Hi Graham, Yes I will experiment with less gain, but will have to wait till I test it flying to know for sure. Regarding separate recorder, yes the wi-ifi mic records directly to the GoPro so no more syncing during editing, yah. :)

I agree with you Fred re sound quality, although will have to actually get some flight time to see how it goes with wind noise etc. Yes major thing is the syncing especially now that I have added Cineform into my editing work flow and the short clips when using the wi-fi remote. Before the remote I just had to sync the sound once, then cut it up the way I wanted, now with a lot of short clips syncing becomes much harder.

Sounds good Robert, Maybe you could try a little less gain on the mic volume as that way the mic would pick up less background sound, like wind noise and the cheering from the spectators. Seriously, does using the wi fi mic mean you don't need to record on a separate recorder and can record direct to the gopro?

Sound quality is not as good as your previous set up? No syncing means its worth playing around with though. look 4ward to seeing your end results!
