I appreciate how straightforward you both are about what your experiences are while work camping. And how it has changed since this journey began.

This is the BEST video about work camping I’ve seen. Great job!! I started in 2020 with a summer gig in Colorado cooking. I hated it. While there I learned about the sugar beets and got a job hauling beets for a subcontractor for that season. The farm we were hauling for hired me direct for the next season and asked if I’d like to do more. I said sure! I got there the end of August and did silage, corn, soy beans and beets and made a ton of money that season. I returned the next season and at the end got offered a job for spring and summer hauling oil and gravel. The sweet thing about it is they let me leave early to make it for the start of silage. Now I arrive in Minnesota in early April and work steady until beets end. I make more in that time than when I had a regular full time job and I’m off mid Nov-early April to do what I want and go where I want. My search for jobs is over for the foreseeable future. Bonus is I get health and dental for the whole year 80% paid by my summer employer. I pay the 20% through the summer. I do like in the truck during the week for the summer job, but I’m single so I’m ok with that. Good luck in your future endeavors and keep thinking outside the box. This lifestyle is what you make it and yall are doing better than most that try.

Oh wow! We had a similar instance with the reputable firework guy. It's got to be the same person. But, like you, we didn't like all the same things you didn't like and we too moved on. Good Move! We fell into Gate Guarding in TX for J&G Security. Cool job! Great pay! Great company! Safe Travels ~Lynette

Thank you for the recap! I've been wondering about the remote job since you hadn't mentioned it for a while; it did seem limiting. I'll be in Arizona later this week to spend a couple of weeks camping in my minivan (same as last year). If you have time on your days off, a day trip to Bisbee is highly recommended. Bisbee and Lake Havasu were the highlights of my trip last year. I think you will love spending the winter in Arizona!

That Nashville Campground looks familiar. Was it the Nashville I24 campground in Smyrna? We visited that campground when we were on our shakedown trip with our new Travel Trailer.

How do you deal with campgrounds reporting the total annual value of your RV site on your W-2? For example, if you stayed 16 weeks and the site would have rented for $500 per week, at the beginning of the next year you will receive a w-2 from that campground which will include your total hourly earnings PLUS $8000 income for the fringe benefit of site? (16 weeks x $500 per week site rent free)

Over the next few years I will end up having a dozen questions to ask. When I finally decide to make the move into fulltime RV life there are many things I will want to take along and a TON I will leave behind or sell. Am I going to want to take my printer on the road? I know, silly question but I had to ask! Now I am heading over to your Facebook page to follow you there.
@whynotwander
@whynotwander 7 ай бұрын
Not a silly question at all! I think that's going to be a very personal answer based on how much you use your printer. For the few times that we have needed to print things out, we can either use the campground/RV resort printer (either free or very low cost) or email it to a UPS store or a Staples and have it printed there. We also love using local libraries to print when we need to. For us, since we only have a 32' travel trailer, it just doesn't make sense for us to haul a printer around, but your living space and printing needs may be different than ours. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching, and thank you for following us over on Facebook, too! Great community over there also!
