A great start to a great season, hopefully. ---SPOILERS--- I think Ron will return one way or the other. WIDM usually does not eliminate people without a proper chance to play the game. He's in the intro - and the place behind him does not look like Moscow. Although, usually when people return, we do not get to see their red screens - and we did see Ron's screen here...

There are a couple of weird things here with the way Ron left. The last sentence is missing "except the mole, they never go home", there was no exit music and no looking back at what the contestant had done in the episode. They've never skipped that so it's rather weird that they'd do that this time. It's just, exit, bye bye, continue. No talk with Art, nothing. His shirt in the group picture is different too.

Thank you Marieke! I can tell that this season will be wonderful. What an exciting first mission! . . . . . . . . . I don’t believe that the executed will be unable to return... that would be just too cruel. (Especially considering we don’t see the executed leave, nor the traditional farewell music, makes me think that a return is probable) With that said, I do have to say I like all of the candidates so far and am looking forward to that very theatrical looking Julius Caesar challenge next episode! Everyone even seems to be dressed for the occasion, haha. My suspects for the Mole are Bella, Simone, and Olcay.

Yes! Here we go again!!! I'm a little bit late to the party, but I decided to watch 2 episodes each weekend so I'd be closing the gap by the finale (and binge watching 6 episodes of WIDM is a bad idea as it would kill the suspense). What a brutal first elimination! The 5 country twist was fantastic and actually gave me goosebumps when they revealed it - WIDM has done it again! I feel sorry for Ron having to leave in the worst test possible. I do believe this year it's going to be a female mole, but so far my only clear suspect is Jan - refusing to share the info about Tbilisi and above all, having the phone call when he already knew it's M18. There's still a long way to go and I need to get familiar with the candidates though. I do normally fixate on someone around episode 3/4. Last year two of my suspects were the winner and the runner up, so it was funny. I hope to get it right this time and not fall for the cruel tunnel vision! Thanks Marieke :)

This has to be my favorite series opener they have really outdid themselves and I hope they keep this up. I honestly dont know what to think in terms of suspects. My initial gut feeling was Jan but there was so much going on here it doesn't make sense. Definitely going to have to watch it again before next week and take some notes.

@@ekmaf7486 Toch niet. De Mol is ontwikkeld door het Vlaamse productiehuis Woestijnvis in de late jaren 90. Toen zijn er drie seizoenen gemaakt, waarna ze gestopt zijn. 6 jaar geleden zijn ze herbegonnen.

And it begins!!!! Wow, what a great opening episode! I will always love WIDM, but I have to admit, the last few seasons have been slightly lacking something in my opinion. They just didn’t seem as fresh and exciting as the most recent Belgian seasons, for example. However, I have extremely high hopes for this season after watching this episode. The opening challenge was great. The fact that they were split into teams of 2 made it easier for me to observe and familiarize myself with the contestants, and I think it was also a good way to introduce the contestants to the game. I saw some very different personalities and playing styles/strategies emerge, and it will be interesting to see how everyone works together as a group....SPOILERS BELOW...When it was revealed that they were all in different countries, my jaw hit the floor and stayed there for about 5 minutes, lol. What an awesome twist! My suspects at the moment are Loes, Olcay, Simone, Jean-Marc, and Jan. Least suspicious is Ruben. I noticed something very interesting at the end of the episode before the test. They usually play the same voiceover in every episode: “Time for the test. 20 questions about the identity and actions of the mole. Whoever knows the least is out of the game. Except for the mole, who never goes home.” That’s not what was said in this episode though. The last sentence about the mole never going home was missing. This must be some kind of clue. I can think of several possible explanations.1) The mole was not one of the 4 contestants who took the test, so it wasn’t necessary to specify that the mole wouldn’t go home. 2) The mole has relatives living either in Georgia or in the country in which he or she started in this episode, and so in a sense, he or she “went home.” 3) The eliminated contestant will be returning, and the producers want to leave the possibility open that he is the mole. I am looking forward to reading everyone else’s thoughts on this episode, and I can’t wait for episode 2!

YESS! This is going to be a great season!! Thanks Marieke for keeping up the good work! *spoilers* It was so tense for the candidates, finding that safe was definitely #1 priority, but with that they also lost so much money calling to Art. It was definitely a risk, as we could see with Loes and Ron, that was so sad for Ron to be eliminated like that. Any clues I got were, Olcay for being very laid back, but that might be in her character and the one that really caught my attention was the phone call from Loes and Ron to Stine and Emilio about the final clue on where to find the safe. I got so frustrated when Emilio and Stine didn’t directly say a word about the clue they got from Art ‘M18’. In which Loes and Ron had to eventually call for Art, losing time AND money and were almost like ‘set-up’ for failure. Also sad for Jan en Jean-Marc, because they had to endure almost an half hour ride with that annoying taxi-driver who of course wanted all the money first.
