Many years ago, I kept anoles in a 75 gallon aquarium with a waterfall and lake that took about 1/3 of the enclosure. The waterfall was in the back corner and made of red lava rock. I cut a piece of Plexiglas to size and glued it in to create the lake. And I didn't make it straight up and down, but at an angle so if a lizard got stuck in the water, it wouldn't have any problem getting out. I sealed that up really well, and made a forest in the rest of the aquarium which eventually became quite lush and overgrown. It was beautiful! And anoles - I love those little brown guys (I didn't have the greens). I remember once, I tossed a fly into the enclosure. One of my females immediately went after it with gusto. One huge flying leap, a spectacular fail, and SPLASH!, right in the middle of the lake. A quick scramble up the waterfall (which eventually completely coated itself with algae and moss), and another flying leap into the undergrowth. She did eventually catch the fly, but watching was hilarious.

Yes Adam America is a special place... I know we should measure air temperature in Calculus, because it makes more sense. I'm not in charge of that rule. So a good way to keep enclosure humidity up is through a misting system, or a spray bottle. I learned this trick from a guy who keeps moisture dependent Tarantula species. He burns holes in a juice container cap with a soldering iron. Next he fills the juice container with water. Then he waters the entire enclosure with the water from the juice bottle. He calls it the "make it rain method."

I have all those supplies!! I just don't have red-eyed frogs. Being that my grandparents came from Quebec, guess when I'm really tired, I'm a red-eyed frog, but I don't have an enclosure big enough for myself. Did you know ZEd and Emily from SD were in Michigan to pick up a Caiman lizard? Maybe the local famous reptile zoo was booked that day, but there must be a lot of people like me to pay attention to this stuff and wonder Oh well guess I've caused enough trouble with this comment. I'd jump at the opportunity to visit a reptile zoo, but being from Massachusetts, I can only visit NERD, which is pretty cool. Did you jow Kevin from NERD is very nice in person? Or maybe I just catch him on the right days. I might be lucky,,, He that's right I am Lucky! SOmetimes I forget. Remember every comment is engagement, even the silly ones.

Hi, I set up a few tanks just like this and my question is to you do your springtails ever fall through the mesh lining and get trapped down in the drainage layer I used clay Leca for my drainage layer, put in zoom med mash lining over it, then my substrateadded ice pods and springtails, but can never see any springtails. Eventually, I dug it up and found that all the springtails fell through the mesh lining and we’re down by the lecca. Do you think they crawl back up to the soil or they stay trapped?
