What a find!! It’s a beautiful bag, Dawn. I love it! Cute story… When we were kids, we were going on a trip to visit our aunt in PA. On the way, we stopped at a petting zoo. I might have been 10, and my 3 siblings were younger. My mom had her favorite summer bag, a straw tote that she carried every year. She was carefully watching my brother, when we noticed that one of the animals was standing at her side, trying to eat her bag! I can still hear her laughing after all of these years. So every time I see a straw bag, it invokes that memory of my late mom… Enjoy that beautiful bag!❤

Now that’s something I can get behind. I think it’s so funny when people buy the wicker Dior bags. These are such cheap materials. It probably takes less to make then than the book tote. Yours is gorgeous and how much you should spend. I remember negotiating in the Bahamas in the 90’s for my wicker/raffia bag. 40.00 and I was being generous. Still a great summer bag. Sometimes KZbin needs the voice of reason. Thanks for being this in this crazy world❤️

@@katemiller7874 Thanks Kate! 🥰. I just can’t shell out big money for any kind of material that’s cheap, like wicker, raffia, straw, and denim, no matter how nice they look. The materials cost pennies. I can justify canvas up to a certain point, but once it gets ridiculous I’m out! I’m not willing to pay for a name with nothing to back it up. I got a straw bag in the Bahamas in the late ‘80’s for maybe $10!

All of them were copies of the Michael Kors famous Santorini bags. I have one from 2007, which I just took out to wear to church tomorrow. Also the bags are made of straw which is not wicker. Enjoy! Kudos on the price…good job 🤍

Hi Deborah! 🥰. Yes, this bag is straw. But most people automatically classify this type as wicker because it’s so structured. This bag is from 2006. I don’t know anything about Michael Kors, but this type of basket bag has been around since the ‘50’s or ‘60’s. They are classics!

@@dawnlovescouture2644 That is kind of true and this is the issue I take with you tube channels… no one is held accountable for fact and history and correct pronunciation. If people are classifying these bags as wicker just because they are structured, they are WRONG. There are both straw and wicker/rattan bags which are NOT the same, even though both are made with natural elements. It’s like saying mink and sable are the same because they are both types of fur. Just because people say it, does not indeed make it correct. And shouldn’t people try to be educating as well as entertaining? Everything is just a big op-ed without any knowledge or understanding behind it which is this… In France, traditional French baskets continue to be a staple for market trips and shopping excursions. However, it was in the 1950s when Brigitte Bardot elevated the popularity of baskets, as she was famously spotted carrying one while barefoot in Saint-Tropez. This sparked a fashion trend that has lasted to this day.
