Lot's of info one different zone 2 rides and also cadence work and the big purpose for doing that. Please leave any questions you have. I'd love to answer as many as possible. Also give this videoa big thumbs up. It truly does help the channel. Overall I have absolutly been loving sharing my whole off season with you all. Luckly only one set back which you saw during my 20min power test. But things are looking solid and I am pumped. Thanks for taking the time to watch!

I honestly love making this series. It’s been a fun journey and sharing with everyone has been cool. So glad you are taking some things away from it. That’s huge.

High cadence zone 2 makes a lot of sense when you explain it as you did. Thanks 🙏🙏

there's bronchitis going around up in your neck of the woods so wash your hands alot with dish soap. Excited for you but for me I have 3 months yet until my first race. A long ways to go. I got a garmin watch so I will be running this month and keeping track of my heart rate and whatnot to really knock off the pounds. I found that running really helps strengthen my feet and knees. After a few runs I notice my position isn't as dialed as it should be

I'm in the same boat. First race is in March. So have awhile.

Still wondering about your stomach issues when the intensity is high. I mean, it's bike racing and that is intense. My experience in the past few years is that often athletes have unique issues that the general pop does not have and many times we are left w no resolution. My hope is that a good doc is in your future to help you move forward!!! Keep up the great info!!!!

Great way to mix up zone 2 and get more benefit! Scared for you riding in all dark kit. Why no high viz color vest or jersey so cars can see you?

I do enjoy the mix between these workouts. Keeps it fresh. I honestly do not own any high viz gear. Seems everything that is made these days comes in black.

I always do zone 2 at high cadence, less stress on muscles and zone 2 is for cardio endurance anyway so makes no sense to do a low cadence, save that for sweetspott and above, how I work anyway
@ChazTurmon
@ChazTurmon 11 ай бұрын
Totally agree. There are times to do low cadence stuff just to mimic a a race or group ride but mostly I stay at a comfortable cadence or do high cadence work. So totally agree.

From what I've read, low cadence/high cadence doesn't have any evidence of providing any muscular benefits like people think it is. The only evidence is that people get used to do the low cadence/high cadence efforts in races. Exemple: Cyclocross has lots of low cadence power outputs and sprints have high cadence power outputs.

What cadence work does is it helps muscle conditioning. And producing power across all different areas of cadence such as low, mid, and high. Kind of as you stated above. Cadence work doesn’t build muscle but it helps in coordination and firing of muscles. So in the long run you can condition muscular fatigue with low cadence work and you can condition efficiency with high cadence as well. This I what I’ve learned from studies and seen in not only my training but also others.

@@ChazTurmon I see, I agree. There really isn't much isolated evidence on the subject and it's very difficult to isolate these training components and guarantee that the beneficial effect is theirs alone and not that of the rest of the training variables.

I think this is the cool thing about training. Some things work for some and others not so much. Kind of like strength work. It actually hurts my on bike performance. Even a few months after stopping. I value your opinion and insights!

Do you use the lap button and have cadence and power on your head unit for the cadence drills?
@ChazTurmon
@ChazTurmon 11 ай бұрын
Yes. I have a dedicated “interval” screen. It’s a lap page where I have lap avg power, heart rate, and cadence.

Why are you targeting for only 40g of carbs/h? In recent years research is suggesting that more like around 100g is doable and preferrable. You mentioned stomach issues in a previous video, is that it?
@ChazTurmon
@ChazTurmon 11 ай бұрын
Targeting 40g because I’m in base building mode. No need for 100g an hour at zone 2 power riding.

So you do high cadence during endurance rides. Do you do low cadence during endurance rides? Or is muscular endurance being addressed sufficiently during tempo, sweet spot and threshold rides?

I’ll do some low cadence work at zone 2 but I do the most at z3/z4
