Wickenby Airfield Cafe a hidden gem for bikers, Fat Lad on a Bike at the Aerodrome

This episode shows the gang doing the weekly ride out to a cafe of our choice which we call the 'Brekkie Run'.
On this occasion we chose Wickenby Airfield Cafe a hidden gem for motorcyclists and here's what they say about themselves :
A small cafe overlooking the runways, in the old Control Tower at Wickenby Aerodrome serving hot and cold drinks, breakfasts, homemade hot favourites, homemade cakes and snacks. We are open seven days a week. Popular with pilots and aviation enthusiasts, cyclists and motor bikers. Great place for families. Dog friendly. Why not combine your visit with a look at our museum which tells the story of Wickenby during WW2.
This was one of our biggest gangs riding this day numbering eight and bikes ridden included BMW, Kawasaki, and Yamaha. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy various aircraft and flying machines taking off and landing while tucking in to a cracking breakfast or other foody delights. Plus an added bonus there is a museum that has free entry for you to have a look around to.

Great film Steve. I live just down the road from you in Gunness, near Keadby Bridge and have done for 64 years, Been biking since I was 16 and often go out that way, though have never been to the cafe there. Love seeing all the "local " roads and really enjoy the films. keep it up and we may meet up somewhere!.. Cheers Andy

whent to the one at The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, if your going its £6 parking thats for a bay, so if you get 4 bike on it happy days, free entry, loads to see, good cafe near the railway station just on the corner before you go into the grounds, definitely go and see this one though, thanks for sharing.

Saw something about Wickenby, either last year or year before & completely forgot about it. An earlier comment on bikes going there in preference to Willingham, probably explains why some days Willingham has been much quieter than expected. Will have to give it a try. Nice one.

Try Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green airfield, DY75DY, always busy here, lots of aircraft, good cafe. Good run from Lincs area, about 2 hours on bike.

Good to see you out again, unusual to see such a big group. We sometimes call by the Touchdown cafe at Wellesbourne which is a very similar set up with light aircraft, always nice watching them lad and take off while having a coffee. There's no way I would go up in the red auto gyro thing! I'm probably over the safe takeoff load anyway!

Ha ha defo no to copter thing Richard, I have a whatsApp group of 10 riders and each weekend I decide where we are going and put a message on group, this particular weekend 8 of the 10 turned up lol. Excellent ride out, it was great to see such a large group and it made the crack even more fun. You're right about having reservations about flying in those motor propelled buckets. I think I'd rather attach a propeller to the front of my ZZR and get my Mrs riding pillion to stretch her arms out to create some downdraft 😂 I've subbed (again!!) as I'm sure I did before only KZbin likes to rob small channels of any recognition 😕😤
