How do you connect AEM X to the HP tuner mpvi2?
@reborn74nova5 жыл бұрын
First thank you for this video. I want to make sure I understand one thing. Basically the OBD port connects to MPVI2 with OBD extension cable or MPVI2 connects directly to the OBD port. Then the MPVI2 unit has a USB cable that I would connect to the USB hub. The AEM 30-4110 has a connector with bare wires. I use that to make the RS-232 Serial Device cable and connect the serial to USB adapter to the USB hub. The same USB hub that the MPVI2 is connected to. Then I connect the USB Hub to the computer. Am I correct with the setup? (Basically Wideband and MPVI2 are connected together and sent to computer via a USB hub.)

@@GoatRopeGarage I guess I don't really understand what the serial connector is doing beyond being a pass-through then. Does the serial-to-USB adapter cable manipulate the signal in some way?

@Robert Cote yep, it changes the 232 signal to something that can be read via USB. Unless your laptop/computer has an old school DB9 serial port you are going to have to use a serial to USB adapter. Hey, great video. Question for you - I am just looking for software to connect to my AEM Air/Fuel Sensor (30-0300) so I can log the AFR data to look at later. Nothing else would be connected. Any suggestions? Not sure I can use the HP tuner software as it wants to "connect to a vehicle" before you can add a new channel. thx
@proto-techllc Жыл бұрын
Just create a custom channel list in HP tuner to only show Wide Band information, if using a P01 gen 3 ecu use Pin 55 on blue connector to analog output + (white wire on AEM) and the brown wire on AEM goes to Analog output which is blue plug pin 40. You will need to add EGR sensor voltage in the channel list, create a new chart, and setup user math for that wide band to covert egr voltage to wideband afrs.

Why does AFR only show only in tenths in serial mode when my gauge will show the hundredths decimal ? Is that why you tune in Lambda ?

When is the mvpi3 prolink to wideband o2 video coming out
@GoatRopeGarage2 жыл бұрын
I can do one if those, but it’s pretty straight forward, you will have an analog out and a ground that needs to be connected to the prolink, then in the scanner look for the pro-link analog inputs

Hey bro sorry to hit you up again so soon but I think you did this video before you got the mpvi2 are you still logging the same I’m fixing to put in my AFR gauges 2 of them? Should I still go head and and use the serial and have you used the blue tooth at all on you mpvi2 data logging ? By the way my truck runs insane that’s why trying to get my gauge in it’s running so good I must have jacked something up lol.

I didn't have to change anything going to the mpvi2 for logging with the Wideband, it's the same.

Yeah I was gonna give that a shot, the one I use has windows 10 and this other one I’m gonna try is Windows 8, doing updates on it now, or I figure it’s my wideband it’s a autometer ultra

Chris, this model seems to only have an analog output, which would only work with the pro version. You need one with serial RS-232 to bring it in without the pro.

Did i understand this right So if I have a mpvi2 with an aem wideband x series with obd2 harness I plug my new serial port USB side to the laptop and my db9 to another female db9 and through both of them will be the power and ground wires from my wideband gauge which used to go into a cigarette lighter wiring from the tuning school and now I can tune 3rd Gen gm vehicles without buying a pro feature and a pro link right? But now since I replaced the ciggerate lighter wiring to this serial db9 serial ports where is my wideband getting power from laptop ?

Can you use a 5 volt analogue out put with the mpvi2 using the rs232 serial adapter like you have done on the mpvi1?

My fix to the wideband disappearing from channel list: I had all the cables plugged into the laptop and had the scanner open and ready, started the car, hit scan, the wideband stayed in the channels list and histogram started populating as it should. And I'm running Windows 7.

Is this wideband & lambda tuning set up an ideal path for dialing in a gen III lq4 vs narrow band afr ? I have an OG mvpi looking to get my feet wet tuning my wife’s 01 denali.

Someone please help me out. I take the blue wire from the harness and put it on terminal 2 and the black wire from the harness to terminal 5? Or do I ground the black wire and separate ground to terminal 5?

So could you run your analog signal lines in place of a narrow band o2 back to your ECU? And still be able to use the wideband for tuing?
@GoatRopeGarage4 жыл бұрын
No, the narrowband works on a 1v range while widebands are 5

I didn't notice any noises on different cars, there was one in all the time in which there was noise, but it had rotten wiring, green connectors. But in all cars all engine sensors are analog. And everything works every day for years. Why do I need a digital if the signal update frequency will be 50Hz, make it more, the memory is overloaded with a large data flow

Hi, I have a question on the new mpvi2 device , so my setup is a gauge from (WB brand) hooked to lighter plug to give it power and hooked to O2 sensor and I customized a cable to connect the gauge to a serial port then from there i got a serial to usb adapter and then i plug the usb into my laptop or i get multi usb hub and connect it to the mpvi2 ? I am confused in the last part where do i plug the usb is it into the laptop or a usb hub with the mpvi2 ( which mean both of them in one hub )?
@GoatRopeGarage4 жыл бұрын
Both to the laptop, if it's one of the supported serial wideband sensors the software will see it when you add it to the parameter list.

New to the tuning world. Would I ever need 2 widebands? Or can all this be done with just the single wideband setup? If a single will do, is there a preference on which bank to put it on?

Hey man, I'm trying to tune a 3800SC that's in the back of my fiero. I'm using HP tuners, and have a AEM 4110. I have a db9 cable wired into the gauge, and the same db9 to USB cables I saw was used in the KZbin video about this. I've checked the drivers, and shut down the computer and started it up with the hp tuner and wodebamd connected. Even with all this, as soon as I hit log my wodeband dissappear. Any other ideas?! May have just answered my own question but still want to verify. What i stated earlier did not work. I ended up making a user defined math that subtracted the .48 error from lambda labeled (tailpipe EQErr) and all lines up. Please if there is any better ideas let me know
@GoatRopeGarage5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's a bit leaner than I would expect to see but if you're testing at idle you're still getting air on it most likely.
@Therace-qz8ik5 жыл бұрын
Goat Rope Garage well its reading consistently lean. I just did for comparison today another silverado with no cats and it reads the same. So somehow or another i have my scale not correct? With the user defined math where it subtracts .48 on both trucks gets it near 0 err.
