I have taken a crazy adventure. I spent the last couple months binging every episode of cox and crendor for the first time. And oh boy what a Journey how much they have grown. I would listen to about 5-10 episodes a day at work and about 20 episodes a day when they were only 30 mins when they first started. I have to say they said some very very questionable stuff back in prior to the gallbladder arc but hey it was very entertaining. After this episode I will be waiting weekly for each episode to come out. Thank you for the entertainment!

Same, but London is a different barrel of fish, I been to the cinema in London and local cinema (in Norfolk) and its very different, its come down to me and my friends saying 'let's never go to London to see a movie again' people are just down right rude there, I have seen people take out there phones and record the whole movie and no one does a thing. Outside of London, perfectly normal though. I have just hate London in general.

I'm a frequent cinema goer in the UK, the chain I go to does have a "hey shut up and turn off ya phone" thing before movies, and as a whole audiences are...fine? I saw Mission Impossible as well and there were some annoying people, checking their phone mid movie, making a lot of noise with snacks but I haven't personally had people having full ass conversations in a movie

I'd actually argue that Gordon Ramsay has been WAY worse in the UK than the US, particularly early on, he was pretty abusive. I can't say I've noticed the cinema thing though, you may have just been unlucky there.
@Cantimule Жыл бұрын
Definitely not a cultural thing, maybe a London thing.
@andromidius Жыл бұрын
Rude people at the cinema isn't a cultural thing in the UK - not telling rude people to shut up, however, very much is. Somehow its seen as ruder to stop someone being rude. Makes no sense to me. I guess we're just very passive aggressive as a whole. Which probably explains why Punk culture got big here in the 70's and 80's - some of us just couldn't handle the stuffiness anymore so just went full on aggro.
@andromidius Жыл бұрын
Also, that show you're describing is Bargain Hunt. Its pretty much peek daytime television in the UK (make what you will of that) - and its very self aware of how cheap, corny and cringe it is. People lose money all the time, its rare anyone makes a profit (though they don't personally lose anything - its the studio's money, but the contestants get to keep any profits and the 'grand prize' used to be a small golden gavel pin but they replaced it with an actual gavel made of golden wood. Its an unbelievably cheap show). Its also extremely hard to even drawn even since they are buying retail and selling at auction - aka, the wrong way round - but the point of it is just to showcase oddities people collect and show how weird middle class Brits are.

British Person on the theatre and cinema: Firstly, you talking about people jumping out and such, that does kind of happen in certain horror plays. For instance, The Woman In Black was a play before it was a film, and they actually had the ghost out in the audience who would then jumpscare people from behind etc. Secondly, the cinema: It's a mixture of bad luck, British social awkwardness and a genuine growing problem. So most British people do not talk during films and hate those do. However, you do have the occasional idiotic jerks who have no problem talking and being on their phone and so on, and honestly I've noticed it happening more and more. The problem is British politeness/social awkwardness that a lot of people won't say anything to those people because they don't want to make a scene, potentially start an argument etc. It's that weird British mentality of if we see someone being rude and loud in public and causing a problem, we don't want to complain about them because we don't want to get involved, so we just kind of put up with it and complain about it later. This is despite the fact that the idiots would probably shut up in like 95% of cases, and not saying anything just encourages the behaviour. So while it doesn't happen at all screenings, I'd say it probably occurs at like 10 to 20% of film showings I've seen. There's a higher chance of it happening in larger cities because there's a higher chance of their being idiots and a lower chance of people telling them to stop because people in cities are more afraid to talk to strangers fir various reasons. London is by far the biggest city in the UK so there's a higher chance of it there. Honestly its kind of sad that I've also seen less cinemas showing the "don't talk during the film" ads as well. I went to a film recently and they genuinely said just leave your trash in the seats. They've basically gotten so many people not taking it to the bin (trash can) that's like 20ft away that they've just given up. I felt guilty leaving mine there even though they said to. Dan Howell (formally Danisnotonfire) has a video on this from like 11 years ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaqzq4mvlN-lfK8&ab_channel=DanielHowell
