Honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with what she said. I was born and raised in Decatur, and later moved to Lithonia just before graduating high school (but continued to attend my same hs). We NEVER claimed to be from Atlanta. When attending college in Alabama, people from other states would say we were from Atlanta when we told them where we were from. When I would specify being from Decatur/DeKalb Co., they would say “same difference”, and still lump us all into being from Atlanta. If you were from an area close to Atlanta/Metro Atlanta, it was all “Atlanta” to those people from other states.

I grew up in both Zone 1 & Zone 4, attended APS schools, graduated from B.E. Mays. I went to college in Florida. Over 99% of the people I’ve met while living in FL repping Atlanta ain’t from Atlanta. 😂 They ask me where I’m from, I tell them West Side & SWATS. They look at me like I’m crazy. The ask me to name a street. I tell them West Lake Ave & MLK by West Lake train station or Campbellton road & Delowe to give them a general sense and they look at me like a deer caught in headlights. They then tell me, “Oh you’re from Atlanta, Atlanta” I ask them where they’re from and they name every other city in the metro area 😂 get outside 285, go to another state, and you’ll find a bunch of folk repping the A but never actually set foot there. So, I appreciate Omeretta calling folk out

I'm with it as long as Atlanta doesn't claim all the big artists that drew attention to the city. No Gucci, Outkast, Luda, JD, Migos, TLC, Usher, etc. None of them are from Atlanta, but they made the city look great and bigger than it actually is to the world.
@kennethdavis17662 жыл бұрын
I know Outkast has always repped East Point. All of Dungeon Family (1st generation) have always repped their own respective areas. But they always shouted out the areas to show love.

@@kennethdavis1766 they have repped EP, but people from the outside only know them as atlanta. An album called ATLiens can throw people. Dre even said in the day in the life of andre Benjamin, “no! I’m from atlanta baby, he from savannah, maybe..” I think people get confused by metro atlanta vs actual Fulton county atlanta. I didn’t know most of this til I moved down here and saw all the specific areas.

Wicked said Smyrna and B High almost had a heart attack. I'm from around B High's way, in that Adamsville. Its outside of 285 and not as violent as the other parts of Atlanta. We really don't like outsiders coming to our neighborhoods. B High is right on point. We don't act like Atlantans from other parts of the city. Its that simple. He tried making feeble points about "culture and pride" being relevant but danced around Wicked's point about the same problems, the same experiences, the cultures being very similar. Wicked is right and the same stuff happens in the city i'm from...it's absolutely ridiculous... and the song was made to be petty.

@bahaqueen94822 жыл бұрын
@@tyronthompson2707 Gucci is definitely not from Atlanta but he embodies what the Atlanta movement became. All I’m saying is after living there for 5+ years in Atlanta right by the Ashby station, in midtown area, hanging out in different parts of the east side, living in Decatur on Midway, working in Buckhead, living in Forest Park and dealing with the people from those communities they all have different styles about themselves because the cultures in those specific areas are different. Maybe on a global platform it’s all the same but when you’re really there you can peep how big of difference it is where you can see the skyline less than a mile away vs seeing the top of Stone Mountain from where you’re at. I can understand why somebody from within the city limits of Atlanta would like to point out the difference between them and somebody that from these cities that border it.
