I've been making music for over 10 years, and your standards will inevitably increase as you improve. I've learned throughout the years is that a song is probably good if you enjoy listening to it repeatedly. It should be that simple

I started taking inspiration from athletes. I realised what separates them from the average guy like me is not their talent (ok, that too) but more importantly their will power to just go on. You're not gonna win every time. Most of the time you'll "lose". The most important thing is not not give up and strive to do the absolute best YOU can do. This is when they say "stop comparing yourself to others". Yes, you should learn from your idols, but don't be disappointed if your music isn't like theirs. Just do the best you can and learn every second you're writing, recording, performing etc.

Music is just an expression of the self, who says the music isnt beautiful or good enough, perhaps society and its expectations? but bear in mind that the goal is to evolve otherwise everything would be easy, enjoy the process and dont try to hard.

I feel I'm always the one of people i know that hypes other people up...giving my opinion on what I think they could do to make their song better. But no one ever does that for me. I am so thankful that you posted this confirmation. I realize this for myself and was spending all this time trying to make the perfect song and one of my buddies told me you have to release more. It’s the only way that you grow. I’m learning to be OK with where I am and enjoy creating because if I think it’s good it doesn’t matter what a whole bunch of other people think.
