Don't forget that Zesshi is one of the absolute strongest beings in the new world and can easily trounce just about anybody, she probably never encountered anyone actually capable of beating her except maybe Platinum Dragonlord. At the time, Nazarick had only just arrived in the New World and they just heard of Ainz Ooal Gown defeating the sunlight scripture, Zesshi and the Theocracy had no idea what they were in for.

The worst part was how gravely the theocracy undermined Ainz's intellect, as can be seen from Zesshi's sasugasm in volume 16. The way the theocracy was completely and utterly cornered and doomed from an unrelated war was something that went over most of the reader's heads too. We all knew the theocracy was screwed.... but maybe not THAT screwed....

mare took no damage and she used both her trump cards against him. or was this before that fight was released... he literally didnt fight her forreal the whole time because he didnt know if ainz would want her dead or alive. so after he knocked her out with barely alive state severely injured he called ainz to confirm if he should or not, he said she was strong... but i mean not even strong enough to call aura with his necklace.

Mare fought defensively and conserved his MP, preferring to use various items and whittled down Zesshi. But Zesshi was able to press Mare with her trump cards, he actually panicked when she use the goal of all life is death as that was actually a serious threat, but he survived it and she was shocked. The twins are meant to fight together (and they compliment eachother beautifully) but they are very capable alone as well. Mare is one of those characters that looks weak and timid but has incredible power an abilities. It would be easy for someone to underestimate him based on his appearance and behavior as Jircniv did. He is a guardian of Nazarick for good reason.

@@sirreepicheeprules7443 he was shocked to see a person in the new world use that magic as would anyone else with no info would be but he wasnt pressed his expression was eh?. he casted pheonix robe so its safe to say it wasnt anything to actually worry about. but being undamaged at that point and throughout the entire fight with weakened stealth attire and in an AOE build im saying zesshi probably wouldnt stand a chance againt a more pvp type person in nazarick. also both her trump cards are not really hers, both the abilities are because the scythe. if anything she could do no damage without shushanna's scythe.

theres like a youtube video under the user manas ciel shows like fan drawn art of the fight while reading exerts directly from vol 16 subbed if ya need a review, mare in his weaker stealth gear tanked everything and it also explains the weapon is what holds the abilities not zesshi, it also shows this AOE druid Mare for the most part chillin because he has no order to kill zesshi, he used a weaken version of his stronger spell called "petite catastrophe" if he used his actual trump card he would erase the castle and her. he also didnt want her dead so he called ainz to confirm keep her alive so that he can intrusively take all her memories for review.... hints ainz found out sushanna one of the players was raped by the elf king who was the child of another player but from the other group of players in the past and thats how zesshi came to be, also learned that the theocracy was responsible for what happened to shalltear. also the scythe gave her those abilites but both are weaker than ainz and shalltears versions, ainz's version would obliterate everything including the dirt would age to sand, wheras as hers has a target.

It's also important to note that Zesshi would use [TGoALiD] alongside the 8th tier spell [Death] provided by [Charon's Guidance]. Unlike [Cry of the Banshee] used by Ainz, [Death] is a single-target spell, not an AOE spell. Meaning she could only use it on one of Shalltear, Einherjar, or any number of her high tier undead summons such as the Doom Lord per day from [TGoALiD]'s cooldown, and they would still have to deal with the rest of the enemies.

That's not what happened. The Captain didn't know. However he did know that Zesshi was unstable and so he was handling Zesshi. That's why "he breathed a sigh of relief" when Zesshi accepted his "prepared answer." Yes, the Captain felt that Zesshi should win due to having allies and better equipment. Not because Zesshi *would* but because she *had to*. The alternative was the "end of all hope."

Either the captain didn't have much idea of how strong items look like, or Shalltear's Blood Frenzy made her equipment slots ineffective. Either way captain made the assessment, Shalltear was probably stronger, but a mere monster, no matter how strong it is, can't beat someone like Zesshi, given her specialized gear. I am not sure he knows about Zesshi's talent, he probably only knows Zesshi is very strong, having experienced that first hand.

@@justice32legends in the novels Shalltear didn't use her lance only her claws (biological weapon) against the Black scripture which further reinforced the captain's idea that shalltear is nothing more then a monster who doesn't have equipment and just realizes on her biology

zesshi zetsumei is still a special being considering she can pontentially have access to crazy skills depending on the item she possesses due to her psychometry talent. she can potentially use the special skills world break granted by the world champion job class just by her wearing the compliance with law armor.

While Zesshi obviously isn't anywhere near rivaling any of the guardians, I still think she's probably the coolest New Worlders combat-wise and design-wise (Her personality was surprisingly deeper than expected too) I mean sure, PDL is probably stronger than her, but in the end he's just a dragon, whereas Zesshi's hax make her really interesting, especially since her effectiveness is even more gear-focused than anyone given the nature of her talent. With access to all different types of items, she'd make for a pretty interesting wildcard; especially if she gained a good amount of actual combat experience, something she sadly lacked. She's got the right mindset for PVP strategy, but without the experience, she was never able to reach her full potential.

You'd be surprised... She's closer to the floor guardians than you may think. Don't get me wrong, she would still lose to any and all of them even in a 1v1, but.... I mean, she took on the full force of petit disaster head on and still survived ON TOP OF everything else Mare did to her. Considering how that skill does more damage than the super tier spell [Fallen Down], that is mad impressive.

@@Amodh1257 This. i'd go as far as to say that While 95% of the time Zesshi would lose to the guardians (any in particular) she is high enough level with enough hax that their are probably some instances where she could pull a win on some guardians (Mostly through the use of TGOALID and assuming the guardian in particular doesn't have a self revive skill/item/etc)

Zesshi only believed she could beat Shalltear because the Captain of the Black Scripture told her she could beat Shalltear. Zesshi never saw Shalltear herself, the only thing she knew about her was that Shalltear was strong, but the captain who DID see her told Zesshe that Shalltear was weaker than her. So that's all the information she had to go on. And yes, we know now that Zesshi was capable of using TGoALiD, which WOULD have beaten Shallter had Shallter not had an autores item (assuming Zesshi could survive vs Shalltear for the casting time + 12 seconds delayed death spell, but we don't know for sure if she could, plus Zesshi would only have used it when she realized there was no other way, which means she would've been closed to death by that point).

The strongest beings in the new world like Zesshi and the dragonlords can handle death knights easily, warriors like Gazef could probably put up some fight but most of the new world would be screwed. A whole army of death knights like that would kill alot of people and make alot of squire zombies before a proper counterattack by the dragonlords would kill them all, it would be quite a battle!
