I know why it made you emotional. Good trailer editors are amazing. The soundtrack is fantastic, the performances are lovely, the look is magical. And this trailer is super long, and divided into distinct sections. It shows significant parts of the story of the first act (which is all this film is). It hits all the right feels and makes anybody with even a passing appreciation of fantasy, of musicals, and of this story of these two women, turn into a puddle of emotion.

You are absolutely right. I had no idea it was going to be split in 2 parts. I guess like a 1st and 2nd act on broadway.

@@blondetouragereviews Yeah, it's a bummer, but they also have a point. Like a lot of musicals, Act 1 ends in an enormous way. Without an intermission, it's a challenge to figure out how to transition to Act 2, which takes place an unspecified number of years later. You can certainly do a jump like that in movies. It happens all the time. But the other problem is running time. The full musical on Broadway is 2 hours and 45 minutes. So if you cut it in half, you not only have time for the musical as written, but you can play around in this new expanded world a bit, showing more, even adding a song or two (as I think I heard they have). And finally, you can MAKE MONEY all over again, a year later. No studio is opposed to that, I'm sure :)

The music has such a large impact on a lot of people, but I think that more than anything the nostalgia that we feel for the wizard of oz gives this such a deeply emotional impact when seeing the trailer - great reaction ❤️

I absolutely loved the play, Wicked. It’s really an amazing take on the Wizard of Oz. I cannot wait to see this because it looks amazing and beautiful. The story is a morality story that switches up the original and gives you so much to think about.

I will never forget my first experience of seeing the musical and seeing all the beautiful sets and the costume designs, as well as the amazing talented cast. I really connected with Elphaba, so I am so hyped to see this iconic story come to the screen! Ironically the first musical I ever performed was the Wizard of Oz where I played Professor Marvel and the Wizard. And I even got the chance to perform the show again and share the stage with my nephew. 🧹🫧💚🩷

So I’m not sure what you’re referring to. The Wizard of Oz was released I think In 1938. It launched careers of Judy garland. It was and is probably A top 20 film all time. The wicked witch of the west, who was the antagonist….wicked is the back story of how the wicked witch of the west became the way she was from her sister, Glinda the witch of the north. So this Harry Potter reference is not accurate

Definitely some Harry Potter vibes in a few moments and possibly took some inspiration from it visually, but the book the film is based on was released in 1995, three years before the first Harry Potter book.

I've never seen the Musical, I don't even think we have it in France, and I didn't really enjoyed the book... But I love the Wicked Witch figure and this trailer made me emotional, and I love to see people reacting to it the same. It's been like... 10 years since the movie was announced ? I might buy the second book "Son of a Witch" after seeing the movie
