I don't remember WICC having all this echo in the transmission. Sounds more like WABC than WICC. Thanks for posting this It was great hearing Bob Crane and (Big) Al Warren again. What a great gag, the chicken that rates records.

+Lockemeister You're very welcome! This was actually recorded by Bob right inside the WICC studio (not off a radio) as they were broadcasting live. Bob made copies and sent one copy to his cousin Jim Senich and another to Big Al. Both Jim and Al gave us a copy as a resource when we were researching Bob's biography. I don't know what type of recorder Bob used, whether it was a reel to reel or an audio tape deck, but it's likely that the echo is some feedback from the mic. In any case, it's pure radio gold! I wish I could find his airchecks from WICC during the 1950s. From what I understand, Bob's recordings were stored up at the Booth Hill station location, and all were lost in the fire that destroyed the radio side of the building. PS - I also love the chicken gag - Bob used to tell that story a lot! :)
