A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

There’s absolutely no indication that his parents were to blame for their own deaths. No one had a bad word to say about them, except for Chandler hinting at his father being prone to anger when he was lying during his interrogation. The Haldersons raised their other non-murderous son, too.

This prosecutor gave both a profound opening and closing rebuttal. Unlike the defense, he didn't need to constantly refer to his notes. He described the events in an "easy to follow" manner and I could listen to him all day. The defense's opening was terrible because she did not provide any substantial theory to create a sense of "doubt" for the jury to ponder. Her comments about the prosecutor "telling a story" and what she learned in law school were insults to the legal profession as a whole.

This felt like everything that's been so far unspoken but on the tips of all of our tongues and probably in the corner of every person's mind who has learned of the details of this case. Thank you to W. Brown for opening and closing this trial with the eloquence and sensitivity equal to the depth of tragedy. And finally, for this skillful analysis most of all - cutting through all of Chandler Halderson's convoluted misdirection and seemingly endless twisted breadcrumb trails of lies, to draw us instead the clearest road map to the truth: the one that ends in a verdict of "Guilty". The prosecutor somehow managed to finally say everything that captures the sense of depravity, our shared and bottomless disgust with the defendant, and the juxtaposition of a desperate man with nothing but a pathetic fiction instead of a real life that seemingly felt nothing of butchering the two people whose only fault was unconditionally loving a monster.

I liked them until the end. They really slandered the PD office in an unfair way. We have a system that values the presumption of innocence. They have to respect the defendants wishes. They did the best you could expect for this case unless there is magical evidence out there that they just didn't bring forth in any form. You cannot have true justice without a public defense. I think that the PD did the best they could without horribly falsifying things.

If I had been his attorney, I'd have tried to get him a deal of some kind, not dragged everyone through a brutal trial based on a nothing defense. What a rare and precious gem William Brown is, a lawyer who not only accurately grasps and prioritises the most important facts of a big criminal case, but can communicate them to a jury in a straightforward, easy to understand and eloquently performed presentation. I hope the two defence attorneys were taking notes! Bravo Mr Brown! Here in the UK, we are proud of our lawyers. But I must admit, very few match your level of excellence. William Brown was without question the star of the Chandler Halderson double murder trial. He did the victims Krista and Bart Halderson a huge service in restoring their dignity to them, and delivering justice to the son who so hideously betrayed them. His calm professionalism, warmth and humanity, brought daily comfort to those who mourned the couple's loss, and the destruction of a once united family. Superb work Sir!

I really don’t understand why he pleaded ‘not guilty’!! With the mountain of evidence ….he was maybe finally relevant or so he thought….further evidence if depravity in making his family and his parents close friends have to testify…reliving this horrific loss when there was no defense! What a coward and soulless human carcass. I’m not trying to come up with a dense but if your pleading NG I’m surprised defense didn’t call for a psych evaluation….I mean it was something….thought his clarity in each move after killing them..he was certainly competent. He could have used the Mendez brothers tactic. Glad he didn’t. Maybe the one good cell in his entire miserable soul was to not make up yet another pathological lie that would be a further assault to This was a most impressive group of outstanding professionals across every angle of the search, discovery and finding a mountain of evidence. The people and the people whose job put them on finding every piece of evidence and how the prosecutors skills were aided by such competent officers, forensics, anthropology, etc. I mean do they have the good fortune of having the people at the top of their profession working in this community, township, city, county all part of this township!!! The great teamwork by law enforcement…never seen such a competent group of witnesses all in one trial. They all deserve a big collective pat on the back for all their participation…taking each discovery further in presenting evidence that. Left no doubt of his guilt.

He is a Monster to do such horrible, unspeakable things when he murdered his parents and all because they had caught on & instead of fessing up, he made his parents pay the ultimate price and with such extreme levels of cruelty. My mind is convinced based on the evidence and the lies which all could’ve so easily been avoided before he committed such a heinous act. May God have the mercy on his soul.
