You made some valid points. James, Chapter 1 spoke about not just being hearers of the word but also doers. I think a lot of us hear the message and we read His word, but we don't put it into practice. Hence, some of the reasons why our relationships are in turmoil. So, like you said, I pray for my heart to be changed, so I can reflect Christ in my union.
