Maybe that's because real life has so many writers while fiction often has one. Every person in history is a writer in the sense that they create the history; its expected that history is so filled with complexities since so the story isn’t really organised by a single mind to make sense of it all. Also we have a trusted narrator in fiction, whereas real life has always room to be more skeptic thus uncertainties.

I think Rolland Storm is the rightful heir to Nightsong after the Battle of Blackwater. If I recall correctly the trueborn side of House Caron is all dead and House Footley was awarded the castle Nightsong by Joffrey.

@@Shho7446 a precedent setting court case in England in the 18th century a custody battle , its a lonf story but the husband married a wealthy woman and gained her fortune and eventually he accused her of adulery and kicked her out of the house and keeped the money and the bady and refused to allow her to even visit the child, she didn't care about the money just the baby and she had a few friends who financed her case which cost a lot of money but she won . But it was still unusual for any divorce or custody battles uptill the 60s and the financial settlements were different. Alimony was turn of the 20th century. And then when woman got custody as the norm there was child support and then it became normal to leave you children in the home with the mother. Like everything this things get abused and exploited and the legal system was infected with feminism and female centric judges. Even in criminal law a man and woman convicted of the exact same crime the man gets 3 times the sentence and its ignored or defended by the equality people or political correctness brigade. Some bad decision spreads into international legal or political practice and it becomes normal. And then they wonder why the marriage rate is at an all time low or divorce at an all time high.

Edric was not his only acknowledged bastard. His first child was Maya Stone. He not only acknowledged her, he visited her daily to play with her. Ned saw that he loved her, he was proud of her. I don't remember which book I read it in, but he did threaten to bring his earlier bastards to court with him to see they're provided for. But he knew Cersei would have had them killed. So I think that's when he stopped acknowledging them. Edric got special treatment because of the circumstances of his conception and his mother's status.

6:25 Wasn't Renly also just a kid at Edric's birth? I mean he died at age of 21 or max. 25 and Edric was maybe 12 or so. Keeping that in minf it really wasn't unexpected that Renly wouldn't care much about him cuz he himself would need to grow up before caring for anyone else

Blonde/black hair, the seed is strong, etc. After his loss at the battle of the Blackwater and his retreat to Dragonstone, he took Edric Storm with him to be educated by Maester Pylos, along with his daughter the Princess Shireen and his Hand O Da King Davos Seaworth, not to mention King Stannis' squire and Davos" son Devan Seaworth in the edumacating art O reading proper guvnah!

When I would see ppl dressed up in costumes playing dungeons & dragons I would think & say these dudes is weirdos lol now I'm an ASOIF devoted fanatic who sometimes forget & have to remind myself that this is a fictional world how cool it would be though if Aegon the Conquerer was a real person who really flew on a Dragon along with his sister wives & their Dragons.
