All competators in this extra season did compete before but got eliminated in their respective season before who get a retry to unmask the mole. Of course, one of them is not retrying, but is now the one who needs to be unmasked, if you catch my meaning ;)

I loved how understated this premiere is. The setting for the first assignment was picturesque. I'm excited for this season. It's such a great cast, even though I've never watched Peggy and Nadja's seasons.

It's fascinating how both the 2020 and the anniversary seasons were filmed in countries that were COVID hotspots, but filming took place before the pandemic was a thing. Also, casting spoilers... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . My friends and I were speculating on whether Ron would be included. My Dutch friend was 99% sure he'd be back before anything was announced 😂

It was actually during the task on Elba that I began to suspect the mole, and I must add that I only deemed it possible as I was still convinced somebody else was the mole at that point. However, the handwriting on the mirrors, some guys on Dutch fan channels have been sorting that out like they were cops on a murder investigation, and found a card handwritten with the same handwriting and then I know that only one person could possibly be the mole as faking handwritings is next to impossible.... Fun fact: My real first name is the same as the mole's ;)

I'm really looking forward to this season, I'm personally rooting for Ellie and Nikkie but I'm also super excited that Ron and Tygo are back, and I was so excited for Tina too. I feel really bad for her, that was just really unfortunate.

Ok then! Immediately thanks for the upload Marieke. Instead of spoilers dots, here are a few thoughts I had when the players were being introduced. Tygo: winner of the "most extreme hairstyle change" award 2020. Nadja: doesn't understand how mirrors work. If you look in the mirror, Nadja, the back-to-front writing appears front-to-back... Tina: ever the optimist! ("I will be there at the finale".) My thought at that point was: "Oh, that's gonna come back to bite you." We'll have to see if it does. Ron: YAY Ron! You got screwed in your season. So glad you got a chance to come back! Although let me point out it's literally impossible for you to do as badly as you did the first time, since you got eliminated a good 10mins before the episode had even ended, making you the earliest eliminee in WIDM history... Jeroen: YAY, Jeroen! I love him! Nikki: YAY, Nikki! I love her! Peggy: hello, pre-game Mole pick! Ellie: One of the few people from the 2016 season who had a recognisable character. Although I still would've preferred to see Airen back. Because honestly, she got screwed as badly almost as badly as Ron did. Patrick: Will he once again be everyone's prime suspect? Not sure. Horace: I hope they paid you good royalties for that "Trust Nobody" quote that you used in the same episode that you got eliminated for not voting the Mole that you absolutely trusted... * Ok, SPOILERS. 1) Answering my own point above - backs were, indeed, bitten. Yeah, that was predictable. 2) Five Moles were shown. No player actually faced their own Mole. Only two Moles were from seasons where the current crop of players came from: Inge (Nadja) and Miloushka (Peggy). I do wonder if there's a hint there that one of those two may be THE Mole. Peggy's a top suspect for me right now. 3) A woman asked Horace (was he the only one with a phone?) if he saw his stuff on "a note", wasting a bit of time on a limited time call. Before he could read out the rest of the message, the call ended. Three women were present: Nikki, Peggy, and Tina. I feel as though this may have been the Mole's first act of sabotage. 4) Ron had the most memorable quote of all of them, for me, and he didn't recognise it. According to Patrick, Ellie took his quote also. 5) Horace, Ellie and Patrick seemed to be the best mirror searchers - but two of them messed up their quotes. Horace was the only one who took money from a box, but that means nothing at this stage (frustratingly). 6) Tygo came up with a Spanish name. Er...?! I don't think Ellie or Horace would be chosen as the Mole for reasons relating to personality, and I don't think that it's Patrick either. That leaves a whole lot of people who it could be. Right now though, my top suspects would probably be Peggy and Ron (it would just be awesome if the Mole turned out to be the only person who went out first). Would not be surprised if it was Tygo, Nikki, or Nadja / Jeroen, both of whom have been largely invisible so far.

I think she just couldn't participate, because she's the producer of Zondag Met Lubach, which is a semi-live show that aired during the filming period of this anniversary season. I watched this last saturday and realized something: cause we all know the candidates from other seasons it will be much harder to see them leave. You either get sad cause one will exit soon just like in his/her year or the candidate exits much sooner than the year he/she competed. But i know that after just having watched one episode: its going to be a great season :D

My thoughts to Episode 1... SPOILER! ... - In the Introduction you can see the letters M, O and L. After that you see Ron. Maybe a hint that Ron could be the Mole? 22:53 - 26:43 Peggy ask the group if the had to add only male first names and Nikkie agreed. Could be a mole action from both. I think the task would be easier with male and female names Nikkie was also the one who made the list and rip it into 3 halfs to make 3 groups searching for the people. - At 31:28 Nikkie asked the men for all names and on her list and their friends what costs a lot of time - 46:35 Inge calls Tygo colleague??? My main suspects after the first episode are Nikkie and Ron. Tygo or Peggy could be the mole too.

We agree so much it's scary. My top three are Peggy, Ron and Nikki. With Peggy and Ron ahead by a nose. Tygo would probably be my fourth, although I'd be considering Nadja and Jeroen in that spot too. I will point out that this is REALLY bad for you, as I'm usually dead wrong at this point in the season, and often don't even have the right Mole in my top five!

SPOILERS! . . . . . It was so nice to see some great contestants again! Several of the contestants were from seasons that I haven't watched so I didn't recognise them all, but it was so nice to see contestants like Ellie, Nikkie, and Tygo again, as well as Thomas and Kees. I was gutted when Tina was eliminated, though, because she was a favourite contestant of mine on her earlier season! 😭 I wonder how many more people they'll bring back for cameos! I hope Marc-Marie shows up because he's hilarious! (I'll never forget the time he was mocking Lottie for when she tried to talk to an Australian from a speeding train; my sides hurt from laughing so hard! 🤣) Margriet was a fantastic mole, so she'd be fun to see, as would Susan. I also miss Sanne and Jochem. So many great former contestants; I hope we see them all! The people I really hope we see, though, are the former hosts, particularly Art and Angela. I miss them!

As then you would have known the same assignment came in the first and last episode... I analyzed both situations, and looked at the first episode more critically as a result. SPOILERS Mediocre opening episode, in my opinion. I liked the Fiat 500s. I liked the spin on the usual "pick a thing from a box" assignment. The rest was just meh. Unsurprisingly, I'm cheering for those who I saw in the seasons I enjoyed the most. Jeroen, Ron, Horace, Tygo, Ellie. On the same note - I'm so disappointed that Nikkie is back. I found her so incredibly obnoxious in S19. I guess it's a good decision from the directors' POV, she has a significant online following, she can bring a lot of younger/online audience. Anyways, I'm hoping she'll fall soon. If she's the mole, fuck this season.

spoilers I agree on Nikkie, but those same obnoxious behaviors would make her a horrible mole. I'm torn as to whether I want her to stay because she's effectively above suspicion for me or should go so I don't have to see her anymore.

I think Nikkie is awesome and I hope she stays for a while. She's also not returned because she brings in a younger audience or whatever, but because nearly everybody loved her in her first season AND because she got cut on purpose back in Colombia to be with her dying little brother. She deserves this second chance.

@@BrianStorm742 Interesting. I'm not really interested in the personal lives of celebrities - plus, I don't know any of these people, I'm not Dutch. It's really weird how it was handled by the production. When Janine Abbring or Jean-Marc van Tol couldn't continue to participate, it was simply announced at the beginning of the execution that they left the show. No red screen was shown. I don't see why they wouldn't say "Nikkie abandoned the game for personal reasons", instead of faking the elimination.

Simply announcing her departure would've completely ruined that. Had she had to go one episode later, they probably would've just done what they always do; it was just bad timing.

I'll admit I only really started watching this in 2018 so not too familiar with some of the former contestants, although the former moles was a nice touch, surely Ron is going to be Mole this season right?! (Perhaps a little too obvious to make him it though!), haven't quite worked out yet if I agree with the producer decision to not allow the 'fake names' to count though, as I thought it showed quite clever thinking from the former candidates! (the cafe owner looked seriously p*ssed off when they dragged a potential customer away for a free meal too :))

Dag beste molloten! Graag had ik een shoutout gedaan in deze groep, op zoek naar creatieve geesten die zelf hun eigen widm feestjes organiseren om ideeën en opdrachten uit te wisselen. Heb je zin om lekker te brainstormen of om opdrachtjes te verzinnen om met vrienden te spelen in deze gekke coronatijden, reageer maar gerust! Ik heb zelf al 1 volledig spelletje gespeeld met 6 spelers en komende zaterdag zal de 2e editie lopen met 7 spelers (ik heb dus wel al wat materiaal om uit te ruilen of te bespreken). Marieke, thanks for this! This one (unlike the 2nd episode) hasn't got a "transcript". Can you please make this episode include a transcript? That way I can download the episode _and_ cut and paste the transcript into a make-shift .srt file to have the subtitles you so graciously produce for off-line viewing. Please and thank you.

Episode 1 should also have a transcript. The subs are uploaded as an srt file there just like I've done for the past few years. So I'm not sure what's going wrong then. Email me at [e-mail] if it's really not working.

Nice episode :) never as good as the Belgian mole, but decent to WIDM standaards. I especially liked the tempo as they didnt elaborately introduce all ten candidates! . SPOILERS below . . . Like most, I was so happy to see Ron getting his second chance
