One of the best videos I’ve seen about how to cast with a shooting head. It was very informative and helpful! Thank you.

Awesome, love it. I've fished many different methods/styles however I always return to the fly rod, preferably without a bung/bobber/indicator. Recently, I've been using a stripping basket, a huge help at least for me.

I am glad you like the video. If you want to cast long distance, the stripping basket is what you need. Tight lines from the camera man 😊

Very informative video and well done. I would like to see a instructional video like this with overhead casting on a two handed rod .

Thanks for your nice words about the video. I have made another series of videos with double handed rods: Here is the whole movie: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2LYY5Z8opuDfLs And here is a little part of it about overhead casting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpnZiJ2Lptd8r80 And here a part of the video with long distance overhead casting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6fIn4WCf9t4l68

What kind of distance is realistic for a single back cast typically? Is there a limitation on the length of leaders you can use?

Can you spey cast this type of line

I was fishing some place with short back room. If I cut a weighted up regular fly line into a compact shooting head,about 26-28ft long,is it too short?will it cause any issue?

what shooting head is used in the video?
@tahoe829 Жыл бұрын
New fly caster here thank you for the wonderful instruction. Would this work for a 280gr weight forward Bass taper fly line as well? Also when shooting this should i use the whole 13.1 meter of head or half of that and shoot the rest out with any running line to control it better? If i try to work with that whole length of head out its a little hard to control. I appreciate any help or advice. Thanks kindly :)

Lars is using af monofilament shooting line - it is normally 24-32 lbs for coastal fishing.

And what if you don't have back cast space ?
@WideOpenOutdoorFilm Жыл бұрын
You can actually achieve quite a good distance with a spey cast using a single-handed fly rod. Check out this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hamtkqFoa5WfZtk Tight lines from the camera man 😊

Good video totally disagree on those line trays on a really windy day they are dreadful.
@WideOpenOutdoorFilm Жыл бұрын
I am the camera man, and I fish a lot for sea trout around the danish coast line. I couldn't live without the line tray - even in strong wind. But I agree - it can be dreadful as you say :-). I think it depends on the circumstances, and the design of the line tray. Thanks for your comments.

@@WideOpenOutdoorFilm Probably 90% of saltwater anglers in Denmark uses some sort of line basket. It is a compromise but they do make life a lot easier.
