Thought I'd seen all of Melies' best films, and this one proved I hadn't---really liked this, it had a genuine epic feels to it.

btw, this must've been a huge budget production compared even to 'The trip to the Moon'. So many scenes with different sets!

Would it surprise you to know there's quite a few of this genre of film from around 1892 to around 1905? It was a big thing at the time and there was a general interest in fairy stories and myths at the time, as well. Many directors did it. Georges is one of the best, and definitely the most well known.

The undersea world and its creatures is colorful and visionary; the sets and costumes here are probably Melies' best.

Georges Méliès was one hell of a pioneer in film. Amazing quality. I'm glad to see these reels so well preserved. 120+ years ago!

I watched the Scorsese film, Hugo, last night, a tribute to Melies' work. Johnny Depp was a producer. Cinema should never lose its adventurous and magical quality. Too many are about conflict alone.

I watched an interesting documentary about his studio and how he made the movies. Very fascinating mUnfortunately a lot of those movies are now lost. What a pity.

Magnifique. Georges Meliès s'est beaucoup inspiré de Jules Verne pour ces films. Mais ce cinéaste a été vite oublié car son cinéma muet et fantastique lassait avec l'arrivée du cinéma parlant et réaliste dans les années 1930.

By far, this is the best version, in score and colorization. Bravo, Monsier Melies! Bravo Steffen Wick and Henschel Quartett. I am sure Melies would be proud for this music to accompany his "Kingdom of the Fairies."

I'm in love! So far my favourite Méliès piece. So much magic, imagination, joy and ingenuity. I like the music too, so far the most apt score I have heard, it underlines the magical aspect perfectly, thank you for making this gem even more luminous!

Qué maravilla de película, me imagino que ;la producción, al igual que ahora ha de haber sido costosísima, por los escenarios y su tramoya, el vestuario delos personajes y la edición, por decirlo rápido muy tardada y costosa por los efectos. Qué gran genio George Melié. Una puesta en escena que duró para siempre.
