Brothers, I'm a 51 year old DJ from Oakland. I agree with everything you both said. I have been saying the same things from the beginning. And I've encountered the same hatred from these young demons that Wicked keeps speaking of. I have been a Drake fanboy, Kendrick Fanboy, disrespectful names, hater, kids have told me I don't know hip hop. I've seen all of the battles and wars just like you. I've seen it in the hood when people lose their cool. But somehow these young demons don't want to listen to us at all. The culture is losing.

The rappers that stay in a certain lane rarely have any issues. Rappers that are gangsters and into the drug game are bound to have problems...just like the rest of us who dont have cameras on us. Pac was rolling with gangsters from ny to cali and that beef started because he got robbed and popped in ny...he died because...well just listen to 2pac must die by glasses malone. Fighting that goes on in the hood not even comparable to the fighting that goes on in the the rap industry. Battle rapping is part of the culture, it’s announced and battle rappers know what it is. It’s no holds barred lyrically. May the rapper with the slickest words win. Hood beef ain’t about no battles it’s deeper than rap. Rappers just better be true to what they say, be slick with the wordplay or have tough skin when they get exposed. Street beef is about something else. Shouldn’t be no connections made.

Unfortunately, does Drake help or hurt the culture? Drake doesn’t speak up for our communities? He doesn’t and now becoming problematic. Metro boomin And future titled their albums, “we can’t trust you and still don’t trust you”. He’s too comfortable exploiting black culture and now he’s been called out. Beehive and wicked has a point but lacks nuance in the reasoning why native black folks have been 10 toes down with Kendrick and showing others that hip hop isn’t a playground for fun and games only but a space for native black artists to gatekeep it’s historical and important heritage from a Jew (his mom is a Jew so Drake foundational side is null and void so him saying crap like whipping chics like slaves and other insults like Kendrick Lamar is trying to free the slaves” is very eye opening. He only likes black folks for his vices when we have a whole community of under achievers systematically being shut out because he sucks the air out of the room. Meanwhile, Drake is making music with AI technology and destroying the basic principles of hip hop…originality. Behive and wicked aren’t aware of these conversations yet. So until then..none of this will make sense except stopping the beef so no one gets shot! I get it however that part needs to be mentioned and addressed by the adults like themselves in the room. #stoptheviolenceinhiphop

I think there is a big difference between a rap battle and rap beef. Kendrick and Drake shouldn't be handcuffed to not engage each other because of what someone else may do as long as it stays music. We've all witnessed KRS and the Juice Crew, Ice Cube NWA, LL versus everybody, Jay and Nas, 50 and Ross and so many others that were battles. Rap beef feels like Hit Em Up by Pac or even P.A.N. by Ghetto Mafia. I think it's safe to say most of us love and respect Bhigh and Galaxy Wick and me personally have been a fan of Wicked from the beginning. I just think the media as a whole, like Bhigh was saying, should report the shooting and not add speculation.
