20190211 - Join us as we recap our weekend! We have not one, but two projects we're starting at the same time. Wrapping up the remodel of our kitchen, and remodel of our downstairs bathroom. As a result, our house is a huge mess, and tempers are short. However, progress is being made and we still love each other.

You guys sound just like my wife and me. Over 46 years we have remodeled, built, or rebuilt many houses. She gets the final say on color and style, I get the final say on quality and structure. Compromise plays a big part in everything we do together. I think your house is really cool. The oldest house we worked on was our first, it was built in 1906.

One side of my house was built between 1820-1830, and an addition to it that just as big as the original side, and that was built in the 1890's. Nothing is straight or true, and I love that house so much! Great video, guys!

I understand all about y’all house . I live in southeastern Louisiana. And our hone is a old Cajun cypress house. Can’t fine out when it was built. Went to the land office to see if I can fine something out. All they have on record is it had 209 acres with 3 building on it. And that was recorded in 1816 , after the Louisiana Purchase took place. We love it.

This is me and my husband to a TEE! After all is said and done, he reminds me he’s not a mind reader. Then I whip out pintrest and he says “I’ll build it for you”. Then our fight is settled and all is forgiven. 😂🤣😂 Your daughter trying to slyly slip by out of frame at the mention of food, about killed me! How sweet!

I just love you guys ❤️ Todd is only a year older than my big brother, and even though he's old enough to actually be my dad, you guys have a parent feel to me while still not seeming to be old enough to be my parents. My dad was over 40 when I was born, brother was 18, but my best friend for years was old enough to (in years) be my grandmother, but she felt more like my big sister. But the easiest thing is to just say I adore you guys, with not putting you in any age group or position of Parenthood... You're just awesome folks, and I hope to watch you guys forever ❤️

However, that doesn't mean our marriage was perfect and i don't believe any other marriage is either. **But** as you two, we had a blessed marriage. I lost Troy in 2013 to cancer. I miss him more today than i did then. You two stay loving and take care of each other while you can!

Thanks for sharing all you accomplished, you guys are workhorses! About the stove, I have gas and I love it, but mine is always a mess as well. I think it’s the nature of the beast. I guess I have a higher tolerance for messes, though. It doesn’t drive me crazy too often. I could relate to your reaction to Todd’s negative remarks. When I get a vision for something, I’m pretty focused on it being exactly like I can see it in my mind. I’m sure I was a royal pain when we totally remodeled our 1910 house in 2008. My husband was sweet and patient with me as well. Love you guys!

All REAL marriages are NOT perfect 😊 I had many times when I too got 'snippy' with my husband and vice versa. Marriage is about building a strong partnership that produces VALUE. It's about give and take, compromises, and working hard together to do the work to make this partnership work. Too many marriages end in divorce probably because not enough of those people were will to do the work. It does take patience, discipline, forgiveness, putting the family first and above all, love. My folks didn't have a perfect marriage, I don't think one exists. But I saw what they went through together to raise seven children and some of them (especially me) were very spoiled and needy! 😂 BUT, they were my examples of what a strong marriage and commitment to one another looked like, and that's all I ever wanted. Thanks for being honest, open and sharing. Obviously, your marriage is one just like my parents had - strong!

My bathroom renovation happened within a few months of moving into our older home built in 1930 because we found out the only thing that worked correctly was the toilet but it leaked-that was the easy fix. This started back in 2014 and it still isn’t done. My only light is a night light. We need to re-wire and get a new breaker box set up but everything else has taken priority. Too much to comment about. My husband mentioned we needed to put a dishwasher in for me. I declined. I said bathroom first.

I feel like my husband squashes everything I say too! In fairness, I probably do the same to him, but I feel like I’m more open minded. Maybe? Sometimes I forget how things used to be before we started living more “naturally”. I forget that things like manwich and tater tots exist! Then I am like... gosh. They say this is the simple life, but buying hamburger buns, a package of meat, can of sauce and bag of potatoes seems a lot simpler than what I’m doing! Lol!! Balance. 😉
