That scene definitely makes the movie a lot darker. The heroes weren’t able to defeat the villain, instead he got betrayed by his “friends”, which are arguably a lot scarier and a lot more evil than he was. And nothing happens to the friends. They’re still out there at the end of the movie. Think about that.

I feel like Scar should’ve been a little higher up. Hyenas are ruthless predators, able to bite through bone. But they also eat most of their prey alive. Hyenas are used to making a kill just to have a bigger predator show up and take it. This is why hyenas will start eating their prey from ANY angle they can get. It’s the mentality of needing to eat, and it wouldn’t do them good to kill every animal on the spot: they would be wasting energy and running the risk of getting their prey stolen from them. So, we could say that Scar was eaten alive (if you believe the fire didn’t automatically consume him)

Probably one of the most iconic and probably 'the' most disturbing deaths from the 'classic Disney movie era' is Facilier's death (tied with Frollo's death). It's not so much gruesome, but it's the disturbing thought of being dragged to the underworld whilst begging for your life. Not only that, he heard his own music playing before his demise, meaning that he knew what was gonna happen to him. What makes this more unsettling is the fact that the whole movie is set in a real-life place (New Orleans) and the place of his death, a New Orleans cemetery, also reflects the cemeteries of New Orleans in real life, known for their Voodoo practices and witchcraft, etc.

The worst thing about Scar's death is this. In the fourth act, Shenzi explicitly states that there is no food left in the valley, and they were starving and angry. Scar blamed the lions for holding out on them. When he betrayed the hyenas, and when they came to pay him back, they were still starving. And Scar was old, weak, defeated. Those hyenas didn't just kill him. They ate him. And if you ever see how hyenas eat, you'll realize that they started eating him while he was still alive.

Just an FYI, Clayton from Tarzan didn't even die from suffocation (hanging) but rather because his neck snapped. Due to the height of his fall, the vine quickly tied around suffocating him and due to the force, his neck snapped. His nervous system broke as his spine probably detached from his skull. Rather painful I'd say
@PT5-Shorts5 ай бұрын
Because his spine detached from his skull (internal decapitation) wouldn't his pain be cut off from reaching his brain?
@pepeeldelaspipas1244 ай бұрын
@@PT5-Shorts i would argue that falling such height and at such pace didn't just internally decapitate him (which still painful and certainly gruesome) but actually physically decapitate him, maybe not fully since he was still hanging, but partially for sure . This would be way more painful since the vine would hazardously cut his neck when reaching the bottom of the fall while the tension on of the vine would finish him by snapping his neck. Even if not lastingly painful It's certainly gruesome

Fun fact about Scar's death: He claimed that Simba was 'A king fit for a meal' which is why the hyenas tried to eat Simba. Fun fact: as brutal and disturbing Clayton’s death was, it was probably even more terrifying for Tarzan. He was shown staring at the hanging body in shock. He also becomes surprised and disturbed when he sees the corpse, so he sits up taller. This proves that his death is very gruesome (the most gruesome in my opinion). Btw, I don’t know how they would make a Tarzan play unless they change Clayton’s death.

The best part about Zira's death is in a deleted scene. Originally she looked like she was about to accept Kiara's help, before she swatted her paw away and grinned as she fell to her death. Just that one little act of defiance would have made her death a whole lot darker to me

I think that Clayton’s death is probably the worst for me. Hanging is something I’ve always found to be as an extremely dark concept, usually since it reminds me of suicide (and gives me flashbacks). It’s a death that when I saw, my eyes widened and I simply stared at the screen terrified. I guess if I had a trigger for my depression, something like that might be it. Which is why, for me, Clayton’s death is extremely dark.

Maybe it's not a gruesome death but rather disturbing, but in the original script (which was animated and even voice acted) Zira from Simba's Pride movie literally commits suicide because she was too obsessed with Scar to accept Kiara's help. That's why the moment she's falling into the raging river, we can see her smiling because the animators just left it that way. Originally she wasn't even screaming, she just happily accepted her death.

I have to admit, seeing the shadow of Clayton swaying there is pretty freaky, and it made my imagination go wild as a kid. I pictured that his face was twisted into a scream, his neck snapped to the side from the force of the vine springing. Idk what Disney thought his body looked like, but it couldn’t have been pretty

realistically, if we consider the height he fell from and his weight (he’s a pretty beefy dude) then he probably would’ve been decapitated, even if it was just a vine around his neck. of course, disney obviously didn’t want to show that to kids, so they went with a more execution-style hanging death, where his neck breaks as soon as the rope goes taut and he dies immediately. even tho it isn’t realistic, im glad they went that way honestly lol
@thylacinegamer63142 жыл бұрын
Looking at the height Clayton fell from, his neck would have snapped the moment the vine went taunt, which would have almost instantly killed him. A pretty gruesome sight but it could've been a whole lot worse as apparently if a person being hanged weighs enough and has the right fall distance, the stop can generate enough force to actually decapitate the person. So while Clayton's death was pretty gruesome, it most certainly be a whole lot worse.
@EnzoEventing2 жыл бұрын
Even though Clayton was a bad dude he wasn't as evil compared to some villains and he doesn't deserve such a gruesome death. At least it was quick but still. Disney seems to be able to get away with a lot of stuff especially for being "family friendly" there are some deaths that are like ok no big deal not graphic but this one really made me question. Especially when noticing it the very first time watching the movie when I was like 6. Not scarred for life but I found it disturbing at the time. Guess when your in a jungle your limited in ways to kill off villains. He could just fell.

She got a wicked smile on her face and replied "No..... Never!" and then LET GO of the cliff. Test audiences thought it was "too dark" and they changed it to Zira simply falling the rest of the way off. The death you described for Zira from the Lion King sequel was originally how she was supposed to die. The edited ending rhat was released made it seem like she slipped off the cliff. In the original when Kiara says "I'll help you" Zira, Silently chuckling to her herself, says to Kiara "No...." and then whispers the words "Never" and willing let's go of the cliff face and falls into the river with a grin on her face. Even now, if you look closely, you can see her grinning while she falls. She isn't flailing around in a panic either. She just accepts her faith, choosing to rather die then make peace with Simbas pride. One of the most underrated deaths in the Disney franchise if you ask me.

@@limeytimey it's a quick lil shot and darkerned in order for kids to not catch it at first, but it is definitely present. And brutal as hell. Especially since Clayton didn't have any leverage before being hung, so we can assume it wasn't an instant death.
@QaRajhCreations3 жыл бұрын
@@deebee9383 That actually depends on how far he fell after cutting the other vines. The "art" of hanging or lynching someone was never an exact science, and general actually killed in one of three ways, depending largely on the set-up of the actual execution. The first way, and perhaps the obvious one, was through suffocation. The rope tightens, and cuts of air-supply to your lungs (and the rest of your body), and since you don't have a steady platform to stand on, and your hands, most likely, are bound, it's a fairly slow and painful death. On the "positive" side of things, you fall unconscious way before you actually die. This was often the cause of death in the more primitive Western settings; guy throws rope over a branch, and hoists the strung-up victim up. Because of this not being an instant death, that is also where you can get the "classic" of good guy shoots rope, man falls down, but is alive (though someone probably should give him CPR, just in case). The second one, which seems plausible for Clayton, is much more instant. This comes from the rope breaking your neck, or rather, the force of the rope suddenly going from taunt to tight, the rope, due to the noose keeps tightening, and flesh, sinew, and your spine just isn't strong enough to withstand such a force in such a short moment. There are stories of the most extreme cases of this one, where the hanging would almost (if not fully) rip the victims head off. Again going with the Western movie genre, this was how (the neck breaking, not the decapitation by force and rope) the public and "professional" hangings almost always delt its death, the victim, or victims, would be standing on a platform built for just that purpose, upon release of a hatch, they drop down and the rope tightens, and breaks their neck. If the fall is long enough that is, otherwise it is a more painful variant of method number one. A third one have occurred, but was more a result of sloppy noose-work. If noose was made too loose, and maybe combined with a shorter fall, the result was that the victim wouldn't die for a long time, as the rope wasn't tight enough to suffocate them, in that fashion, they instead succumbed to a lack of water, so death by dehydration. Which can take two-three days to actually take effect.

Boultar (...hell and hades aren’t the same thing... hades when used, say, biblically, is literally saying “the grave”. Hades’s entire realm is hades/the grave/place of the dead. In mythology the river’s the barrier between the realm of the living vs dead, with getting dunked in the river being what made Achilles near-immortal/invulnerable...but Disney took creative liberties in making it where the souls of the dead resided in addition to it sapping your lifeforce if inside too long. I’m not familiar enough with voodoo to know whether they have something akin to the christian idea of hell, tho the Princess and the Frog chooses to imply the Friends from the Other Side dragging him into something _like_ hell, or perhaps the land of the dead, or something inbetween. But, trying to understand other religions and cultures not only is respectful and dispels erroneous assumptions, it also gives insights into context and deviations from the source material to better understand what’s going on.)
