How much ride time did she have prior to the te300, my wife is a fairly new rider on a klx140 and likes the feel of a full size just not ready for the power yet

We bought her 140, 1 year ago. The 140 is a great bike to allow new riders just to learn all the mechanics of riding. To deal with the extra power of the 300, I am adding a throttle tamer from G2. I highly recommend you go and purchase one of those throttle builder kits if you decide to get a bigger bike. That way you can dial in how tame you want the throttle to fill, based on what your wife prefers. We are starting with a 20%. The builder kit allows you to buy cams instead of buying a whole new throttle tube every time you want to make a change. Essentially you just buy the cams for 25 bucks and swap them out. I find the TE300 power pretty manageable. Especially compared to my buddies sherco 300 or like the TX300. The TE300 has a little less of a spicy tune on it. With that said it's definitely a lot more spicy than a 140. Which makes teaching proper body position is extremely important. But to answer your question how much ride time basically 1 year. I don't know how many hours but I would say relatively low, max 40 hours of total ride time. The real test is does your wife want a larger bike and have the desire to learn better clutch control and throttle control? The larger bike has obviously bigger tires which allows for better stability. The small tires throw the rider all around which doesn't leave the rider feeling confident. This in the end slows down the progression. Which is definitely not what we want. The other thing I would do is send your suspension off to get it lowered and the correct springs for her weight. Currently in this video the bike is lowered but mostly just with the lowering link and the shorter factory seat. I did get and is now installed a Enduro engineering seat. Which is another quarter inch lower and in my opinion a lot more comfortable. Without the suspension set up for her the bike will never ride right. you wont even be able to set If the sag. And if that is not set then her bikes never going to feel right. The other thing you could do is add a heavier flywheel weight. The flywheel weight will probably going to be the last thing that I do to the bike but it is a easy install if it is needed. Whatever keeps my wife wanting to ride I will bounce a check ;) With all that said, my wife has gone from enjoying riding on occasion to now she wants to ride everyday. I have created a monster and I love it.

Can you get flywheel weights for the 300?

@@inhalethetrail3935 May tame/smooth the power a little. It's years since I rode a performance two-stroke, but always tried to keep it well up in the revs, that way there's less revs left to bite you (didn't always work!).
