Widows, Orphans, Runts, Rivers. What are they in the text, and does it matter?

Widows, Runts, Orphans and RIvers are often not even given a thought, but they are an essential part of formatting and structuring your text in almost any document or manuscript. In this video, I explain what they are and why you need to fix them.
Widow:
A widow is an end of a paragraph (a single line of text consisting of one or more words) that appears at the top of a column.
Orphan:
Additionally, an orphan can refer to the first line of a new paragraph that sits on its own at the bottom of a text column.
Runt:
Often referred to as an orphan, it is a stray word or two at the end of a paragraph somewhere on a page but not necessarily at the top or bottom.
River:
A river in the text is a precise line cut through the text. This effect is often created when justifying text to both the left and the right margins.
