Another awesome video. Really wanted to see this station and Austrian trains when we visited Vienna during our Viking cruise last year but did not get to do so in person due to time limits. But, now thanks to you I get to see this station and these beautiful trains. Thanks so much.

Seeing all these beautiful trains in this beautiful station with everything in such great condition makes me really sad about the deplorable state of most the trains in the U.S. Was recently in D.C. and Maryland and everywhere you see an Amtrak train, it looks old and dilapidated almost like a third world country and it's because of our politics here and the starving of investment in trains. Wish we could be more like Europe when it comes to train and rail investment. Local trains here in Missouri look even worse than in D.C. and they looked awful.

Were just in Canada along Hwy. 401 northeast of Toronto and saw green GO trains as well as freights. The freights were really crawling although the one GO train did seem to moving pretty well.

John Edwards - Railroads in America are run by corporations through investments by stockholders on the NYSE. It's not the government's responsibility to invest in these corporations. Yes, there were times during war that the government intervened, but no more. Furthermore, Amtrak is subsidized by tax payer money. The actual cost of a ticket would be out of reach for the kind of people that ride Amtrak. Before and during WW II, rail travel was the only way to go. Grand Central, Union, Pennsy and other passenger stations in cities were huge busy crowded affairs. Post WW II and prosperity, folks wanted independence, thus the explosion of car ownership. Also for the last 3 or 4 decades, air travel has become cheap and a faster way to get from point A to Z. There's no need for high speed rail service in America. With respect to the railroads, the BNSF runs right through the farm. The right of way is always being upgraded and maintained. The UP is now making the largest expenditure in the history of that railroad by construction a new hump/gravity/rail classification yard in my old stomping grounds in central Texas. Times change.

I disagree about airlines being useful for anything but the longest of trips. When you take all the time to get to the airport and deal with security (needing to get there at least 2 hours ahead of time), you have lost most of any time advantage you would get. I hate flying. Airlines feel they can cancel any flight at any time for no reason whatsoever even after we have paid for upgrades which they then do NOT REFUND even though they cancelled the flight for reasons totally within their control. Delta today was shut down totally for some period of time due totally to reasons within Delta's control. I have never heard of Amtrak being shut down simply because they don't have enough IT people to keep their own computers running. High speed rail would be time efficient over most distances here by airline in the U.S. when you take into account all the time consumed not actually in the air.

heinerle456 Yep. The used ÖBB's wagons are good btw. Some of the old wagons coupled in EC trains in Czechia were horrible, but thanks to ÖBB they are not horrible by now. By this time, there should be some other wagons arriving, i think 8 Amz, 2 Wrmz and lots of Bmz...
@heinerle4567 жыл бұрын
Yes, I took notice of it. WiFi works well, even whilst crossing over the Semmering on-board ČD Railjet several times. ÖBB also decided to increase the number of economy class seats in new RJ units (btw, not well acclaimed by travellers of first class and business class). 2 reasons have forced the decision: 1) Ongoing replacement of EC- and IC-Trains by RJ-Trains 2) Reestablishing of long distance train services between Wien Hbf and Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia (IT).

Der Bahnhof ist ja an Häßlichkeit nicht mehr zu überbieten. "Moderne Architektur" aus den 1960er-Jahren. Unfaßbar.
@heinerle4567 жыл бұрын
