Working with clay really has given me a place where I can engage in some healthy introspection, sort of all you can really do when you're in the studio alone coning clay and making bowls or plates or whatever. @@safuwanfauzi5014 the ummayad didn't last long in north africa and especially in morrocoo, to have an influence of any kind, their invasion was resisted for more than 60 years and after they took the region they lasted for less than 30 years in which they were hated by the population cause they were violent racist colonizer thiefs, and their only goal was looting the locals, until the revolution against them started in the year 740 and they were kicked out from current day morroco for good, after they were defeated by morrocan revolts in the battle of bakdoura and the battle of al achraf. The Zelij technique goes back to 10-11th century. It started in east of Algeria with hamadid dynasty, a branch of zirid dynasty. The zelij travelled to andalousia (present south of Spain), then back to Algeria, but in Tlemcen this time, and finally reached Fez which managed to keep this tradition vibrant

in this field you have to begin as child, now law forbid to engage children at work, this is the big threat to this industry, cause when a child begin to reach the teenage or above he resist to the orders and can't accept instructions and begin to be more rebel and this is why the majority fail to continue in this path. patience and dedication are keys here
