Thank you very much for subbing again. Honestly enjoyed this season more than the last five or so seasons of WIDM. Especially as it had me guessing for the first several episodes, but I got it late on - that's about as satisfying as you can get in my book - if you get it too early the rest of the season can be a bit of a letdown. I never want to complain here about my problems with De Mol... it kills the vibe for other people. But now I've got more positive stuff to say, I think there's a few reasons why I enjoyed this season the most out of the last several. 1) No challenges taking money OUT of the pot. It kills the show to watch the candidates win E8,000, only to have it be taken out of the pot in a ridiculous "auction" challenge, as in S17. The whole show is the candidates playing the game. If what they win can be taken from them at any point, then what's the point? You're just watching people do random stuff, there's no stakes to it. This season avoided that trap. 2) It feels like they "leaned in" to this stripped-down, more intimate version of De Mol. Again, going back to S17... they had a challenge in a gigantic arena. And it turned out to be the candidates doing a very small obstacle course, marked out by hay bales in a small part of it, with empty seats all around... it just felt so small-scale. In this series I think they used the locations better (very little "go to a beautiful location, then spend the entire time there looking for road signs and talking on radiophones") and brought in more local flavour. They realised what they had and used it better than they have for a long time. So yeah... definitely for me the best season since S13. I kinda like the shorter, more bare-bones feel of it... it feels tighter, with less filler. Would love them to do another non-celebrity season but sadly there hasn't been one of those since S4. Still a very enjoyable watch this time out.

These finales without an audience are SO much better than the ones with audience! Back to the old times. No screaming people in the background. Nicer atmosphere in the group, more focus on the mole’s actions. I would have liked to see some former presenters in this season though! I guess they already did that in 2010, and chose old moles this time instead. But still, I would have loved for Karel, Art and/or Pieter Jan to have had a role in this season :) (not a big fan of Angela, sorry) Great Mole by the way! Can’t believe I didn’t spot them until 1 week ago.

Two show hosts are actually former candidates, and they both won. Art Rooijakkers unmasked mole Patrick Stoof and the current host Rik van der Westerlaken unmasked Margriet van der Linden. The point is that the former hosts all (except for Angela as there was a different reason) quit because they no longer work for Avro (later AvroTros), and I'm not fully sure if they were actually still game to appear on this show. For the former moles and candidates it was just a game relived, but for the hosts it was actually just work so their situation could be a bit different.

I gotta say Nikkie was so smart at playing this game, I really REALLY had tunnelvision the whole season cause the girl was molling HARD but a girl was just playing the game. I loved it.

I couldn't shake her as a suspect through the entire season! She was always my backup until the double elim when I finally logic'd out that it was Jeroen via quiz answers. And even then she was my backup!

Firstly let us all raise a glass to Marieke for the subtitles and hard work every season! (I will send a donation when I get paid next week for sure :))...Back to boring Sunday mornings for a couple of months :(...I just watched the bonus video on the official website although it was just showing an extra action during the dinner challenge rather than viewer clues, anyway I had to switch on Google auto translate and it was terrible! . .. ... .... ..... I got stuck on Nikkie, so it was a nice twist that she was pretty much onto actual mole Jeroen from Episode 1! It was a shame there were no viewer clues even on the website, they hinted at a few choice words by Jeroen although I'm not sure they made it into the broadcast episodes (e.g. the introductions in Episode 1 where he said he 'arrived yesterday'). Some gutsy play by him, he did well to deflect the whole note saga although I didn't think much of it at the time as if you remember Ruben hid money a couple of times in the Jan season! I do like the traditional reunion but at the same time am gutted I'll probably never get to be in Vondelpark for a live finale, in the next few years anyway, as I went for the earlier season this year but it got cancelled at the last moment due to Corona :(

Thank you for another season of hard work, Marieke! You are amazing! . . . . . . . . How have I been watching this show for YEARS and I still can't figure out who the mole is?! I was DEAD WRONG 😂 Jeroen was a fantastic mole and Nikkie a very deserving winner. She was very clued in, even though she doubted herself for a while. I'm glad she confirmed if she saw anything when she turned around during the boxes task! Poor Tygo, so close yet so far. This anniversary season was really enjoyable and I look forward to January 2nd.

Where are the hidden clues :'(? i can't find them on the website. I did love the fact they went back to the "old school" reunion, without the massive audience. it's more fitting to the show and is a more complete experience for the group i can imagine. They should keep it this way and maybe do a special finale MolTalk episode after the reunion with all the contestants and show more hints, actions and show clips that didn't make it into the episodes. it's a nice way to show how brilliantly this show is put together and a more fitting reason to interact with the audience (if that's even possible after the pandamic).

The mole was my chief suspect though I had a 2-3 others in the mix; I didn't want tunnel vision. .... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... After the encouragement of inviting guest to pretend they had different names, Peggy and Jeroen were at the top of my list. I thought it would be nice if Nikkie, Ron, or Ellie were the mole; however, it was only because I really wanted them to get to the finale. Nikkie was on him the whole time, and I had a feeling that Jeroen was getting the windows to close soon after opening the blinds. Missing the 25 valued rocks was another hint. OMG, I had so many clues pointing to Jeroen that I was surprised that Nikkie was the only one that was onto him. One of the things that truly gave it away to me was when they went past the wishing well, had to go back from the place Nikkie and Tygo were at, escaping; having to go back to find the key really helped them escape. I'm sure Jeroen was surprised that they escaped moments before coming back to get Nikkie and Tygo. Congrats Nikkie for winning and being the only one that didn't get fooled by Jeroen.

AVROTROS officially announced that there were no official hidden clues this season due to having less time to set this extra season up, so we really had to try to catch the mole in action.

The way its been shorter is that this season didn’t have any eliminations where nobody got eliminated and Ron and Patrick got executed in the same execution

Correct me if I'm wrong, this finale seems to imply that the main reason the winner won was because they caught a glimpse of The Mole stealing the exemption in the second episode? If so, that sucks. The show itself didn't have to have The Mole do that in person and we end up with a winner who got their info based more on sheer luck than deduction. Also, where are the clues? That's my favorite part of the finale. On the plus side, I was on to The Mole by episode three and had it confirmed in episode four when Ellie left and never waivered.

Nikkie wasn't 100% sure that she saw Jeroen; after episode 7, she didn't doubt that she did. Hence, she wasn't fully onto Jeroen, constantly spread, etc.

I don't think it's luck per se, but it def feels a bad way to get your mole rumbled. It's a bad challenge on the part of the challenge makers, the risk/reward is absolutely nuts, as there's zero plausible deniability. I mean, while I know Nikkie said she wasn't sure until episode 7, he clearly would have been her prime suspect - and rightfully so. I definitely don't like it as a way for the mole to be discovered, but at least fair play to Nikkie for keeping her eyes open.

"It's not luck, she made the choice to look backwards" I must add on it.... She basically followed the most important clue the former mole she faced gave her. "De mol handelt altijd achter je rug" which literally means "The mole always acts behind your back". The former mole smeared it in all the candidates faces, but she as the only smart enough to act by that crucial hint and did spot the mole as a result. The others were so focused in listening to the former moles that they missed the most crucial hint they gave them. If you think about it (now I must confess I would likely have fallen for that stunt myself), it was to be expected that the mole would steal something while the former moles only served to keep the candidates occupied. When you know the show quite well (and these are all former candidates, including the mole himself, so they should know the show well enough) that was only obvious. The question was, who was smart enough not to fall for that. Apparently Nikkie.... Perhaps a lucky reflex or really smart quick thinking? (Btw. Horace was also smart enough to realize a stunt from the mole, as he took a random box in stead of going straight for that exemption, but he was too late realizing it). This was a kind of a test of realizing the mole would be exposed.... Giving the mole on a silver platter has been done in countless seasons already... Nikkie could be the first to spot the mole that way though.... It was bound to happen sooner or later.
