Wide Awake - Ephesians 5 - Matt Chandler - Sermon Jam

The gospel had radically transformed the city of Ephesus 15 years prior, but Paul is concerned that the believers’ are again being lulled into sleep by its wickedness. By deceit, rootlessness, the anxieties of the world, and the deception of worldly riches, we too begin to distance ourselves from God, gradually embracing the way of the world. The call is the same for us today-wake up, rise from the dead, and look to the light of Christ.
Ephesians 5 :13-14
But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, ‘Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Matthew 13 : 20-22
As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.

Mr. Kazura, I want to thank you for what you do. I found Matt Chandler a couple years ago, and your video "Of First Importance" was one of my first exposures to him. His teaching of the Word of God and the Gospel has been life changing to me, and the Holy Spirit has since transformed me, and God has replaced my heart of stone with a heart of flesh, sprinkled clean water on me and cleansed me, and put His Spirit in me and caused me to follow His statutes. Everything has changed!! Pastor Chandler, among others, have been instrumental in that transformation, and your videos (with Chandler and a couple others with Judah Smith) were a big part of the start to that. Just thought you should know that what you're doing has significant impact, on me and everyone I'm talking to about what Jesus has done for me. And I've got a big mouth, and talk to a lot of people. The Gospel spreads, and you've helped spread it to me and now I'm helping to spread it to others!! Praise Jesus. Thanks again.

Just want to say this message made me cry. Thank you so much for the kind words, it truly means so much to me and I wont take what you said for granted. 100X thank you, its probably the most encouraging compliment I've ever gotten (really) and to know you were encouraged by these and previous videos is such a blessing to me, and an inspiration to do more. They take a lot of time to put together but this just makes everything so worth it. Praise the Lord that He pursued you and saved you too-continue to run after Him, He is so worth every step!

Here is just one of soooo many evidences of it, which I am rejoicing over big time. Between late 2019 and late 2020, I told my wife I wanted out of our marriage 4 times, every three months, like clockwork. It was bad. I was angry, easily offended, and abusive. I was so deceived and the devil led me to believe I was so important and the world revolved around me. Then God convicted me of my sin, and simultaneously convinced me that when He says "For God so loved the world..." that I was actually included in that! He so loved *me!* even though he knew everything. Fast forward to Tuesday this week. We were in a networking group at church, and we were asked "If you could add any one (American) person to Mt. Rushmore, who would it be?" The answers were Billy Graham, Martin Luther King Jr., and others like that. Sort of heroes of the faith... My wife said, in front of everyone, "My husband. He is my rock. He leads me and points me to Jesus every day." 😢 Bro, that broke me in such an amazing way. Joseph ------ THAT is just one of hundreds of pieces of fruit in just one of thousands of people's lives that YOU are impacting, through the power of the Holy Spirit of the Living God.
