Donnie is definitely the most morally grey turtle in the show... but that is what makes him amazing

True though I gotta say, while Donnie can approach sociopath levels at times, Mikey is the one that actually scares me. When his favorite pizza place was destroyed he was out for blood in a way that would make most versions of Shredder, Raph and Casey proud. He was almost unhinged and just wanted to inflict pain. Do not take away what Rise Mikey loves. He will do everything in his power and more to make you suffer for it. Donnie has a clear weakness, his ego and his susceptibility to guilt for his actions. A raging Mikey not only doesn't have these weaknesses, he loses arguably his only real one in his usual lack of focus and discipline. Without his brothers to hold him back, his bloodlust and newfound focus make a much more serious threat than his brothers will ever be. Like a certain other recent version of Mikey shows, do not mess with what Mikey loves if you do not wish to die a painful death.

This series is very fascinating. Basically the 2012 tmnt was honestly the best and most comic acrute cartoon we will ever get. So they took a gamble and changed it up and put a spin on it honestly made something fascinating and great

Comic accuracy, I would say the 2003 series was actually a lot closer, particularly with the first four seasons, though it definitely had its moments of going off the rails after. But even though I love the comics, and believe 2k3 is the closest, my favorite is actually the 2012 series as well.

I think the original tmnt creators were heavily involved with the 03 series so it would be most accurate. it's not a manga>anime situation where the cartoons adapt the comics. Though they will take characters, the cartoons tend to do their own thing.

Fitting considering the fact that one of the people to work on the 2012 actually started working on Rise right as the show was reaching its finally something I loved about the first season of 2012 and about rise as a whole was their focus on the characters- and Rise taking it a step further with a lot more frequent open displays of affection.

Honestly, I love your analysis of the characters. Frankly, the Draxum spot was spot on. I do not like the angle of his redemption being "But faaaamily" considering, whilst he made the turtles, he was not the one who raised them and, well, it gets old fast that he was more reacting to redeem himself than being proactive e.g. not trying to change Splinter back. Plus, it was a little weird that the yokai hellbent on converting humanity to mutants didn't either have a way of controlling them or even curing them incase one was too strong. If we had more pro-active moments, less ego feeding for this "Blood is thicker than water" BS that's on SU Diamond level, Draxum would have been much less frustrating. Well, since a Netflix movie is on the horizon this year, I do hope the show gets a Young Justice where it comes onto Netflix with a new life.

on the case of draxum's 'redemption', the season was cut in half so they had to rush a lot of things as well as keeping up with the plot. It would be nice to see him again in a more pro-active sense if there is a season 3 though.

I mean, it would be nice if, and if we get any sort of continuation, that we get a story where Mikey tries to help another mutant with an abusive parent but realised that the only way his borderline toxic attitudes worked is because Draxum had no power over them, they could beat him up and the supervision was minimal at best so he behaved and that couldn’t work with other cases.
