The uppercut is a punch that I feel more comfortable with in recent months. I've been landing it clean in sparring and rocked my last opponent with it a few times in my last match. But I'll definitely add and sharpen it with these tools

Awesome video man can you do another video on the overhand right? Different setups, different styles (looping vs more tight) how to land on taller opponent etc… Thanks brotha

Have you seen tim witherspoon and world class boxing’s videos on overhand? If you haven’t check it out, for me they show it the absolute best.

I find uppercuts the hardest punch to practice in sparring because it's so hard to land a soft one. They almost always tend to land straight under the chin or if they tuck, right on the mouth 😓

Nice video. Good info. I think beginners may still be scratching their heads, but this is great info for intermediate. A step-by-step follow-along could help people put together the feet, hips, set-up motions (feint, strike, slip), the 2 variations of uppercut, and how to follow through and return the strike.

Great pointers on a awesome and fun technique. I was suprised you didnt mention the small circle you can make before throwing the uppercut. Maybe as an alternativ or in conjunction to rotating your body before throwing it. Perhaps it's a style thing as that was the way I learned I Thailand, the teori is you can bypass the guard(especially tight guard) more easily. Thanks for the video!

Remembering that shoulder movement helped my shadow boxing 1000%... As well as utilizing quick body punches when setting them up. It was different for me throwing an uppercut into an actual target vs shadowboxing, whenever I would practice those setups or combos, angles, etc. I seemed to do it correctly without thinking about it when having something to hit, but always felt something was off when shadow boxing. Kinda like it was awkward and with less power. That and I would never use the uppercut in the same ways I can now....sure enough it was remembering that shoulder movement. Eventually I'm positive I would have regressed when hitting the bag, pads or sparring, since you perform the way you practice. Having channels like this helps so much for people like me, who can't afford a good gym or trainer to keep those corrections in my mind so it becomes second nature.

Why do so many fighters lately seem to pull back their cross in a big looping arc?? I see it all the time, was always told to pull it straight back A to B. Is it just showboating, or just bad practice maybe? just curious.
Hi gabriel Im your fan from south korea I am east asian and my leg is shorter than normal people(white, black, same asian etc. . .) Can I be good at kickboxing? My body is like upperbody : lowerbody = 1:1 Do you ever see short leg people is good at kicking? (Not just small guy. I mean short leg compared to their height)

I am southpaw and I find it's really hard to land crisp left uppercut(back hand) to orthodox sparring partner. Only long uppercut with lead arm work for me.

Too much follow through on the uppercut and you're basically don flamenco from punch out.
