Very much so. Things that made it so spooky for me was how dark (literally) everything was, that Aurora and Maleficent were silent through out, that the fairies (the comedy relief of the movie) were in genuine terror (the moment when Flora realized that Maleficent was not only there, but already working her dark plan was a highlight of that), and lastly and perhaps most important the music being played.

The Evil Queen’s actions and the scenes in the dark forest are certainly creepy, but not nearly as bad as they are in the ride at various Disney parks. You’re living through all that Snow White went through and the evil Queen is targeting you, so yeah, pretty terrifying.

A scene that really scared me was a particular scene in Bambi. After the Little April's shower song, the music very abruptly changes tone. As we pan from Bambi and his mom to the dark sky and lightning strikes the storm kicks in. The shadows, the sounds, the human vocals that mimic winds, the lightning striking, just.... everything. The oyster scene in Alice was a valuable lesson for me as a kid. What I took out of it is: never blindly go with a stranger. you never know their true intentions. Each kid should watch it.

What about Gaston's death in "Beauty and the Beast"? They really set it up interestingly, because at first, Gaston came across as pompous egotist, but by the end, he, as you say, went full beast- mode (sort of ironically). Also an honorable mention to Forte, the evil pipe-organ in "Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas". He was rather sinister from the beginning, but really again went full-on beast mode by the end.

I have a different gold medal: Mr. Manchas going savage in Zootopia. Think about how innocent Zootopia had been up until then. Act 2 basically plays out like this: #1: Judy trolls Nick. #2: A lot of nude jokes. #3: Famous DMV scene. #4: Cute Godfather reference. #5: ZOMBIE PLAGUE!!! We learn at the end of the shrew wedding that the cute little otter was actually the aggressor. Otterton's victim, Mr. Manchas, describes how he suddenly started screaming, then attacking. And then we see the exact same thing happen to Mr. Manchas. Right before he starts trying to kill our heroes. It went from being a cute "bunny cop" movie to 28 Days Later in mere minutes. I was so unprepared for such that it literally scared a fart out of me in the theater.

Night at Bald Mountain from Fantasia. It’s literally the devil summoning the dead and his demons for the scariest rave party. The bear from The Fox and the Hound. Those red eyes and growls will haunt you. Dumbo’s mother going on a rampage. Horrifying for a human to see a supposably gentle giant angry and a mother losing her baby. The village massacre from Mulan. It shows how ruthless the huns are. Don’t know if this counts as a Disney movie, but Here Here Santa Claus from the Nightmare before Christmas. It’s so unsettling listening to song that’s about kidnapping and doing bad stuff to Santa Claus. Disney movies have really gone soft.

I would honestly switch the positions of seashell story and Mr. Arrows death. The reason Arrow's death is for me more terrifying is because he knew that there was something off from the crew and got lost in the black hole from Mr. Scroop. Looking back, Mr. Arrow deserved much beter than this. I would still be traumatized if he was taken out in hand to hand combat or getting blasted if he was still on the ship, but it would be much more heroic, since he was the reason why Jim had a few trusting issues with Silver and Scroop.

At first I thought he would just yell at her, but as his tritant lights up I realized this is way more serious. And he starts destroying all of Ariel's possessions. It was heartbreaking. Agreed, those scenes are terrifyingly real depictions of domestic violence. I still have trouble watching them as an adult. One terrifying scene you forgot was McLeach's death. I mean, for crying out loud, he fell into a body of water that was home to a bunch of saltwater crocodiles, got chased down by them as he was pulled along by the water current, and almost never saw them coming because Joanna was covering his eyes at first before she escaped to safety. He barely was able to fight them off and no doubt had a few close calls to being torn apart, and when they finally left him alone, he thought he it was because they decided he wasn't worth the effort... Only to then see Joanna waving at him, turn to look behind him, and realize that the crocodiles left not because he wasn't worth the effort, but because they were getting closer to a huge waterfall. The terror sinks in for him as he tries to swim away, but by that point it's too late for him. The currents are too strong, and he goes over.

Rourke's Transformation is really just giving chills. After listening to the music of the scene endless times, i always had chills from it. After seeing the scene itself, i had more chills. Far scarier is that HE SURVIVES. Being an average human that can survive a literal godly crystal that could probably turn you into an actual crystal, and you'd shatter right in placeis utterly horrifying. I imagine the pain he actually felt when getting his organism burnt alive, alongside his skin turning into blue shiny crystal. Although crystalized rourke didn't hold on for a while, and got caught under a propeller in like 3 seconds, the transformation was still a fate worse than death for rourke.

I'm sorry but, how can a bunch of cute, innocent, naive, and unsuspecting baby oysters being devoured by a ravenous and manipulative walrus offscreen be more terrifying than a respected and loyal first mate being sucked into a black hole while screaming in doom, all thanks to one scary, evil, bloodthirsty, murderous, merciless, cruel, cold-hearted, sadistic, and psychotic spider-like alien pirate? 🤨 I mean, we don't even hear the poor oysters scream as they're being eaten alive. In one shot, we see them still gathered around the table as the walrus is about to stuff them all in his huge mouth in one sitting, then cut to the carpenter finishing preperations for the meal and in the next shot, they're in the walrus' stomach. So that's not considered scary enough to surpass the one moment in Treasure Planet.

I don't think the one from The Aristocats really belongs, to be honest. Same with the Great Mouse Detective scene with the cat eating the mouse. Just aren't exactly scary to me. Quite a few I thought should be on here but weren't are these, in no particular order: -The earthquake scene from Fantasia -The scene from Sleeping Beauty where Maleficent puts Aurora in a trance -The whole fire scene and final fight (not just the part where Scar gets eaten) from The Lion King -Maurice losing his way in the forest in Beauty and the Beast -When Rabbit gets lost in the forest in Winnie the Pooh -Chernabog's segment in Fantasia -The forest fire scene in Bambi -This one's more specific, but something about the fact that Dragon Maleficent's fire breath was powerful enough to instantly disintegrate the brick bridge while fighting Prince Phillip has always disturbed me for some reason -Basically every scene with Forte from Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas...just his size and the way his face looks and moves gives me the heebie jeebies.

As a child, Snow White terrified me as a kid. I remember when I was very young, my mom wanted to watch Snow White with me. During the prologue, I was begging my mom to turn it off 😅. Another Disney movie that scared me was the Little Mermaid. It wasn't even Ursula herself scared me. I literally remembered nothing about seeing Ursula in the movie. The most vivid memory I have of watching a Disney movie scene I had as a kid was when King Triton destroying Ariel's grotto. I got so scared by the scene that I ran and hid in the Balcony.

Personally, I'm quite surprised that Fantasia's Rite of Spring didn't appear. First is the T - Rex vs stegosaurus scene. Its violent and is quite a scary sight for young children. It also shows us the harsh and unforgiving cruelty of nature. Next is the drought scene. A commenter on another video presenting this and the former scene pointed out the terrifying reality. The scene shows the horrifying concept of extinction. One bad outcome in the environment lead to the demise of an entire lineage of amazing creatures. The most disturbing part of this is that it actually happened. Granted, not in the way the segment presents it but it happened nonetheless.

Ok, this may be because of hyper-empathy towards animals but i think the scene where the hunters return in bambi is terrifying. I mean: 1. It plays the music that inspired the Jaws theme. 2. We see a pheasant get shot. 3. The characters get chased by a pack of dogs. 4. They then have to out run a wildfire.

Yeah, these scenes are definitely scary, and some of them still make me wince in shock, but I give Disney credit for its willingness to occasionally push the boundaries of family friendly entertainment with moments like these. There are some scenes that I think would've been great contenders for this list too. 1. Kaa trying to eat Mowgli in "The Jungle Book": While Shere Khan is built up as the main antagonist of the film, that doesn't mean there are other characters who can pose a threat to Mowgli on his journey to the Man Village, and here comes Kaa to prove that point. When he first appears near the beginning of the film, he decides to make Mowgli into his next meal by hypnotizing him, and wrapping him up in his coils. That alone is quite creepy, but the way it's executed makes it even worse. Mowgli is completely helpless while Kaa hypnotizes him, save for that brief moment he tries to call Bagheera for help, and once he falls into the trance, he's unable to do anything, as he is completely under Kaa's control. This happens again during their second encounter, when Kaa manipulates Mowgli into trusting him so that the latter can stay in the jungle. What's more is that Kaa nearly succeeds in eating Mowgli during both encounters, and is only foiled by Bagheera and Shere Khan respectively. It really goes to show even without the threat of Shere Khan, there's more shady creatures to look out for. 2. Hercules VS the Hydra in "Hercules": This confrontation between Hercules and the hydra proves to be a very brutal showdown, more so than Herc's fight with Nessus earlier in the film. During the fight, Hercules is nearly chomped on by the hydra several times, before getting swallowed whole by the beast, but even after Hercules decapitates the hydra with his sword, and thinking he had won, it gets worse. The monster reawakens and grows a few extra heads, all of which are hellbent on chomping on Hercules, and this time, Hercules' strategy of using his sword to fight back only makes the situation worse, as each cut off head is replaced with more heads, until finally, Hercules is faced with a monster with several newly grown heads who are determined to make the demigod their meal. Hercules' expression of terror upon seeing this monstrosity is very well justified. The hydra is one terrifying monster that you do not want to end up on its menu. 3. Shan Yu and the Huns from "Mulan": Throughout the film, these villainous foes, led by the ruthless Shan Yu, show themselves as a serious threat to all of China, and the movie pulls no punches in showing off their villainy. From attacking the guard on the Great Wall, burning every village in their path, slaughtering the Imperial Army (including Li Shang's father), and ambushing the remaining army in the mountains, you can tell these guys mean business, and not in the good way. What makes this even more terrifying is that they are a great representation of how brutal war can be. Shan Yu, especially, fits this role to a tee, with how merciless he is in his quest to reach the Emperor and take him down. 4. The Carnotaurus from "Dinosaur": Being set in a prehistoric world of dinosaurs, it seemed inevitable that we'd have to deal with some scary foes, and the Carnotaurus are no exception. While it is true that they had no malicious intent and were just trying to survive in a harsh world, that doesn't make their scenes any less scary. This is first shown during the film's prologue, where a Carnotaur bursts from the forest and chases the herd of dinosaurs, before catching and mauling a Pachyrhinosaurus to death, all while we get a glimpse of the herbivore's terrified expression as it tries in vain to flee for its life. This happens again later on when a pair of Carnotaurs attack Bruton and the scout while they're searching for water, but while Bruton manages to get away, albeit with some bad injuries, the scout is dragged away by one of the predators, and we later catch a glimpse of the Carnotaur eating the flesh off of the scouts body. That is a pretty morbid scene, but further establishes how much of a threat these Carnotaurs are. There's also the scene where the pair attack Aladar and the rest of the heroes in the dark cave, and nearly succeed in killing Aladar, before Bruton interferes and fights the predators off, albeit at the cost of his own life.

I’m surprised neither Night on Bald Mountain nor The Firebird from the Fantasia movies made it onto this list.
