A lot of competitors nowadays are adding some kind of mixture so there is flames visible. Probably a bit to do with show but also for Fire Crew

The only additive being mixed with Methanol is an upper cylinder lubricant as the fuel is very corrosive if left too long. The additive can be scented to reduce how harsh it is to breathe and takes the edge off it. No one is adding anything to make the flames visible.
