to know you personally, if you ever want to befriend them take it slow, keep boundaries in check and gain genuine trust with them over time. But don't expect that to always happen, different personality types don't always mix well together, some degree of similarity between eachother in personality and in other aspects is usually the ideal. But still remember that they don't know you, neither are they obliged to. I'm pretty sure they appreciate you but remember that doesn't mean they would like you at a personal level.
@SoloAbsoluteZero2 жыл бұрын
That’s the problem “if you ever want to befriend them”. These big KZbinrs will NEVER be your friends unless your online social status is equal to theirs. Smaller KZbinrs might notice you and befriend you, but bigger content creators don’t care about you. Watch the content, support it if you want.

This is a wonderful video! I've been lucky enough to know some of my favorite KZbinrs, only after they fell off. And honestly, some people shouldn't know their favorite KZbinrs, watching your favorite creators fall off can be depressing, especially after becoming their friends. Of course I can't say their name (Privacy), but one of them unfortunately passed away. That shit is depressing. And there is one I know personally, that lived down the road from me, fell off and is struggling to get back at it, they were growing quickly and were going places (literally being invited places). It fucking sucks seeing it happen. Another is a pretty popular rapper in the gaming community from around 2011-15 that fell off, struggling to keep his rap career going. Point is they can't really be your friend especially out of the many subscribers they have and some of them aren't who you think they are, which luckily I haven't befriended many that aren't good people, but one who is still popular today. (not friends anymore) This video exemplifies that.

I went to a fan meet for a KZbin group called watcher once. The amount of people saying "you're just like me!" To them during the questions section was so crazy. How do you know what they're like? They don't know you and you don't know them. Their lives are personal. They show you what they want you to see. That's what it means to be a public figure. One of the best songs for explaining parasocial relationships is Stan by Eminem. It's where the fictional "Stan" talks and writes letters to Eminem (this was released in the yr 2000), and he slowly gets more and more obsessive and mad that he doesnt reply, and he goes to the point of doing a crime that Eminem did in one of his songs, kidnapping his gf, then he drives off a bridge into the water, killing himself and his gf. It describes an obsessive parasocial relationship perfectly.

Your fucking video gave me a dream lol. I watched it before going to sleep and while I was sleeping i dreamed of this. So irl I'm preparing to meet Orangepeanut (a KZbinr) in a powerlifting meet in June. I'm probably his most known subscriber since I'm the most liked comment on his channel (85k likes or something) have the most comments (over 1k comments i think it may be at 1k1 idk) and donated to him several times, answered to me on dms and on personal specific comment that were addressed to him only so he knows me. So in the dream i meet him but not at the powerlifting meet but for some reason it's his college, that i don't even know how it's made but my brain probably recreated buildings from my other schools I've been in idk. So he sees me, waves to me and then we walk past each other, which is weird since i wanted to talk to him. So i turn my head and i see that he turned his and then I go up to him and he has a face of disgust and runs away from me. So me I'm like "wtf is happening" so then I try to search for him and when I see him same face of disgust and running away and blending in with his friends group to try to avoid me while looking at me scared and stressed. So yeah your fucking video gave a dream where i was anxious of what will happen during the meet so thank you for that lol Ps: and this is even more weird since I'm not at all anxious or scared of the meet but maybe subconsciously i am and this video made it into a real dream? Idk shit was weird

Actually this is a very point-blank video and and a perfect message to give smaller KZbinrs a chance the bigger KZbinrs already made it🤨

I watched this clip of a streamer in a Chinese restaurant and one person donated and started blasting a racist song. Moral of the story disable the voice chat thing when going out in public.

Of course my favorite content creators don’t know me. I’m mostly just an ordinary person doing ordinary person things (and playing video games).
