I've seen a bunch of levels by TMNGaming in the past, but the ones I've seen have been a bit too difficult for me, so I've only really watched videos of them and not played them. Their visuals did impress me, though. This level is much easier, and it will probably be about 7 stars, so I finally get to upload a level by him.
One thing the levels I've seen by TMNGaming have in common is the length, and that's no different here. In fact, this might be his longest work. It's nearly 4 minutes long, and I can't say I got bored at any point in the level. The level does slow down a lot from time to time, but what kept me interested is the story it's trying to tell. It's about the difficulties of being an artist, and the kinda thoughts you go through. I think a lot of Geometry Dash creators can relate to the text found throughout this level.
Visually, it is a mix of a bunch of different designs, colors, and even styles at times, but they're split up or mixed together in such a way that it works perfectly with the story in mind. I'm talking about the first part and the one at 1:51. Both of these parts also allow you to take different routes, allowing you to see even more designs, which made this pretty fun to replay for me before I finally beat it. The gameplay is pretty clear, and while it is slow and somewhat boring because of that, it works well to allow you to read and look at what's going on on screen. This does not work on refresh rates above 60Hz, which is something I'd advise TMNGaming to fix. It deserves an Epic rating in my opinion.

The sad part is, this feels like me in a nutshell. I started playing 5 years back, and similar to what was said in this level, it was just a way of passing time. Eventually, I found my strength was in gameplay, instead of decoration, so I started making layouts. This was my favorite thing to do because I got to mess around with any effect, and any trigger without fearing what people would think of decoration. As I continued, slowly I started to find the ‘bullies’ of GD. The ones that will bully you if you don’t believe exactly what they say. At that point, it seemed like everything I did was criticized very harshly. I listened to their feedback and tried to improve off of what they said, but it never stopped. That made me feel worthless. I tried to talk about it, they laughed at me. I was constantly wondering why I’d been so stupid, choosing to do something that was now a burden to me. And I can actually relate to the insignificance shown in this level. I’ve never done anything big, to help anyone, anything to ever get noticed by even a small group of people. That being said, even if I were to die right out of the blue, chances are close family members would be the only ones to care, since almost all of my friends are online. I’ve also thought over just ending it, because seeing this opened my eyes. The truth to me was this: “The world is a landscape filled with people who will never forgive, or forget. The cause of the world we live in. And I am a person within the world who will never be known, even if I died.” I started to stay away from several people, because talking about this to them, no one believed me. They all laughed at me. Anyways, that’s why this level is so close to me. The “Be Happy” part feels like everyone telling me to keep going, even though I’m the only one in the crowd. The beginning feels like all of the emotional pain that people have dealt to me over the years. These sides of my brain are constantly fighting, and the “please help me” is me. Caught in the crossfire. Not knowing what to think, what to do. Just here. Existing.

Don’t ever listen to people telling you what to do unless it’s good advice/constructive criticism. I feel like most people have shared these thoughts, but only the people who think very critically about it consider doing the things you mentioned. This is a cruel world, and no matter what - however hard you think you will always end in dark thoughts, as the cruel reality is in a thousand years, nobody who was here right now will be here, only some who got lucky will be in history books. One amazing thing I find about this level is how TMN managed to incorporate text as a decoration object so that it blends in rather than protrudes out. As for the message, I agree completely. I remember seeing somewhere that the gd editor is basically "hell for artists" since it's very hard to get motivated to get a project done yet it's just as hard to quit the game, so a lot of creators end up in this limbo state where they have a lot of ideas that get half-executed and not fully fleshed out because of lack of motivation. This level perfectly encapsulates that statement, especially when you consider TMN's history with the game (I believe he tried to quit the game twice but always failed in the end). Overall really good level as expected.

I've known of TMN as a creator for years by now, all the way back to Kuiper by Quasar; he was (and still is) a creator whom I considered to be outstanding, but that still needed to improve. As time went on, and level after level, he became a better creator, and his levels, while dated by now, still reflect that; but, he almost never got any recognition besides some few rates he was given, and most of the time they were way overdue. Now, talking about the level per se, I can safely say it's his masterpiece; all the years he's been creating truly shine in one single level. The idea of taking scrapped works of old and sewing them into a single confection is a really interesting approach; and, what I consider to be its best aspect: its craft. This level, unlike ones like A Memorable Note or Congregation, nails what the aforementioned failed at: conveying the creator's emotions in a nuanced, yet powerful way; creating an actual atmosphere and utilizing the song to enhance said atmosphere. The visuals (say, the glitch effects when it enters the dark place of his mind and/or the old levels of his shown as a memory of sorts); the gameplay, going on par with the visuals and the song; the song per se, being an exquisite piece of auditive atmosphere (props to TOMBOYY for this banger), and so on, make this level stand out. Hopefully, this time Rob won't sleep on TMN and give this its rightful epic rating.

i really want to like this level, and honestly, i do. the concept of old unfinished levels put together like patchwork is executed extremely well at times, and truthfully the idea of it is really good. i can see why this level has come to be many people’s favorites. but... it’s way too overt, in its venting. there’s too much text. it’s really in your face about it’s message. i’ve said in the past (albeit elsewhere) that people self-deprecating on public twitter accounts bothers the hell out of me and this level triggers that reaction quite a good bit. i don’t like the entire last third of the level because of it. if the message were a bit more subtle, (almost certainly including shortening that title,) like if there were a bit less text but still presented in a manner that makes the message sorta clear, i’d like it a lot more. but in its current state, this level just strikes me as... unhealthy. tl;dr: good level that’s brought down a lot by how in your face it is, primarily in the last third

Agreed. The level's message is relatable and the level itself is astounding in many ways, but the amount of existentialism and self-deprecation is uncomfortable to play through. Either the creator himself feels this way this strongly, in which case venting in this way is unhealthy, or the creator does not feel this way and is using these feelings for dramatic effect, which is arguably more uncomfortable to think about since there are many people that go through this every day. EDIT: also messages like "would the world be different if I disappeared tomorrow" are triggering for people who have contemplated/attempted suicide

Damn, that's really all you can say after a masterpiece of a level such as this. They way TMN took this concept, which I imagine could've started out as a small level just about himself, and made one of the greatest art/design/effect level ever is insane. I thought this would be some "boohoo, I'm depressed" shit, but it was actually good and inspiring, tbh. I've experienced something like this but relatively less depressing. Bad thoughts and demotivation hit me back in the day, but after two years without playing GD, and four without uploading a single full level, I finally came back in January and finished a level some weeks ago, and I feel fine and proud of that; this is applicable to several other aspects of my life, btw. This change wouldn't be possible if I didn't fix some things, such as my lack of self-esteem, exercise and discipline, my idleness or my bad habits. Have a good day :)

This might be my favorite level. I have seen a lot of people in the comments who have the same issue I am having, where they feel like they have an idea, but are either too unmotivated to do so. I then just started doing layouts, challenges, and little layouts of ideas that are simple bug yet unique and fun. I love to mess around with different types of gameplay, fast-paced, slope gameplay, etc. I found a handful of people that appreciate my gameplay and my designs, along with a few newer people who have said positive or constructive things towards my levels, and I thankfully haven’t had the issue of being “bullied” in this game. Also I play this game to pass time too, and when i get an idea, I try my best to implement it, and if it doesn’t work, I usually just make it into a layout. And one more thing, there are a lot of people in the GD community that think very critically of layout creators, and overlook the fact that people who do this are trying to have fun and focus more on gameplay than design, since they might not be as articulately good at making a design. I do what I think is fun in this game, and if people like it, I am glad they enjoy it. :)

This is me getting bullied by my friends just about my design and my gameplay coz I never really was a creator mostly a player just getting coins but then me and my friends made a contest for the best level and that was when i took a break for 8 months coz I was in Denmark (Denmark is a cool country I got to play in snow and went to Legoland) so I didn't have too much experience with creating so I just added outlines and placed a few things here and there and I was happy with how it turned out (the level isn't in my Geometricplayz account coz uploading somewhere else like school doesn't work so when when they played my level i placed 3rd mostly my design and gameplay were ugly. Now I am happy I just make decorations with layout blocks and just makemy own kind of style. (Note: I feel like this is off topic)
