A different reason, compatibility? In the anime at the end of the demon slayer exam, a crow approaches Zenitsu but he doesn't receive the crow amicably. One assumption Chuntaro saw this and offered to swap places or word got to the sparrow and was ordered to be Zenitsu's aide/sitter
