A good dupe for the skinceuticals triple lipid repair cream is "C.R.E.A.M." by Regimen Lab. It has 2.5% Cermaides in a 3:1:1:1 ratio with Cholesterol, Essential and Non-Essential Fatty Acids. It has no fragrance or essential oils and it's a lot cheaper. They also make a very good vitamin c serum that doesn't get much attention.

I've seen a few derms recommend different alternatives to the skinceuticals triple repair cream including Three ships bio-retinol* shorea butter night cream, skinfix barrier+triple lipid cream or barrier+ skin barrier restoring gel (oily skin), cerave skin renewing night cream or moisturizing cream.

There has been a change to CeraVe PM’s formulation. I loved it for years, but not anymore. It stings and some people have complained about it drying out their skin. KZbinr, Angie Hot and Flashy has stopped using it after years of loving it, for the same reason. Such a bummer. CeraVe PM was my favorite.

CeraVe and Aveeno Calm+Restore in the a.m. (no face washing) and MK Calm+Restore Facial Milk and Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair (after washing off the day’s makeup and sunscreen with Naturium Purple Ginseng Cleansing Balm and Neutrogena HydroBoost for sensitive skin). Your advice to omit actives is golden! My 64 yo face is so much happier. I suddenly developed an allergic reaction to something in my new sunscreen, after injuring my skin barrier with 20% Vit C and tretenoin. I know (now!) to not use actives without following instructions (like making sure your skin is dry!). Your advice helped me! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, and how to fix things when skincare goes bad.

The dieux instant angel cream… is unbelievably amazing for the skin barrier. It’s actually made for skin barrier support. Its a rich cream, but it actually feels “lighter” on the skin and soaks in unbelievably well and leaves the skin so moisturized all day, without being at ALL greasy. Ive tried SO many moisturizers- this one is so uniquely incredible.

Last year I stripped my skin so bad I had to go to a Dermatologist and it took a lot of money, a lot of special expensive creams and oral meds and it took me a year to get my skin back to somewhat normal. Fixing the skin barrier is so hard when you have acne-prone hypersensitive skin. I feel like all of the usual recommended products contain essential oils and shea butter etc!

When I’m dry and flaky or have some signs of overdone tretinoin, I’ve been using those rub off enzyme peels. The ones you put on dry skin and massage around. I’m curious what you think about this because I could see it being too irritating for some people. But for me, it’s the perfect way to slough off some dry irritation that is creating ugly texture
@catnip4587 Жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. I use a Korean one by Goodal. I gently massage it on areas where there is flaking or dry patches. It is very effective and doesn’t irritate. However I would call this a physical exfoliant as it forms these little white beads
@anitamiko9975 Жыл бұрын
@@catnip4587 Yes! Exactly. I don’t know what magic is in there to remove just the very outer flakes without going too deep, but deep enough to smooth and give a refined surface. I use the Saturday Skin peeling gel.
@Rubye269 Жыл бұрын
I do the same and to be honest I think it’s the best way to remove the dry flakes for me. I also have to go to a esthetician one time a month and she does the same. So, I think, as long as your skin can tolerate it we are good to stick with it.

You could check its reviews but some say it works well for their acne skin and some say it doesn't. At least one other derm channel has recommended skinfix skin barrier restoring gel as an alternate to the skinceuticals.

6-8 months, you should start seeing some changes. Start slowly, every 72 hours, and move up the application as your skin adjusts. Don't use any acids until your skin is retinized. Use hydrating toners/serums and sunscreen every day. Good luck 😉
@Teresa_ad Жыл бұрын
@@NotImpressed22 I am able to use it every day and use a very good moisturizer but not sure on a hydrating toner, any suggestions on one. Thank you
@DrSamEllis Жыл бұрын
You may see some softening of the lines after about 6 months. But I always try to remind my patients that deep forehead lines are due to repeated movement of the forehead muscles, so even if the skin there is super strong with lots of healthy collagen, the lines will tend to persist because of the muscle activity.

I've been going through this off and on for awhile now. I pare down the routine and it starts to improve but the minute I add something active again it flares up. Very frustrating.
@DrSamEllis Жыл бұрын
Ugh, I bet! When that keeps happening I think it’s really worth it to examine routine and decide whether those actives add something super worthwhile to your regimen or if overall your skin is better off without them. Chronically inflamed or irritated skin can be counterproductive to a lot the potential benefits that certain actives can offer.
@patriciateague8677 Жыл бұрын
@@DrSamEllis It's especially difficult when things that didn't bother me before seem to cause a reaction.
