I have flashbacks to the 1st episode when the final 3 were in their own hotel rooms and when Art was on the TV screen, then the countdown began. 1 week to the finale, just like 2 hours for the 1st task.

Wow. Another great episode! This season has really been one of the best, in my opinion. I love how the episode ended with the contestants back in hotel rooms just like the start of episode 1. Thank you so much Marieke for making it possible for all of us to enjoy this show! My gut is telling me that the mole has to be Olcay. She and Simone were my top 2 suspects from the very beginning of the season. Ruben became a backup suspect for me around episode 3, but he just seems too unlikely at this point. Jan is someone that was never on my list, even though he has done suspicious things, because I still don’t think the producers would have let the mole’s duo fail to open the safe in episode 1. This week, I rewatched episodes 1-8, and I made a list of actions that I personally found suspicious for each finalist. I also added up the amount of money that each finalist actually put into/took out of the pot, that we know of for sure. (I only included money that the contestant won either single-handedly, or as part of a duo, and I only subtracted money in cases where the contestant actually added negative money to the pot. In cases where the contestant failed to win money either by them self or as part of a duo or small group, I did not subtract this money from their total, but I added the failed assignment to the list of suspicious actions for that person. I did not add money in cases where it was unclear how much the contestant earned, for example how many songs the person had correct in karaoke, whether the person took a tube with plus or minus money in the raft, etc. I also did not include the $5000 from episode 4, since we do not know which finalists chose the $5000 and which chose the group exemption). My results were: Ruben-12 suspicious actions and $2250 earned (plus $2500 if he wins), Olcay- 34(!!) suspicious actions and $800 earned, and Jan-15 suspicious actions and $250 earned (plus $2500 if he wins). I was very surprised to see how little Jan had actually earned, and how much Ruben had earned. I would have expected the opposite, based on their edits, and how many of the contestants were voting for Ruben. I just can’t believe that none of the contestants were voting consistently for Olcay. And the fact that Ruben would actually vote for Jan when given the choice between Jan and Olcay...I don’t know. But it has to be Olcay, right? If it is Olcay, they should give her the money. If it’s Jan, I think I would be disappointed. It can’t be Ruben...I don’t know, lol. This is going to be one heck of a reveal!

Thank you so much Marieke for subbing these episodes. Been watching for the past few years now, but this is the first time I've commented. SPOILERS: My head says it's Ruben, even if the editing makes it super obvious that a twist is likely, but my heart says that it can't be him. The reason for this is that if I was in the same situation as him, I would come across in the same way, candidate or mole. Being clumsy, forgetful and not noticing the obvious does happen more frequently than most people think. It's also very hard to fake (without being extremely obvious) for almost 3 weeks, because to most people it's unnatural. I'm going to watch the series again just to make sure, but I'm fairly certain most his actions were either accidents or him just being a colossal ditz. With Jan, I feel he could be a Mole. I haven't really come across a proper fanatical, candidate style Mole before (could have happened in a series I haven't seen yet though), so going in that direction seems interesting to me. To me, it makes it easier to hide motives, because by being perceived as doing well by other people, it's less noticeable when you do something that could come across as suspicious, especially when there's an obvious patsy in the group (Ruben). Also, I would find it awesome if Art said "it was Olcay all along" because then everyone would be impressed, but to me that's a very unlikely outcome. TL;DR - head says Ruben, heart says Jan.

Thank you again! Loved the whimsical-ness of the moon challenge! Very appropriate, but was a little underwhelmed by the final challenge, the car one, oh well! SPOILERS So my final prediction is jan which is insane to say since at one point I had him at the bottom of my list. I LOVE the idea of fanatical player is actually the mole, and he's done a very good job of over the top playing that hasn't resulted in a lot of wins/had a great deflector in Rueben to always pass the blame off to (for example in the car challenge, he easily can say Rueben was awful and made us drive all the way to town, but then Jan never made it to town until the time was up. In the last episode he jumped out of the boat and distracted everyone for a tube or two. I can see him being the mole now and since I live the "type" of mole he would represent, I'm on team Jan now. Ruben I think would be your classic mole, but they focused on him being the mole sooooo much over the last few episodes I would sort of be disappointed from a show perspective if it was him. I would also love if Olcay is the mole since she would represent a very similar mole as Jan, driven and fanatic but not that effective. It would also be the first time no one got it right (to my knowledge...feel free to correct me) which would be interesting to see how it panned out.

I loved the challenges in this finale, and the way they did the test! This has been such a beautiful season. I never would have thought Georgia would be such a beautiful country with such nature and architecture! My theory below ... . . . I've seen at least one sabotage by Ruben in every episode so far, and both other contestants are sure it's him. At the quizzes, the reasons Jan and Olcay gave for Ruben were far more believable than the reasons Ruben gave for Jan. However, every time it seems obvious who the Mole is, it's almost never that person. Last season there were clues in every episode that pointed to Jochem, but Thomas was actually the mole. That's why, in my opinion, it can't be Ruben. Olcay's only mistake/sabotage that I saw was the crossword, but she brought so much money in for the team. So, here's my prediction: MOLE: Jan WINNER: Ruben ... because Olcay voted for Ruben, and if Jan's the mole, she'd be wrong. I hope I'm right, because if Ruben's the mole I'll be a bit disappointed at how obvious he was. Still, it was a good season with interesting challenges and fun contestants (except Stine)!

SPOILERS: * * * * * * * * I'm not saying you're wrong here; but Olcay had the thousand Euro prize in the car elimination race challenge early on, and would've gone out first for sure if Simone hadn't messed up as badly as she did; she was in the highest-money car in the driver's position and got easily caught by the red cars in the Lada Pacman game, she messed up the crossword, she messed up the jigsaw pieces, she might have misdirected Ruben at the observatory, etc. Just about everything I've seen that made me think "That's definitely a Mole action!" has come from Olcay. If it's not her, I think it's likely to be Jan, in which case I'll have been wrong from very early on indeed. Whoever it is, I don't think Olcay wins. Not even if it turns out to be Ruben (and I still can't see it being him.)

Thanks Marieke!!! . . . . . . Love the closer with the hotel room - brilliant ending. I can't believe it's almost over! Definitely in my top 3 series (so far watched 7). I can't really make up my mind - Jan was my mole from episode one (that bloody phone call!), it swiftly changed to Ruben (around the time of the task where they were searching the 3 players who were underground) and Olcay is simply one of the best Mol candidates in the history of WIDM. These three were the only players I was focused on, so it doesn't help much the three of them making it to the finale lol. Ruben is an obvious choice and currently my mole, but I did suspect last year a candidate who was pretty terrible in tasks in it wasn't him eventually - so it does make me question if it's not the case again. Jan is an old mole of mine and looks like the typecast the producers like to choose for being the mole, but I don't really want it to be him... Olcay is a legend and SHOULD win this series, or if she's the mole I'd appreciate her even more! I'm ready for this twist!!! Ranking the possible scenarios tonight (from best to meh): 1. Mol: Olcay. Marieke, thank you so much! * * * * * Probably 80% of the time, when two contestants in the finale are going for the same person, that person is the mole. Often, though, one of these contestants will be edited to be shown wavering between them, pointing to the mole's "pick" as being another slight possibility. From an editing standpoint, I do think we've gotten too much Ruben picking too often for it to really be him. I think the best clue we've gotten so far is the mystery person in the fourth episode wearing the black hoodie. That person has to be the mole imo. Their frame is shorter and slender, so I don't think it can be Ruben. At 23:55 I think we see exactly the type of behavior that a "fanatic" mole would do. Jan is hasty counting the holes on the tire rim and multiplies by four without bothering to see if the other tires are the same. Later, he criticizes Ruben for not knowing how to open the hood on his car, yet he doesn't actually help him; he only tells Ruben how to open the hood when the task is already over. This is the kind of sabotage I expect he'd be doing all season. My guess is it's him, but I had my moles go home the previous two weeks. If it is him, I hope we see some great sabotages in the reveal episode, because it's annoying when the actual mole didn't really do much in the season. Overall, I think they really one-upped themselves this season, especially with the fantastic opening and closing, and I'm glad this show is still on the top of its game.

WHAT!!! I can't believe Ruben didn't choose Olcay. I am still convinced, as I have been since episode 2, that Olcay is the mole. Even in the clips they showed from episode 1, I noticed she was the only one that didn't express any surprise at the realization that they were not in the same place, and may not have said anything if Ruben hadn't overheard on the phone. And yet... no one ever chose her??? So who would win? Strangely, wouldn't it be the person who got the most questions "wrong" for their suspected mole, meaning that those answers would accidentally be correct? And is the winner truly deserving if he never unveiled the mole? If it is Olcay, she should get the pot for doing such an amazing job as the mole! Everyone suspecting the same person, Ruben, helped Olcay a lot if she is indeed the mole. Everyone seemed to know that everyone suspected Ruben, so when someone went home, the thought was probably "oh, they got the least questions right about Ruben" instead of "oh, they thought it was Ruben and went home so it must be someone else." In that way, no one ever had any reason to switch off the person they had been answering that had been getting them through each test. Ruben, though, would have had the luxury of having his options narrow down, and yet, his final mole seems like he has been the most fanatic, contributed the most to the pot, and has had seemingly genuine reactions throughout. Jan as the mole would be a complete blindside for me, even though somehow it now seems most of the other commenters suspect him as well. No matter what, it is setting up to be a very surprising finish. Either I will be completely shocked, or all of the contestants will. Can't wait to see!

It is a strange season, as 80% of the (Dutch) audience lost their mole in Stine and Simone. For the final 3, you could make a case for all three: The fanatic superfan Jan who took the lead during a lot of challenges and thus could have shaped his molegame that way. The naive bossy Olcay, who could've played a direct game in the beginning (hold back money on the market, having to go to the toilet during multiple challenges) and let the rest think she's to open/direct to play a mole. And Ruben, who seems to play more small ball sabotaging, and tried to gain trust with forming bonds. I tend to go with Ruben, because two finalists are so sure of themselves and it is a standard sneaky manipulative mole. If it is Jan or Olcay, we can congratulate them with a great game. It has never happened that the two contestant-finalists got a wrong mole, so it would be a spectacular first if you are right. BTW, you were the winner of the first season of Survivor that I've watched (and I liked that so much that I got addicted to that), so it is great to see you here enjoying a gameshow (that you probably found via the Survivor Reddit). A lot of respect for you and I hope you are still doing well in life.

Another thing to keep in mind is how Jan, in episode 1, specifically asked Ruben and Olcay where *in Kiev* they were, when they had no reason to even consider they were in different cities, and them already having said which cafe they were in.

MrmarioRBLX Jan just wanted to know were exactly (which street) olcay and ruben were. Ruben seems too obviois but I still think he is the mole. Jan might not have brought in a lot of money, but he has had several moment he guided the group into the right direction during an assignment. Olcay just seems to genuine in her reactions to be it, eg. her reaction at being in the finale. I also think the mole would always go for money, since it wont go into the pot but viewers might trust you. This means there is no reason for a mole to not do it. Last 4 suspected ruben, and because I think this group was a smart group I do think they were right. You can alway feel if someone is hiding something for you. Ruben is not a great actor so chances are they just felt he was the mole. However, this season was a lot harder than the previous two for me. I wouldnt be that surprised if it was jan after all

I can't believe there's only one more episode left of this season! I was hoping this penultimate episode would clear up things for me, as usually I have a good idea of who the Mole is by then, but I'm still the most confused I've ever been about a Mole season. * * * * * * Even though last week, most of my gut was telling me that Ruben was most likely the Mole, my gut is now telling me that he ISN'T the Mole after seeing him call Jan during the car/puzzle assignment. If he was the Mole, wouldn't he just have quietly taken the wrong puzzle pieces without telling anyone? Telling Jan that he couldn't do something as simple as open the hood of his car is the action of a contestant who's trying to get others to mistakenly think that he's the Mole, not the action of a Mole who wouldn't want to be so blatantly suspicious. I'm now leaning toward Olcay as the Mole because Ruben's sabotages are just too obvious and Jan comes across as too fanatical a contestant to me. And yet...there has *never* been a season where none of the finalists picked the correct Mole, right? But I don't want to believe that Ruben is the Mole because he's been so terrible at concealing his sabotages, or that Jan is the Mole because I've never once suspected him at any point (and if he was the Mole, surely he would've stalled just one minute longer finding the moon in the 1st challenge...?)...gahhhh! Well done for thoroughly flummoxing me, Mole producers. I'll just have to wait for the finale to see what happens (...but I really do hope the Mole isn't Ruben)!

Thanks Marieke. . . . . . . . For me, the Mole is Ruben. If not, then Jan. Olcay has done her fair share of sabotages, but I doubt that both Jan and Olcay are wrong in the finale. I hope it’s Jan or Olcay, they’d be a fun Mole! Ruben is a very safe person to choose to be the Mole, personality wise. He’s quite nondescript, much like previous Moles. I would still vote for Simone if she’s an option on the test though, lol.

Great fiinal! Love the ending! :) So again I am confused ;D During the first episodes i thought that Olcay was the mole. Then I changed it to Jan. I've never susected Ruben however I think that he was (for the first time) the most suspicious in this episode. He seems like a very passive mole so if it's him I am gonna be a little bit disappointed (but still i will find this season great). But all conestants from the top 5 were voting for him. So there must be a reason. I hope that I am right and the mole is Jan. On the other hand I thought that the mole was supposed to find the safe in the first episode. It would be very cool if it's Olcay. Jan looks very stressed in the end but I don't kno what does it mean :) Can't wait for the last epsiode :)

Can’t wait for the finale! I had Olcay as a possible mole for most of the series, but no one voted for her at the end! Could it be the first season where both genuine contestants get the mole incorrect? I’d love if that happened, but it seems likely it’s Ruben. Would be pleasantly surprised if it’s Jan though!

I really do think it's Jan. He seems to be a very good player but does some really sneaky stuff. Last week, for example. He ''fell'' in the water so he could grab one of the tubes. It seemed very couragious, but he took a wrong colour both times. He switched the colours around.

Thank you Marieke! So now I'm even more confused. Olcay has been my mole throughout the series and still is, but Ruben has behaved very suspiciously throughout the last 2-3 episodes. It could be that he actually is the mole, or it could be that the producers are trying to throw the viewers off as the reveal approaches. But also, how likely is it that 2 candidates who made it all the way to the final are completely wrong about the mole? Either way, I am really looking forward to finally knowing the answer to the big question next week!

SPOILERS: * * * * * * * * I 100% agree with you. I've suspected both Ruben and Jan, but my most suspected person from the third or fourth episode onwards has been Olcay. There's a lot of stuff that points towards her. But there's a lot of stuff that points towards Ruben too. I feel like I almost HAVE to switch, because there's so much pointing at Ruben. His refusing to do the high wire, his taking over the treasurer role right before the two challenges where the treasurer got the "key position", etc... I don't know though. It seems as though he was genuine in his suspicions of Loes early on. And if so, does that mean it's Jan? Someone I also had some serious suspicions of very early on, but which lessened as Olcay came to the forefront a lot more? I find it the hardest to make a case "against" Jan out of the three of them. Take the observatory challenge. He not only won the money with less than half a minute to go (suspicious that it would take him that long, maybe, but if he's going to win it anyway, why wait that long?) but also had no part of the location mixup that caused Ruben and Olcay to lose so much time. It could be anybody. From the contestants' suspicions it seems that Olcay is the least suspicious, but from her actions previously in the series I think she's a prime suspect, so... I'm sticking with her out of pure stubbornness. I absolutely have no certainty and wouldn't be surprised if it was Jan. Ruben would surprise me but he would also disappoint me a bit, I think, because he's played it so "passively".

. . . . . . . Exactly! I'm not as certain as I used to be but I'll be sticking with Olcay as my mole because she's been shady from early on. She covers her mole actions with fanatic playing and enthusiasm. She manages to quietly set things up to fail without being the actual person who triggers the failure - like the wordsearch task where she was telling people to find Tbilisi when it wasn't even there until the very last minute. Or even the observatory task in this episode - she made sure to have a 'location mix-up' with Ruben because it would waste time while allowing her to go unsuspected because it involved Jan's mole. Plus, what kind of candidate just gives away a black exemption?? If it isn't Olcay, then I desperately hope it's Jan. I'd be fascinated to see how he did it because I haven't suspected him once! It'd be a bit of a let down for it to be Ruben because the last few episodes have presented him as such an obvious choice.

Though I am in a Jan tunnel I can’t help but notice this transition scene at 42:11 which features one of the moons which was captured on telesecope by Ruben, if you look at the shot at 15:25 thats Rubens moon, then skip to 42:11 and that’s exactly the same shot

steve s Yes. It used to be that the finalists know and the rest was informed about halfway through the airing in a private taping. Then they introduced the live reveals so the rest of the candidates don't know either. Now nobody knows...

Thanks for the info - I know some reality shows will pay for how long the contestant stays in the game. I was thinking about past seasons, and can quickly remember the mole, but shoot! Can't remember one of the winners.
