I rage quit so hard after I first lost to Dan. I was just like, "You can't even hit him. I'm done." (I kept trying to hit him with Toan's charged jump slash thing, never even thinking to use Xiao.) Took me like, a year to finally come back to the game. lmao

I remember being scared shitless of Dran as the beginning of this song played, and he took into the sky. It was a SOC-level fight, and merely the first boss of the game. The adrenalenic feeling of running around, dodging massive fireballs destroying the land you run upon, only having Xiao and Toan to wound this godly beast. Xiao still has the most adorable sound effects when firing and such.

As if that were ever in question. Loved the big 'f you' Level5 gave us when we completed Demon Shaft and got the most powerful sword in the game... and we'd already beaten everything we'd have wanted to use it on.

I remember getting wholly and totally stuck on Dran. No matter how many times I tried, I just couldn't beat him.I finally went back a couple years later, and the game was even more awesome than I remembered.

I've never had any real problems with this guy. Yeah, he's the first boss, but a few years ago I still discovered I had been using the wrong strategy. I had been using BOMBS instead of swords, which had made it way too easy! I thought I HAD TO use bombs...

The whole Dark Cloud soundtrack puts to shame any modern soundtrack I have heard. Why aren't people learning from this? Please Sony, go back to this. It was much better days when quality actually mattered and it wasn't about pushing release dates to maximize profits.

If a Dark Cloud 3 were made, I would like the feel to be more in the style of this game with the better customization options that the second game has. The Bosses in this game felt much more fun to fight. Funny enough though, I found Dran to be more challenging than all of the later Bosses with the exception of the Dark Genie First Phase

The first time I played (and beat) dark cloud, I had no idea about repair powder, so when my dagger broke, I continued through it... Somehow managed to beat the Djinni Dran with doing only 1 damage a hit. Died a few times, of course.

There's a trick to defeating Dran. It's sort of easier, once you get the hang of it, I guess. You HAVE to hit him with the Cat Girl's slingshot, once he gets on the ground and sits down, switch to Toan as fast as you can and throw bombs at Dran (I recommend 5 or 6) Repeat until the screen fades to black. I know the controller buttons by heart, so I don't have to look at it. ((Just saying, not bragging... I just thought I'd share)) :> Have a nice day, have fun defeating Dran, ya'll!!!

+Kevin Page Both has it's ups and downs. The weapons leveling system in Dark Cloud 2 is much easier to manage and a lot better arranged. Plus it ads a million options for you to do. Also fishing is improved lol.

when you learn you can spam the first hit of the combo with Toan, you tend to drift off to DC2 for the battle system, but MAN dark cloud 2's story got nothing on the first game

Oh BTW when you get to the point where one of the macho bros. tells you "if you don't use any recovery items while in a dungeon won't help" just restart and don't use any recovery items you'll, get good stuff. I managed to get 3 tran. oils by doing this. However the outcome of what you get is never the same, so just warning you it's a very risky move> DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Completely irrelevant but wasn't it Yuuki? Maybe a typo and that's the only time I took note of it...xD But Yuuki and Yuki mean two completely different things... I went to check to see but actually I think it doesn't matter. In Translate Yuuki comes back as Yuki unless you add Terumi to the end. xD Yuuki is just a name but Yuki means snow... Regardless, win for the name you have my respect.

Dc1 is great but ha sso many flaws that it falls under the old clunky rpg category of the early 2000's great game great soundtrack but very hard to go back and play dc2 is pretty much the same but improves the combat so much that it far exceeds dc1 but dc1 will always be my favorite
