That's the problem young people do have places to go dancing. My era the. 50's that's all we did every chance we got.like the kids in the movie "Grease" Churches held dances Friday night's. Saturday nights was date night, clubs had dancing. Hotels had dinning and dancing. We didn't have to go to the gym to work out. We danced, just like you see in the good old Movies. Maybe watching Dancing with the stars might get you interested in dancing. When you get married you won't have to take lessons. Try it you might like it. It's up to you girls ! Hear is. I am not young, but there is a time for everything, have gorgeous young ladies that are my granddaughters, one is a cheerleader in a major sport, they all dress like queens, but when they are going with the friends they use the ripped jeans, that are more expensive than the regular ones, it is the fashion, I am sure there were fashion items that your grandparents did not like. Being old does not mean not being hip

We had six training sessions, all varying from 3 to 6 hours. That was more then enough practice time, to possibly even perform the choreography while being asleep :)

How wonderful, this reminds me when i engaged in cotillion and contradanse many years ago as an escort at our debutante ball. Gosh, the untold hours spent learning the choreography and signals, the white gloves and tails, what a time it was (1992-93). Great job young folks, so nice to see this art form survive.

Reminds me of the minuet that I was taught in third grade 1944. Everybody is dressed so beautifully white tie and Tails a little rigid on the dancing put me a nice polka. Still it's nice to see people keeping their tradition

It reminded me when I went to the Viena Ball in 2005. This dance is a lot of fun! I never seen it before. I liked it very much, it was different. They are very young people after all. Beautiful!

to be honest: first opera ball was not designated as a ball, dancing was frowned upon. but with Johann Strauss and his brother Eduard conducting the orchestra the attendants decided to move the chairs to free space on the ballfloor and followed their desires.... :D

nun jaaa, es ist *jedes* Jahr in Wien zu bestaunen. :D für den feierwütigen Kalender: am 11. Feb 2021 ist wieder "Alles Walzer" und die Kartenbestellung ist auch schon eröffnet. Vorsicht: unter 315 € (Preis angegeben für 2020 vom Opernball selbst) pro Nase geht es gar nicht erst los und das ist der reine Eintritt ohne jeglichen Sitzplatz und ohne Essen+Trinken. wer sich dazu noch ein Kleid/Anzug leihen oder gar kaufen muss, kommt noch heftiger zur Kasse. glücklich sind die Debütanten dran, die kommen für 120 Öcken rein. ;) dafür sind sie auch die Attraktion des Abends.

@@farahm2502 to be honest: i dont think they will accept 2 males as a couple, because rules are strict: one of them would have to dress in a gown. ;) with the 2 girls it was easy, women dress in suits for decades by now. the sole rule was one of them has to fit into white tie and tailcoat and stay so full evening. and of course the "male" part was to lead vienna left waltz.
