All these kind people saying hi KZbin, thought I'd say, Hi Twitch! I feel like this is still accurate to someone like me who has only just reached bronze (context specific, obviously). I feel like I have the necassery skills to get out of bronze, and that process is more of a time investment rather than a showing of my ability to improve as a player. Maybe I do deserve to get stuck in bronze, idk. But from where I'm standing, it doesn't like as much like a mountain as it does a park, and I just need to walk it.

I realized rank isn’t my thing when anyone can play at their personal level thru casual matches (beyond rank indication). Rank just creates an “experience window” to compare among the total player count/exp points. The “thousands and thousands” is immersion-based. If I’m more casual, committing to ranked is difficult to do when inconsistently playing/accessing the game.

I think playing higher level players than yourself occasionally is good for your development as a player, if you have the right mindset you can look at what these players are doing against you and learn from it, its also a good reality check to cement that theres still more to learn and improve upon (and curb egos to an extent)

He has addressed this before. Higher ranked players take less risks and play safe/play to the level needed to win. So while it might seem you "do better" against them, it's just because they are not taking huge risks and going all out, they play safe. If you were actually winning more against them, you would be ranked with them. The reason lower level players can beat you is because you don't have the basics down, can't defend against their tricks, tricks that don't work at higher levels. No offense, this is just what he said in the other video about rank. Higher rank, consistent safe play, lower ranks unga bunga aggro play.

This is one of the reasons I gave up ranked League of Legends. At lower ranks, matchmaking is such a dice roll that the actual key to climbing is to just be consistent yourself and eventually after enough grinding you will rank up. Eventually my delusions of one day being a top player wore off, and I decided the grind was pointless. I just started playing casual matches to have fun and my experience improved tremendously

Allowing diamond players to match against every single rank upwards is the only redeeming feature of CFN. When I hit diamond and started getting matched to ProblemX, Phenom, Takamura (its rare but he does play ranked when there is a major patch, probably to gain experience fast), Infexious..... its awesome. I learn a lot from playing them, and I think I do better now vs the 1st time I got matched to them.

whether my rank matters or whether it doesn't, don't really matter, mainly cause i been swimming in ultrabronze booty for so long that it is just how it is now. i know what my weakness is, it's my lack of patience and respect for the health bar vs the time clock. i can't stand the manner of playing where they just sit there and wait and wait and wait. it's just now how i was raised. i love to run and gun the fk out of that character and i love when the combat is happening fast and my brain kinda goes into a meditative state and i don't even know what has happened until it's over and i'm like "WHO WAS THAT IN MA'H BODY"

cant understand why people judge so fast without taking their time to think and look at the results of a long term period , when a player loses to another player in a match or a small set, 1st its not a big deal 2nd it is not an accurate way to measure who is better in this short term event,, we all saw Daigo loses and get eliminated couple of times but the high lvl players still respect him and they still see him as a target they want to achieve .. Brian my man you don't have to worry about that just focus on getting better and better while the roasters are stuck on silver and bronze or maybe worse .. keep it up bro ..

To be honest I just play against friends and their friends in lobbies instead of ranked most of the time. It's all people I met playing SF4 ranked that were GM. Most of them are GM again in SFV or at least on par skill level wise. I've gone this route because when I play against them, I get minimal connection issues, it works fine 95% of the time. When the game came out, and even not that long ago, I would get so tilted when I'm mid-air SPD then the screen flickers, and I'm back on the ground getting overheaded or thrown after rollback. I'd rather play underwater with one frame links than have people constantly teleporting around and confirms blinking back into me getting hit instead. I wouldn't be so frustrated if the lobbies had the same problems, but not, they're generally speaking fine. Games are rewarding, and I can feel myself improving playing against good players that use their brains. It sucks too, I did my time to get Grand Master Dee Jay, Decapre, and Poison in SF4. I'd like to get a decent rank just for fun with a Poison run or something but barely beating people teleporting isn't exactly fun.

I'm pretty sure I made a comment on the last vid about how the lower ranks are full of, Not Smurfs, but hungry knowledgeable new players. Smurfs take their wins and move on, but everyone else is just floundering around. My problem? I just don't care to play very much, The online just isnt good enough, even though I love the game. I also don't have a local scene. If I did I still wouldn't go, obviously. I can make excuses all day why I have a shit rank in SFV, but you're right. If I just sat and played and improved I'd probably be well past plat by now. Then again. Power Ranger, Skull Girls, and after the Strive Beta? Capcom really needs to have a major netcode update.

Of course. The more you play, the better you get. As long as you focus on improving not just mashing buttons of course. The caveat is of course that some people are just capable of going way higher, either because they persevere more, they want it more, or they have some innate advantage that allows them to do better (although the last one is probably the least likely while being the one people think is the most likely)

They have the MvC:I netcode to use as a base. There’s no reason they couldn’t fix it.

The bottle neck at the top end is going to happem in every ranking system. I see it with age of empires 2 ladder with pros. The top 20 or so players in the world have to wait a long time to find a match before they end up playing someone who is ranked far below them. If they lose they lose a ton of points. If they win they sometimes get 0 points.

I love how some people feel just becuase youre in a lower rank you dont know what youre talking about. Where most players do but the fact they can't level up is becuase of their execution n confirms.
Why blocking is good in fighting games, actually
