Just a quick comment about the EMWL-1 and murky water. In the nauticam manual for the EWML kits, they recommend to wrap the connecting element with the stretch bands they provide. Unfortunately that prevents from changing lens underwater.

I didn’t spot any stretchy bands in the box mine came in - can you share a photo of them (or link to a photo) - they sound ideal.

Hi Alex, I think this is the 2 black rolls you had in your hands in your wetpixel EMWL unboxing video at 5min58 but you can find I think very similar tapes by looking for 'cohesive bandages'. Nauticam calls them "filter sleeves" (makes it more technical :D ) in their latest EMWL manual (www.nauticam.cn/upload/portal/20210108/202101081155571432.pdf )

@@scubacastor That's me shown up - not only do I have them - there is video evidence of it! I am not sure I still do.

In any case, the good news is they are easy to replace, even in your favorite color :) . I haven't tested yet those sleeves (one of the next items on my EMWL test list). On video, in murky waters, the particles between EMWL elements become annoying moving black spots.

I haven’t used the EMWL but am finding the Laowa probe underwater quite challenging.
@Wetpixel-Live3 жыл бұрын
I've used both, and the fact that you can use AF and camera controlled aperture make the EMWL much easier to use.

I have been struggling with wide angle macro with a Nauticam housing for Canon 7D mk2, Tokina 10-17 mm with teleconverter, and a mini dome port with 20 mm extension. I may have to remove the handles and have the arms attached on the ball points on the housing itself.

Which strobes are you using? The set up sounds OK. although I would add another 15mm or so extension for the 10-17mm with the TC
@neilchapman27113 жыл бұрын
Thanks @@Wetpixel-Live I should have mentioned I'm using a pair of Retras (Version 1). Perhaps another extension will help.
@sinetwo6 ай бұрын
@@neilchapman2711you have the EXACT same setup as me. But I use a D500. Did you figure this out? Did the additional extension help? Cause I don't think that's what Nauticam recommends

What about 1 inch sensor cameras for CFWA work?
@Wetpixel-Live3 жыл бұрын
I think we talk about the advantages of smaller sensors for WAM?
@secretsofthelake19663 жыл бұрын
@@Wetpixel-Live Sure, but Alex mentioned micro4/3 as a sweet spot and compact cameras as capable but lacking the picture quality. However, compact cameras can use really small sensors, such as the popular TG6 (1/2.3 inch) or 1 inch sensor as many others (sony RX 100 line, canon, panasonic). I'm thinking about a small video system around 1 inch sensor but I'm not entirily convinced.

The difficulty is find a good wet lens for this. I only heard of INON bugeye UFL lens, and supposedly image quality is not good.
