No, cars are not investments except for maybe these cars. Also, good luck paying $53K for a Scat Pack WB today. Try about $60K for a '21 model and $67K for a '22 model. Since they are going out of production in 23, depreciation appears to play a smaller role here. Prices continue to rise as final production nears. There are many examples of one/two year old cars being as valuable or more so than when new. Well optioned 2022 models are pushing $65K+. As they get more scarce, they will be become unattainable for the average low to middle income buyer.

I get the microeconomics of opportunity costs, but it’s wise to put down 20% to avoid bring upside in the loan. People always say “invest” the money, but a down payment should be saved from disposable income outside of your normal family savings, 401k, etc. Let’s be honest the average person quoting “investment opportunity” as an excuse not to put down a proper down payment doesn’t even have a fully funded emergency fund or fully vested into a 401k so it’s a high percentage they aren’t going to be investing anything into stocks. Most videos I see with these Chargers are payment buyers. Financially savvy shoppers ask how much, broke people ask how much a month. Just my take. Awesome video on the topic and I really like your take!
@910suave2 жыл бұрын
This isn’t necessarily true. Your invest could be getting your CDL which pays 2500-7000 weekly so you could potentially make that back within the first two months of not putting down the down payment

I have a really f*cked up experience involving the down payment I made on the GLK 350 I currently have. Long story short, I totaled a MKS that I hadn’t had even a year. So not only did I owe after the check came from the insurance, but the clock was ticking on finding a new vehicle. So add the fact that I have poor credit, Geico gave me a rental but stopped paying for it when they declared my ride a total loss and sent out a check. I have a 8 to 5 job so every day that I don’t accomplish the main task at hand, my Bank account is going down. The day I got the Benz, I had $3,500 left in the bank, I was willing to throw it all on the table. I was not leaving without a vehicle one more day. I was completely vulnerable and them Gilman assholes picked up on it. Not even my daddy ever done me this bad when I was a dumb f*cling kid growing up. The sticker price on a ‘12 Mercedes GLK 350 was 8K. I paid $3,500 down. And got snaked into a 72 month/ $315 a month “raise my hand to speak, sit down when i pee, force it on me with no lube” deal.
